Disappointing final episodes | TLOU
A few days ago, I told you a little about my opinion of The Last Of Us. I mentioned that I wouldn't watch any more episodes until it was over because, in my opinion, the story was moving too slowly. Even so, I still had some hope because HBO series tend to get more interesting towards the end, leaving viewers eager to see more. However, that wasn't the case. TLOU has been quite disappointing this season, and I really don't understand why they changed so many things. I know it's an adaptation, and maybe they wanted to give the game's story a different twist, but they are literally killing its essence little by little.
Until now, I had found it strange not to see any flashbacks of Joel and Ellie, since in the game these flashbacks tend to appear very often on certain occasions. In this case, they wanted to change the dynamic and gave us all these flashbacks in a single episode, which in my opinion was not a good idea. Everything happens so quickly in this part that you don't have time to empathize more, and it doesn't hurt as much because Joel died many episodes ago, and thanks to Ellie's behavior in the series, we don't feel like he really died. I feel like her attitude takes away from the terrible situation she experienced.
And I find it incredible that we don't know what Ellie is trying to represent, since sometimes we see her being extremely silly and seemingly unable to do ANYTHING, and other times a little more tough, but she never reaches the level of Ellie in the game. Maybe I'm being too picky with my comparisons, but one of the things that made TLOU II feel like a darker and much more serious story than the first was Ellie's attitude, which had a before and after Joel. The arguments for wanting to make the story more realistic fall apart when we see that the characters look cleaner than a homeless person, and also when we see Ellie determined to avenge the man she considered her father and then lost and doubting her decision. I just don't understand..
For the last chapter, I had my last shred of hope left. To be honest, I fell asleep partway through the beginning. I was really bored, and for the last chapter, there was almost no action, and I didn't like the little action there was, especially this part that I didn't understand: they take her, they don't kill her, Ellie leaves, and that's it. WHAT?
Ellie shooting out of nervousness and not out of a thirst for revenge, meh.
I didn't like this scene either, hahaha.
Although I knew Jesse would die, I was a little surprised that they didn't even let him in and just killed him lol.
I feel like they didn't know how to handle the pace of the series correctly, and thinking that the next season will be Abby's story discourages me even more. We saw Ellie's story, and it was too slow, with little action and stories about secondary characters that, in my opinion, weren't that relevant and took away valuable time from showing Ellie's reality and how she becomes increasingly unbalanced on her path to revenge. Not to mention that for several episodes they keep going over the same topic as if we need an explanation of things. Honestly, I expected more, but now I'm not sure if I want to watch the third season, which will probably come out in two years, meaning that between now and then I'll probably be less and less interested in watching it.
To conclude, I would like to mention something that I have noticed, which is that the relationship between this Dina and this Ellie is weird. I do not sense much chemistry between them, and the few serious moments they share do not contribute positively..
