Greetings!

It has been a long time since I watched a full anime movie. If my memory serves me correctly here are the previous anime movies that I watched: Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, The Invincibles, some Toy Story movies, and a Spider-man movie which I already forgot the title, and Secret Life of Pets. Other than those that I mentioned I think I haven't seen any anime movies until now.

Maybe the reason I haven't watched anime movies for a long time is because there are no anime movies out there that suit my taste. However, I think my taste in anime movies is versatile since I can enjoy watching anime movies like Toy Story and any anime movie that catches my attention even if it is a drama anime movie.

With that being said, I finally watched an anime movie today, the movie is titled "Ponyo". Ponyo is an anime movie from Japan which was directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Ponyo is from the animation outfit "Studio Ghibli". It was released on July 19, 2008. Imagine, I haven't heard anything about this movie until now and I can't remember how I came to know this movie. I just found myself watching and enjoying it.

The narrative of the movie is something that you can't predict. Although I predicted some of the little aspects of the narrative I was not able to predict how the narrative is going. The narrative is something that you haven't seen before, I am sure of it. The narrative only focuses on a small area where the protagonist lives. Also, the narrative is very good, and I think it is unique since I can't remember a movie let alone an anime movie that is similar to it. I am sure you'll be surprised when you hear the voice of one of the main characters in the movie and I do suggest that you do a little search on who the actors are and I am pretty sure that you are going to be surprised.

Alright, so, here are my opinions for this animation from Japan. By the way, according to Wikipedia, Ponyo's budget is US$34 million and it garnered a box office of US$204.8 million. How was that for an anime? Very good if you ask me.

Okay, so back to my opinion. First of all, when I saw Ponyo (which I forgot when and where) it immediately caught my attention since its style of animation was out of the ordinary. The details and how the characters were made are impressive although I am pretty sure that Studio Ghibli made the choice on how the anime will look like. Needless to say, I am impressed by the animation simply because it is so amazing to see something new when it comes to anime.

This scene is the x-factor on why I watched this movie, it is something out of the ordinary.

Another thing that I love about Ponyo is the choice of voice actors, I am not going to spoil it here because I want you guys to see it for yourself (it is available on Netflix). I am sure that you guys are going to love the voice actors once you see one of them speak.

You will be surprised on who voiced this actor is, I am sure you are going to love it when you heard him speak

Aside from voice actors I also love how Ponyo was dubbed, the lines are very clear (which is primarily what I am looking for in a dubbed movie be it anime or live-action).

Another thing that I love about Ponyo is the story. The story is so refreshing that I am sure you guys haven't seen it before. The story correctly portrays how a young boy acts and how he speaks.

And then there's the act of one of the protagonists Ponyo. Ponyo is actually a girl who came from the sea and then met Sōsuke (the other protagonist) of the anime. I also love how the movie incorporates some humor by using one of the most popular terms in the Japanese language which is "Baka". Go ahead and search the internet for what Baka means in Japanese.

Did I just mention "Baka"? The scene when Baka was used actually made me smile because it perfectly captures the tantrums of a wife when her husband was not able to keep his promise in the name of his job. Luckily, Sōsuke's character is enough to defuse the tantrums of his mother.

Sōsuke's mother signaling BAKA to her husband to show her annoyance of not keeping his promise

I like how the story put the house of Sōsuke on top of one of the highest peaks in the village. Also, the movie also kept me on the edge of my seat for some time because the mother of Sōsuke is quite a reckless driver in the movie. In that very scene when I saw the style of driving of Sōsuke's mother I thought they would get into an accident but it was not on the script.

The turn of events is also very fast so you are not going to get bored and will leave you wanting more.

All in all, the anime is great. The narrative is unique. I am sure you guys haven't seen anything like it. The story is very light and you will not get stressed a lot. It is something like that you will feel some suspense on some of the scenes and I am sure that you are not going to correctly predict what will happen next, especially at the end of the movie or how the movie ends because even that last minute of the movie you will be thinking on what will happen next.

That is all for now guys, catch you up with the next one. Wishing you all safety, good health, and abundance.
