The disappointment of Venezuelan cinemas
Today we went to see the Kimetsu no Yaiba movie, this movie is from an anime that my son and husband watch, I really went for it since I haven't watched anime in a long time, in my teens I used to watch too much anime until I got to a point where I couldn't stand any more haha, so basically I went to see a movie without much context other than 4 chapters that I watched one day with my son. Even so, I understood a lot of things without needing to know too much about the series, it really entertained me and above all I really liked the animation and the aesthetics of each character.
We decided to go today because it's been a while since the premiere and we wanted to relax without the crowds, because I swear this series has WAY too many viewers, and that's where the main point of this post is going. Lately, movie theaters in Venezuela have been holding competitions to see which one is worse. Every time a movie comes out that has a huge audience, the theater decides to simply ignore it completely and not make a decent combo for the fans. In other countries, I've seen popcorn combos that included really nice things alluding to the movie, but here they just gave us a bookmark with a character that appears on screen for a maximum of 3 minutes.
Instead, there were slightly more elaborate combos of the Fantastic Four and the Smurfs... ??, there is another cinema chain that offered something better, but it was a glass, accompanied by a keychain with a character that also appears for 1 minute in the film, throughout last week and this one I have seen many people complaining about this issue and although I am not a fan of this film I would have loved to be able to buy details for my son, I know that these are things that we can buy elsewhere but it's great when cinemas are dynamic and creative, they didn't even decorate the cinema with a Kimetsu no Yaiba stand, which they have done before with other films.
And on top of that, one thing I haven't done for a long time is buy chocolate at the movies. Every time I've done it, the chocolate tastes expired. Then they complain when you come in with stuff you bought somewhere else, but they're incapable of selling new chocolates. Despite all that, I really like the movie theater I went to because it's usually quiet, and beyond what I've said, we haven't had too many bad experiences, just the frustration of the lack of originality in this country. And well, I liked the movie, but my son loved it; he was very excited watching every scene. It was incredible, and I was very happy to be able to share this adventure with him.
Totally get your frustration. It’s disappointing when cinemas don’t support fan experiences properly. It also happens on this part of the globe ugh
It's terrible, and to think that it's something that benefits them, many people are willing to pay for collectible cups and such.
As an unconditional admirer of the Seventh Art, it breaks my heart to read such a story. Something similar happens in Brazil, but "fortunately," we have options with more expensive tickets that avoid these kind of conflicts.
Hope things getter better around your place (in the near future), @alexa.art.
Wow! At least there's another option, thanks... I also hope it gets better soon
Una linda aventura en el cine, pese de que las expectativas eran más altas en cuanto. Alos combos y decoración del lugar. Esperemos que vengan mejores experiencias.
Se ha deteriorado tanto la calidad de lo ofrecido aquí...
