CineTV Contest: A True Mother: Lakshmi.
Hello, beautiful people and I’m happy to be a part of another CineTV contest. This time, it won’t be just movies alone but also an opportunity to say kudos to every woman and mother out there.
I wish your mum, my mum and every mother a “Happy Mother’s Day” and thanks to all of them for bringing us into this world. This contest has asked us to tell our favorite movie featuring a mother.
Sometimes, our mothers may be very harsh but at the end of the day, it shows that they really care about us and want the best for us. This thought has prompted me to write about my favorite movie featuring a mother titled Lakshmi
Plot of the movie
Lakshmi, a girl of twelve years old who lives with her single mum Nandini and has never met her dad falls in love with dancing. However, her mother Nandini detests music and dancing a lot.
Even though her mother doesn’t like it, she forms a bond with the people in a cafe close to her school.
That’s where she met VK, a man who believes in Lakshmi’s dancing career. After a while, Nandini finds out that her daughter has joined a dancing group where she angrily goes to pick her one day. There, she met VK, her ex-fiancé and realizes that VK is her daughter’s coach.
Right there, Lakshmi discovered that VK is her father and her mum dragged her out of the scene. Eventually, Lakshmi finds a way to escape back to the training ground and she had an accident which caused her hearing loss.
At last, even due to her hearing loss, Lakshmi won the Pride of Life Jnr award which her father couldn’t win in 2005. Lakshmi made her parents proud.
What I love or hated about the movie
Firstly, I want to say that I don’t hate any part of movies. It is an intellectual work of someone and I should not hate it.
What I love about the movie is how her mother supported her at the end of it all. Many times, when our mothers do not support us, we feel like they do not like us or they don’t want the best for us but everything has its reason and it’s because Nandini doesn’t want her daughter to end up like her father.
It would have been bad if her mother didn’t let her participate in the competition but the joy of every mother is to see her child win. Even though her mother never wanted her to dance, I loved how she gave her daughter that free will of participating at the competition.
How this movie influenced me
Many times, when my mum tells me that she doesn’t want me to be a part of something, it feels like she’s harsh but she’s basically trying to protect me from one thing or the other.
That’s what happened in the movie. Mothers can never be wicked and the best person who will love you is your mother. I wish we could just open our mothers hearts to see how much they love you. No matter how bad the situation seem to be, the always want the best for us just like Nandini wants the best for Lakshmi.
Is there any scene that still pops into my mind?
Yes, there is! There was actually a connection with Lakshmi and her mother while she was dancing during the competition. You really need to see her mother cry. They were tears of joy.
It’s funny that even though her mother didn’t support her at first, she was one of the first people who broke down in tears after her daughter won.
This is to show that Nandini wants the best for her child. No mother will want to see her child suffer. Your mum wants you to make it. You both may disagree but whatever the conclusion is, she will always be happy about it.
Why do I feel this movie is significant?
There are a lot of people out there who feel their mothers are not in support of their career. That’s not it. They do not just want you to go astray. Your mum loves you.
No one loves you better than your mum. No matter how much you and your mum argue over something, just have it in mind that she wants the very best for you.
I’ll rate this movie a 9/10 because it shows how much mothers love their children. Happy Mother’s Day in arrears to all mothers in the world.
Here is my entry to the CineTV contest. Watch it, love it!
I remember watching this movie, it's been so long but I know I cried, especially the scene when she was on stage and the instructor was demonstrating the dance routine along side her.
A beautiful tribute to the unconditional love of mothers! Truly captures the emotional depth of the film and its heartfelt message
