Hello CineTV. When watching movies, I’m usually very choosy because I’m a fan believer of culture and no matter what movie of any country that I watch, it always has to depict their culture, show their way of life and also what they believe in.

For the latest Nigerian movie that I watched, it is titled Koleoso. Koleoso is a Nigerian traditional movie, divided into five parts which centers around a family that believes so much in wickedness and spreads the wickedness around wherever they are.
As a fanatic of culture, the usage of the African culture like charm, gods, language and lifestyle makes it more interesting and pleasing to the audience.

Plot

Koleoso, the first child and only son of Osogbemi is a young guy in his early thirties who does nothing with his charm and supernatural powers than take people’s money, take their wives or misuse power all because he and his father solely rely on their supernatural powers.

Alongside his two sisters, Osobola who resides in Lagos while Efun resides in higher institution where she is a student, they all believe in being wicked and ruthless to people.

Eventually, the entire family met their doom when Koleoso snatched the wife of a greater herbalist Jawesoro, and kills the the great herbalist with the support of the whole family. Then, it became a thug of war when other bigger herbalists in the world decided to fight for Jawesoro.

In the process, Koleoso, Osogbemi, Osobola and Efun all lost their lives and their society was free from the wicked family.

This movie influences me in the sense that it keeps ringing in my ears all the time that Nigeria is a country where the small gods are relevant. People may not show it but almost every family or household has a small god that they all believe in. It’s proper for an African man and we all live with it.

Secondly, the movie made me realize the power of black power. Black power can be so real. I’ve seen and witnessed it but watching the movie led me to so many researches that made me dig more into black power and yes, black power works like magic and can be very real.

For every movie watcher, we always have our favorite scene. My favorite scene is the scene where the whole family of Osogbemi gathered around the powerful herbalist, Jawesoro to kill him.

Do you know what that implies? It means that there is always a way out. Since the four of them have tried to singlehandedly kill him by reciting some incantations which didn’t work, they finally gathered their hands around him and got him killed. Four powerful hands will surely surpass one.

Maybe I should say that no matter how interesting a movie can be, there may always be a flop. I could have loved everything about the movie but I didn’t like the end.
I believe that for every war, there has to be a winner. After all the great herbalists in the world waged war against the Osogbemi’s family, they died too.

All of them died during the war of incantation with their mouths and not even a single person either from the Osogbemi’s family or from the opponents could live to tell the story.

This is a significant movie to watch. Let’s forget about the storyline for a minute. Have you heard about black power? Do you know what it feels like? Do you have an idea if black power can make you disappear in China and appear in Canada?. It’s real.

Just watch this movie and look at how they kept disappearing and appearing in places. It can be so real and it’s significant because it really happens in Nigeria even though it is hard to believe.

Koleoso is a movie that is one of a kind. I love the storyline and what the movie potrays.
It deserves getting a 9/10 rating. When you give it a watch, you’ll thank me later.

Thanks for reading
