Movies based on real life events, are usually moving and inspiring, they can also be heartbreaking, the point is that they always show us something that happened at some point, either historical or something extraordinary or admirable, that some human being or even animal, performed at some point.

A week ago, I saw the end of a movie that caught my attention, I did not want to ask my husband to back it to not take away the inspiration, but as the next day I was free I looked for it among the list of possibilities of Prime Video and it is the one I come to share with you its title:

To the Last Man

This movie shares with us the true story of U.S. soldier Desmond Doss, a Seventh-day Adventist Christian, who refused to carry weapons on the front, logically this brought him countless problems with both his comrades and his superiors.

The film begins by sharing with us a little of the childhood and youth of this man, his father a veteran of World War I, when he returned he was so traumatized that he became a violent alcoholic, Tom Doss sometimes beat his mother, as a child in a fight with his brother, an accident occurred that scared Desmod a lot and then to confront his father during a fight he had with his mother and snatching a gun, vowed never to take a gun again, remembering the commandment "Thou shalt not kill".

Desmod, already a man and after the attack on Pearl Harbor, like most young boys and men in America, feels he must enlist to help in the war, but he wants to do it as a paramedic to save lives, although his father, mother and also his girlfriend beg him not to enlist, he does.

There, is where the real test of fire begins for Desmod, because by refusing to bring a gun, besides being a skinny young man, made him the target of ridicule and persecution, but his perseverance and firm beliefs, led him to be so truly firm in what he considered his duty and mission at the front, which ended up being decorated with the Medal of Honor by President Harry S. Truman. Truman, so much for the plot, enough of a spoiler, but I think with what we have shared you will be encouraged to look up the movie and find out why this man was worthy of this medal.

Now, the direction of this film was in charge of Mel Gibson, who has, from my point of view a special touch to exploit the dramatic, the raw, as for the role of Desmod Doss was played by Andrew Russell Garfield who manages to make a great role, as it is shown as a simple young man, He also had the performances of Vince Vaughn as Sergeant Howel, Sam Worthington as Captain Glover, Luke Bracey as Smitty Ryker, Rachel Griffiths as Bertha Doss (Desmod's mother), Hugo Weaving as Tom Doss (Desmod's father), Ryan Corr as Lt. Manville, Teresa Palmer as Dorothy Schutte (Desmod's girlfriend/wife), Richard Pyros as Colonel Stelzer, among others.

The set design of this film is very realistic, depicting how difficult the battle was in which Desmod performed his heroic deeds, how difficult the access to the place was and what he discovered while he was there, plus it is somewhat raw what they show, as they show us in close-up the horrors of war, the costumes were detailed and the music is moving and inspiring.

In summary, "Until the Last Man", shows us how being different, first should not be a reason for mockery and humiliation and secondly, how the determination, faith and belief of a man led him to save a lot of lives, as he believed and defended firmly, what he believed in, which definitely inspires us to follow his example. I bid you farewell hoping that whether you have seen this movie or not, you feel completely free to share with me your impressions in the comments box.
