WONKA: Dreams, Chocolate and a Touch of Magic🪄✨
If you like fun and whimsical with a touch of sweets, then I've got what you're looking for, so quiet up and listen down............ Scratch that, reverse it, I bring to you "WONKA". The like you've never seen.
"WONKA" is a prequel to the Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory and the Charlie and the chocolate factory, both movies based on a book Charlie and the chocolate factory. Now I have not read the book but the first movie Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory was not the actual representation of the book while the second one was. I watched the first movie first and I fell in love instantly with the character Willy Wonka, talk about being Wonka for Wonka.
"WONKA" I would say was a prequel to the first movie directly. The movie gives a back story as to how Wonka made his own factory, from a small boy with little cozy house with his mom to a factory owner. The movie stars Timothèe Chalamet as young Willy and I felt that no one would have done a better job, Timothèe really portrayed the whimsical side of Willy Wonka and to me he kinda resembles the first Willy and his facial expression were spot on. Timothy brought a youthful and fun vibe to the character Willy Wonka and brought a dreamer like charm to "WONKA".
The movie is about Willy trying to make his dreams come true, a dream that started with a bar of chocolate, while being terroriser by big chocolatiers in the town the likes of slugworth, prodnose and ficklegruber.
The Director and the whole production team really need accord by trying to bring this dreamy wonderland to life. The whole scene through out, the movie was vibrant and gave exactly what the dreamy chocolate factory would look like. The outfit and costumes was spot on and the whole scene gave a magical, old world European vibe.
The movie also gives balance between whimsical and emotional depth. The movie mixed light humor with a theme following ur dreams. One thing I will not fail to talk about are the catchy tunes. The tunes added more to the drama and making the movie more unforgettable - at least for me tho. Coming from someone who don't like lots of music break in a movie, this one in the movie is really catchy and actually have an emotional depth and even add one of the original tune from the first movie "pure imagination".
So all In all, Wonka is a lighthearted, family friendly movie that is a little on the whimsical side and very engaging, it also doesn't mearly focuses on following one's dreams it also touches themes like standing up to injustice and making friends that make chasing your dreams worth while.
"It's not the Chocolate, its the people you share it with"
I have an strong emotional attachment to this movie - I don't know why but I just get this burst of motivation - like I can achieve my dreams and I just thought I should share it with you guys so I'll rate it a 8/10.
