Hola, amigos de Hive en especial a la comunidad cinéfila. Anoche fui al cine con mi hija y pasamos un día de chicas. Después de pasear por el centro comercial entramos al cine, la cartelera del cine acá en San Cristóbal no es muy nutrida. Sin embargo, habían dos películas que queríamos ver: La Sirenita y Elementos. Decidimos entrar a elementos en 3D. Mi hija la escogió porque dijo que parecía ser más divertida.

Al inicio de la película, con cotufas y chucherías en mano, nos topamos con un maravilloso corto sobre Carl, el protagonista viejito de UP, en donde él muestra la manera en la que va a tener una cita, solo que no está preparado para esto después de tanto tiempo y mucho menos cuando él ha mostrado el amor que siente por el gran amor de su vida que es Eli. Sin embargo, se atreve a asistir a la cita y se encuentra con todos estos contratiempos de qué debe hacer, como comportarse en una cita, qué debe llevarle.

Entonces el perro le dice que sea como un perro, que le lleve un detalle, que conversen, claro, también le dice que le huela la colita, todo el corto fue muy emotivo para mí, se me salieron las lágrimas. Cuando ya está preparado y antes de salir agarra la foto de su esposa, el recuerdo de su matrimonio y conversa con ella. Para mí fue un desencadenante emocional (lloré a moco tendido), así que se los recomiendo totalmente.

Bueno, luego empieza "Elementos". Es una Animación bastante lograda. Nos encontramos con diferentes tipos de elementos, tenemos agua, tierra, fuego y aire. Entonces cada elemento tiene como su sector, no se mezclan entre ellos. La familia fuego vienen de Tierra de Fuego, pues es una pareja de migrantes, se mudan a la ciudad, ya por ahí nos están resaltando la migración, como salir de tu espacio para llegar a una nueva ciudad. La familia de fuego no es aceptada fácilmente, incluso para rentar una habitación, hasta que consiguen un lugar un poco precario, pero ellos lo convierten en su hogar.

Esta pareja de fueguitos tiene una hija llamada Ember a quien sus padres le entregan todo su amor y vemos como la niña va creciendo y muy creativamente, va haciéndose cargo de de algunas actividades del negocio familiar. Sin embargo, todavía no logra satisfacer todas esas expectativas y todas esas cosas que los padres le ponen a la chica. En un ataque de furia, revienta una de las tuberías de agua y se da cuenta que por allí ingresa un elemento de agua. Un ser de agua llamado Wade y se se hacen amigos. Resulta que ese ser de agua es bastante empático, es un llorón (se parece a mí).

Ellos entablan una amistad en pro de no permitir que les cierren el negocio al papá de fuego, y en eso surge una bonita relación que luego se va tornando de otro color. Aquí también, nos resaltan lo que es la diferencia de cada persona, clases sociales, etnias, estatus, conectar con otra persona diferente hace que todo se vuelve más complejo para crear una relación.

Estos chicos se enamoran, pero no se podían tocar porque eran de diferentes elementos hasta que logran de alguna manera conectar, formar una relación poco común. Para mí, una de las cosas más valiosas de la película son los mensajes. Uno de ellos fue que ella realmente no quería ser la encargada de la tienda que construyó su padre, ella de alguna manera, muy interna, quería seguir su propio camino, y no lo que su papá quería que hiciera, que era el negocio familiar.

Creo que lo más importante de la película es el mensaje de aceptación de los padres hacia sus hijos, a vece sin querer, o tal vez queriendo, los padres ponen muchas esperanzas en los hijos o todos sus sueños frustrados y no se permiten escucharlos para saber qué es lo que realmente ellos quieren hacer, Y los hijos entre esa frustración siguen una vida que realmente no desean o no es lo suyo.

Yo podría decir que a mí me pasó. Mis papás querían que yo fuese ingeniero mecánico y yo estudié ingeniería mecánica, pero no hago nada con eso. Solamente les di el título y me dedico al arte. Entonces por eso creo que me sentí muy identificada cuando al final la aceptan y le dan la bendición para que ella continúe su camino. De alguna manera empaticé con ese personaje, porque yo soy así. Es decir, yo estudié ingeniería, quería cubrir las expectativas de mis padres, pero ya luego ellos me dieron su bendición y ya ahora me dedico al arte, soy artista, hago teatro, eh, doy clases de teatro, tengo un café cultural. Entonces ahí lloré como una magdalena.

Es una película muy bonita para ver en familia, para disfrutar, para los que somos padres, entender eso que tenemos que darle el espacio a los hijos para que decidan qué es lo que quieren hacer.

We decided to go to Elements in 3D. My daughter chose it because she said it seemed to be more fun.

At the beginning of the movie, with popcorn and candy in hand, we come across a wonderful short film about Carl, the old protagonist of UP, where he shows the way he is going on a date. For me, one of the most valuable things about the film is the messages. One of them was that she really didn't want to be the manager of the store that her father built, she somehow, very internally, wanted to go her own way, and not what her dad wanted her to do which was the family business.

I think the most important thing about the film is the message of acceptance of parents towards their children, sometimes unintentionally, or maybe willingly, parents put too much hope on their children or all their frustrated dreams and do not allow themselves to listen to them to know what they really want to do, and the children in that frustration follow a life that they do not really want or is not theirs.

I could say that it happened to me. My parents wanted me to be a mechanical engineer and I studied mechanical engineering, but I don't do anything with that. I only gave them the degree and I dedicate myself to art. So I think that's why I felt very identified when they finally accepted her and gave her the blessing for her to continue on her way. Somehow I empathized with that character because I am like that. I mean, I studied engineering, I wanted to meet my parents' expectations, but then they gave me their blessing and now I am dedicated to art, I am an artist, I do theater, I teach theater classes, I have a cultural café.
