Normally, I don’t like watching series that are overhyped, but I’m so glad I watched Forever. It turned out to be a good indicator of growth in my life and I will tell you why in a minute.

About the series

Forever is a drama series about two high school students who fell in love and wanted to do everything in their power to be together forever against all odds. The odds here involved their very different worlds, families and even goals in life.

Justin was a dyslexic from a rich home who was always doing whatever his mom wanted and was so lost in life, while Keisha, his girlfriend, was a very smart girl from a financially struggling home who knew exactly what she wanted in life.

Even before they started dating, it appeared that Keisha had a long standing crush on Justin because they knew each other when they were kids. But life separated them as they grew up. Keisha was going through so much in her life before she met Justin but as she tried dealing with things on her own( not to bother Justin), she still ended up dragging him into her messes, and they both ended up getting hurt most of the time.

My thoughts and ratings

Honestly, I thing they did a great job with this series and you can see it. From characters to props to cinematography and everything. I like how they overstretched the high school drama in this series. It’s a true reflection of what’s happening now in the real world. Teens are just complicating things for themselves instead of opening up to their parents for them to help them deal with these issues.

When I think about this movie, I can’t help but think it’s probably someone’s real life which was used, but I didn’t see anything like when I checked google. I say that because the drama is so complicated, and it makes it feel real. Especially for the things Keisha was going through but still trying to protect her mom when it’s supposed to be the other way round.

Anyway, the reason why I said this movie opened my eyes to see that I’ve grown is because I like watching high school movies like Blood and Water, Moxie and others. They make me really happy. Talk about the drama, the attitude, unnecessary ego, the miscommunication and all. But this time, I was bored while watching forever.

No, I’m not saying the series wasn’t nice. It was okay, but I just felt like it was too childish( I mean of course, it’s supposed to be because they are in high school). But that’s when it hit me that I was grown now to the extent where all those attitudes, not communicating, hiding secrets in the series were just putting me off. And it made sense why I don't remember the last time I watched high school movies.

I think this series will definitely be a classic to teens and those who enjoy high school drama. I’m going to give it a 7/10. It did an okay job entertaining me as a viewer.

Props to you for still giving it a fair rating even though it didn’t hit the same for you. Sounds like Forever would definitely land better with a younger crowd or anyone still into that high school drama vibe but doesn't feel like my type of series 😌. Thanks for sharing your thoughts... it was a great read.
