A promising but disappointing story

I've been watching this series called INVASION on Apple TV for a while now, and it seemed quite promising. I had just finished watching Severance, which is also on Apple TV, so I was confident that it would be really good. It wasn't my idea to watch it; it was actually my husband who told me that a friend had recommended it to him. I watched the trailer and it looked good... I didn't expect much, but I didn't expect so little either. To be honest, I haven't finished it yet, as it has three seasons. I only have three episodes left to finish the third season and finally get rid of this series that I feel has only wasted my time. Today, I'm here to recommend a series NOT to watch: INVASION.

In this series, we see how aliens attack Earth in an attempt to take over the planet, and we witness this whole situation through the stories of different people in different parts of the world. Each one has their own life and storyline apart from the aliens. It's a very promising premise, but when you look at it as a whole, it doesn't really work. The first season is extremely slow. We don't see the aliens, but they keep us in fear or suspense that something stronger than us is attacking, something that even the military can't control. I found that interesting, and I was a little intrigued and wanted to be patient, hoping that the series would get better, but I'm still waiting for that to happen.

PERSONAJES
CHARACTERS
This series features characters who have zero common sense, characters who want to paint themselves as the best and the ones who are right, and portray those who think logically and with common sense as the bad guys. Some characters make decisions so absurd that they don't even fit the situation, characters who disappear without explanation and are never mentioned again. Seriously, almost all of the characters are just hateful.
Mitsuki is the one I like the least. I never sympathize with her. Her personality is shocking—she's “the unique and different girl” who thinks she's superior to everyone else. She has almost no facial expressions and fails to convey anything. I've wished for her character to die because I can't stand seeing her on screen. She makes me SLEEPY.

Trevante, I don't dislike him that much, but he's not a particularly memorable character either. He's always making plans but never accomplishes anything. He has a “sad story” that he can never get past, distancing himself from the people he cares about while trying to save the world on his own.

Aneesha is a woman who was dragged along by her husband, which doesn't really fit into the plot involving aliens, and SPOILER ALERT, her husband dies several episodes later AFTER BEING SAVED FROM DEATH the first time around. I don't know. Everything was very strange with Aneesha's story, but on the other hand, she has two children who are UNBEARABLE. In an extreme situation like the end of the world, the children are only looking for a way to get them all killed faster.

Caspar and Jamila, two ordinary children who end up having an accident on a school bus and get trapped in a hole, seemed like the most promising story, but everything became increasingly strange. Jamila is a very obsessive character; before, she didn't even know Caspar existed, and now that she sees that he is “special,” she follows him around like a puppy. She even risks her life to find him in the second season, and in the third season, this girl takes on a more prominent role, making a fool of herself. I don't think there is a single episode in this third season where Jamila doesn't repeat over and over again that “she is no longer a child” or “I am an adult.” Anyway, the children's storyline also becomes boring.

This series has many flaws, but I can't list them all because I would run out of fingers from typing so much. However, I swear that if you watch it without paying too much attention, you can tell that the script was poorly written. The story moves slowly, the characters are underdeveloped, and more importantly, they still don't explain all the mysteries surrounding these creatures called aliens, who, by the way, appear VERY little in the series. It's quite sad that I can't get hooked on this series because I really like the alien theme, and for some reason there are very few movies/series that really know how to address these issues. This series (which I haven't finished watching yet) deserves 1/5 stars.
