"The Mandalorian" (Season 1 Episode 2) by Rick Famuyima Review: The Child

Greetings!

Episode one treated us to a very interesting storyline and the introduction of "Baby Yoda". The episode lived up to expectations because we are treated to an action-packed first episode of season one. Season one also captured my imagination because I was not expecting that I was going to like this series very much after only seeing the first episode.

"The Mandalorian (Season 1 Episode 2)" is all about the challenging mission of a lone bounty hunter to hunt and deliver a package (Baby Yoda) to a man who is part of the remnants of the empire.

Hand-to-hand combat

I like when in episode one the skills of the Mandalorian were shown (especially in a team when he accidentally teamed up with a bounty droid). In episode two the hand-to-hand skill in combat is highlighted as he is up against a group of bounty hunters that are also looking for "The Child".

Since "The Mandalorian" was set in the Star Wars universe I was glad to see something unique in the series and this second episode showed how unique Star Wars was by including an event with the Jawas where he was forced to engage them because his ship was stripped of its parts and his stash of weapon is also stolen.

Unfortunate

Of course, in each film or series, there is always an unfortunate part, and for the Mandalorian, his unfortunate situation came when his ship was stripped of important parts. I like this struggle of the Mandalorian because it just shows the unpredictability of the environment in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian tried to get back all that was stolen from him but he was apprehended when he took multiple shots from the Jawas ion guns which rendered him unconscious and fell to the ground. But he was lucky because Kuiil, the Ugnaught, actually knew the Jawas so he took the Mandalorian with him to find the Jawas and retrieve his parts and his weapons.

A revelation

Since "The Mandalorian" is an action-adventure series this episode has treated us to an adventure that I am not expecting. In exchange for the parts that were stolen from him, the Jawas bargained that the Mandalorian should find the egg and give it to them (Jawas). But as it turns out it is not that easy to get the egg because it belongs to a Mudhorn living in a nearby cave. In his (Mandalorian) battle with the Mudhorn, he is almost killed when Baby Yoda intervenes and suspends the Mudhorn in mid-air giving the Mandalorian enough time to kill it (the Mudhorn).

Signet revelation

In the creed of Mandalorian, a Mandalorian bears a signet that he/she will wear on his armor until the day he dies. Before the start of episode two, the Mandalorian still has no signet (hasn't been revealed). But when he battled the Mudhorn I think his signet would be the Mudhorn.

A lot of questions

This question has a lot of questions that left me. What is going to happen to Baby Yoda? Is he finally going to get his signet? What happens next when he gets his bounty? What he is going to forge on his bear bounty? What the client intends to do with Baby Yoda.

I like questions when it comes to series because it makes me very interested in the series. I am going to speculate on this question that arises in this episode. What is going to happen with Baby Yoda? Since Baby Yoda is force-sensitive I am sure that the client will need something that Baby Yoda has, are they going to kill him after they get what they want? I am not sure.

In terms of the signet, I think it is already revealed when he fought the Mudhorn. In terms of the beskar, I am not sure what part of his armor he is going to forge next. And I think he is going to get his signet once he visits the Armorer.

Conclusion

All in all this episode is still very good because we have seen the hand to hand combat skills of the Mandalorian and this episode also shows the capability of Baby Yoda for being Force-sensitive and it is also filled with adventure when he came face to face with the Jawas and I also like it that the Mandaloria find a friend on Kuill which helped him retrieve back all of the parts and weapons that was taken by the Jawas.

If you are going to watch this series make sure to watch episode one first so that will be able to follow the story of the series. It is a must-watch. It is a treat because it is very good there is no moment that you are going to be bored. If you don't like a Mandalorian before I think you are going to love this. I am sure because before I watch this series I am actually not into the Mandalorian because of the reputation that painted by Boba Fett when he was first introduced. Disney has done a great job in portraying that not all Mandalorians are on the side of the empire and there are actually a lot of Mandalorians that is kind-hearted and cares for everyone else around them especially their fellow Mandalorians.
