Is it true that the saying "Behind a successful man there is a great woman behind him?" This saying is very relevant to the success of the film The Incredibles 14 years ago. A first “family superheroes” animated film from Disney-Pixar. But will this be relevant for the sequel film? The answer could be yes, it could be no, depending on our perspective as an audience.

In The Incredibles 2, it is able to present a fresh story and present contemporary issues. Millennial mother with a little spice of feminism and of course family. Even though the story of this film continues the first film right when they fight The Underminer. Very different from the first film, as if the wheels were really turning. Mother replaces father's role, father replaces mother's role.

When the Parr family and Frozone confront The Underminer from a bank robbery, The Incredibles must admit they did not consider the consequences of their resistance. The city was destroyed due to the action of saving the city from The Underminer, so the government was forced to make it illegal for the heroes to take action. If anyone is seen using their superpowers, they will be subject to sanctions.

Even though the Parr family still has to struggle with their financial condition due to Bob Parr (Craig T. Nelson) having to resign from his job. This turned out to have an unfavorable impact on the integrity of the Parr family. Until finally, the opportunity that Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson) brought for the Parr family came. This opportunity comes from a conglomerate and reliable businessman in the telecommunications sector, Winston Deavor (Bob Odenkirk). Winston invites the Parr family to bring the superhero back to life. Winston believes that Superheroes will save the world. Winston is not alone, he is assisted by his super genius younger sister, Evelyn Deavor (Catherine Keener). Interestingly, according to Winston and Evelyn's opinion, as the pioneers of this program, they asked Helen Parr (Holly Hunter) to be the main character of this plan. Yup, not Mr. Incredible, but it is Elastic Girl who is considered to be successful in bringing the name of a superhero to the city's hero.

Bob is forced to agree to this for the sake of the common good, especially when Winston presents the Parr family with a luxurious house for their temporary residence. So have they succeeded in legalizing superheroes to eradicate crime? What about Bob taking care of Violet (Sarah Powell) with her puppy love problems, Dash (Hugh Milner) with her school problems and especially Jack Jack (the super adorable) with his family problems? Not to mention Elastic Girl who has to eradicate crime alone against a new supervillain with the identity of Screen Slaver, will she be successful and miss home

Disney-Pixar is indeed very good at packaging a film that can be watched by all ages but thick with current issues. In this film, the audience will be presented that Mother is indeed a true superhero, not only does she have to be good at taking care of her family, but she is also good at taking care of her job. I was intrigued by what Edna Mode (the director's own voice actor, Brad Bird) said, that to be a true hero is when you are good at taking care of your family. In this case Edna's proof is very precise, how Elastic Girl was able to successfully face mission after mission defeating the Screen Slaver's plans because previously she was able to take care of the integrity of the Parr household. Then Bob, had to adapt a lot to all of his son's behavior.

Of all that, the ones that caught the most attention were Jack Jack and also Edna Mode. How is Jack Jack's ability able to make Edna interested (even though Edna doesn't like children). Edna thinks Jack Jack is a genius because he has many abilities that can exploit Edna's intelligence in making superhero costumes. He wants to show that he is better than other designers and especially from the famous designer, Alexander Galbaki (who designed the new Elastic Girl costume). Jack Jack's humor can be exploited appropriately and makes the audience curious about the development of Jack Jack's powers.

Regarding visualization, voice acting and Pixar stories, there is no doubt that they are champions. Although, the film The Incredibles 2 is not like other Pixar family drama films which sell a touching and touching story. Precisely this is what makes The Incredibles special, which presents a story with current conditions, everyday family conflicts, real and very close to today's life. The flexibility of the story that Pixar is able to provide proves that they are indeed creative in packaging a film. This time the story is about the change in position of father and mother.

The change of position does not mean that Helen forgets her role as mother and Bob forgets his role as father. There are several inserted scenes where they are still a mother and a father. Regardless of their role in the family. Indeed, for children the story of The Incredibles 2 will be a little boring, because the issues are quite heavy for them. But the contents of this will strike a chord with new families or families who are already established but with exactly the same conditions. Pixar is able to present an issue that is very millennial. Mom really does know the best.
