I like zombie movies for a number of reasons, but the main reason is the good ones give us a chance to check our humanity. That is, how do we see 'others'? Zombies are apart. They are different. Of course they are dangerous, but they were once people. Are they still people? The good zombie movies explore this. Do we just kill and eliminate them without thought? The good zombie movies raise questions.

In the first season of the "Walking Dead" Rick comes across a zombie in the park. She has no legs. She is sentenced to misery. Wanting to eat people, suffering, hungry, lost, alone. It's true she is dangerous, but he feels pity. He returns to the park and he kills her. He expresses sympathy for her suffering, and he puts an end to it.

Zombie movies can be very complex. They also can be fun.

Not everybody agrees with that.
