I love it when the title of a movie lets you know what to expect, and this movie is definitely an indication that the perfect movie title exists. Somewhere in the afternoon, after playing about 20 chess games, if not more, I felt like my brain had been fried. So I decided to watch a movie that would take my full attention for at least an hour, and Havoc was a perfect pick.

About the movie

Havoc is an action/thriller movie starring Tom Hardy (whom you probably would recognize from Venom) as a detective who had to fight his way through dangerous criminals to save a politician’s son. The whole action started after a drug deal went wrong, causing the death of an important person.

After that particular incident, the politician’s son and girlfriend had to run for their lives because all the dangerous hitmen and women were after them. Eventually, they had to get their own hands very bloody just to save themselves.

My thoughts

Let me begin with the storyline because it was so clear and very interesting. I like how they didn’t make anything complicated or hidden. I’m saying this because in most action movies, they hide something somewhere and then later force it out as a plot twist. This wasn’t like that.

The characters! I mean, Tom Hardy’s reputation precedes him, so I wasn’t even surprised by how well he acted in this movie. All the other characters also did a great job at whatever roles they were given. I can’t count the number of times I had to play back just to admire certain scenes because of the acting.

I can’t talk about this movie without talking about the cinematography. At a point, I even felt like I was part of the movie because of the angles and camera movement. I found out it had a budget of $30M plus, and I must say it was definitely worth it just for the cinematography alone.

My Rating

It was very interesting how I even learned something from this movie in the end despite it being all action. I love the fact that they preached about how you can’t trust anyone, no matter how close they are to you. And I think the way they showed it was enough to let anyone think twice before putting their trust in people.

I think they delivered everything they intended to, and I’ll give it a solid 7/10. If you love action movies and enjoy all the shooting sounds they come with, this movie is for you.

Wow, this review really makes me want to watch Havoc! I love it when a movie dives straight into the action without overcomplicating things. And with Tom Hardy leading? Say no more. Sounds like the perfect weekend watch.
