I wanted to add a little romance to my weekend, so I decided to watch one of the movies that had been on my “To Watch” list for a long time. Love, Rosie is a romantic comedy with a dramatic touch released in 2014, starring Lily Collins (Rosie) and Sam Claflin (Alex). Although it seems a bit cliché, I think it goes a little further if you pay enough attention to it.

The film tells the story of friendship and love between Rosie and Alex, who have been friends since childhood and dream of moving to Boston to study together. Love, Rosie made me laugh, sometimes almost cry, but I think that 95% of the movie, I spent frustrated with the characters, and I thought, “Can our lives really slip away because we're not being honest?” It's a completely bittersweet story. Sam and Lily do a very good job, where you really feel the chemistry and intrude on the special moment they're having. Both actors play their characters from adolescence to adulthood, as they go through the different stages of life, especially Lily, because Rosie goes through ups and downs full of emotions and situations that you can relate to.

[Spanish] Love, Rosie, me hizo reír, a veces casi llorar, pero creo que el 95% de la película, la pasé frustrada con los personajes, y pensé ¿De verdad se nos puede ir la vida por no ser sinceros?, es una historia completamente agridulce, Sam y Lily hacen un trabajo muy bueno, en el que realmente sientes la química e intruso en el momento especial que están teniendo. Ambos interpretan a sus personajes desde adolescentes hasta su adultez, como van pasando por las distintas etapas de la vida, sobre todo Lily, porque Rosie, va en un sube y baja repleto de emociones y de situaciones con las que puedes sentirte identificado.
If there's one thing I liked about the film, it's the lighting. It gives a very romantic touch to scenes such as the sun's rays when they're lying on the grass, or the scene on the beach at dusk, as the light plays according to the different moments or feelings of the characters. On the other hand, sometimes the scenes go by too quickly and the dialogues are so short that they leave some important gaps in the story. Apart from the main characters, I loved the scenes with Rosie and her dad, the man who encourages her to follow her dreams, to have her own hotel, and with her friend. Without a doubt, we all need a Ruby to help us take a leap of faith when necessary.

[Spanish]Si hay algo que me gustó de la película es su iluminación, le da un toque muy romántico en escenas como los rayos del sol cuando están acostados en la grama, o la escena en la playa a medio atardecer, como la luz va jugando acorde a los diferentes momentos o sentimientos de los personajes. Por otro lado, a veces las escenas van muy rápido y los diálogos son tan cortos, que deja algunos vacíos importantes en la historia. Aparte de los protagonistas, me encantaron las escenas que tuvo Rosie con su papá, es el hombre que la alienta a seguir sus sueños, a tener su propio hotel y con su amiga, sin duda todos necesitamos una Ruby que nos ayude a lanzarnos al vacío cuando es necesario.
In summary, I think it's a beautiful film, very bittersweet and frustrating, with a nice touch of romance, good actors, and perfect for watching on a free afternoon. In the end, it leaves us wondering, “Okay, but what happened next?”
