La proyección, El ángel de la muerte, está inspirada en el libro The Good Nurse: A True Story of Medicine, Madness and Murder y basado en hechos reales, información suministrada al principio de la cinta, aspecto que me encantó e hizo crecer las expectativas. El director Tobias Lindholm creó un ambiente acorde para contar la historia del enfermero Charlie Cullen; quien pasó por diferentes hospitales de la localidad de New Jersey y Pensilvania, arrebató la vida de muchos pacientes, convirtiéndose en un asesino en serie. La película de 2022 es de género drama, crimen y hechos reales, cuenta situaciones dolorosas sin hacerla cruda, es decir, la manera de actuar del asesino no es agresiva. El mensaje es llevado a través de un buen argumento, las actuaciones, las tomas y la música, fundan incógnitas, ansiedad tenues y un mal sabor por la injusticia en la trama.

Netflix, offers the new audiovisual presentation, entitled, The Good Nurse, starring prominent actors. I decided not to read the synopsis, I got carried away by the title, which generated more interest in watching the film. Then, the actors and the title were enough to see the film and jump into the void. The results, satisfactory, I never stopped being interested, a light film and a crime drama without grotesque violence.

The screening, The Good Nurse, is inspired by the book The Good Nurse: A True Story of Medicine, Madness and Murder and based on real events, information provided at the beginning of the film, an aspect that delighted me and raised my expectations. The director Tobias Lindholm created an appropriate environment to tell the story of the nurse Charlie Cullen; who went through different hospitals in the locality of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, took the lives of many patients, becoming a serial killer. The 2022 film is a drama, crime and real events genre, it tells painful situations without making it crude, that is, the killer's way of acting is not aggressive. The message is conveyed through a good plot, the performances, the shots and the music, which create unknowns, tenuous anxiety and a bad taste for the injustice in the plot.

Al inicio de la película hay una escena de un microscopio, instrumento para detectar lo que no está simple vista o imposible de ver, así que, presto atención a los detalles porque es un dato importante. La historia se desarrolla en un hospital y profesionales del área que ejercen su función de cuidar a los pacientes, realizan la labor de salvar una vida, mientras que el enfermero Cullen, informa y los sonidos de las máquinas anuncian lo peor. El enfermero protagonizado por Eddie Redmayne, a quien admiro, se muestra asombrado y frío. Posterior a esa escena, caracteriza a un sujeto dulce, atento, amistoso; no demuestra ningún signo de malacia o problemas de conducta. Un hombre relajado que cumple su trabajo para los demás y sabe engañar al sistema. Es complejo no sentir nada por Cullen, debido a sus acciones, pero aquí entra la interpretación, hasta qué punto desprecia el cinéfilo al ángel Cullen. Desde mi apreciación, sentí rabia sin intensidad, se debe a la manera como el director pinta el argumento, no enfatiza en la curiosidad de porqué tal conducta, sino cómo llegó el enfermero hasta convertirse en un asesino en serie.

Pocos minutos después, el servicial enfermero viene a ayudar en otro hospital y se hace amigo de la enfermera Amy Loughren, la actriz Jessica Chastain, de quien soy fans. Interpreta a una enfermera; madre soltera que lucha por su vida y la estabilidad de sus hijas. Una mujer que apesar de los problemas, sirve al otro, transmite simpatía y dulzura. Todo lo que veo en ella en este rol me gusta, porque siento la angustia silenciosa, el miedo, la debilidad física y la fuerza para continuar callada, calmada y valiente. Llegué a sentir preocupación acerca del padecimiento y admiración de disfrazar la mentira para que sus hijas y la profesión no descubran la verdad. Los rasgos mencionados son vistos en otras obras del cine, pero me gusta que el carácter forjado de Amy, le permite continuar a pesar de que cada bocanada de aire exigido por el frágil corazón le resta tiempo.

At the beginning of the film there is a scene of a microscope, an instrument to detect what is not in plain sight or impossible to see, so, I pay attention to the details because it is an important piece of information. The story takes place in a hospital and professionals in the area who exercise their function of caring for patients, perform the work of saving a life, while the nurse Cullen, reports and the sounds of the machines announce the worst. The nurse, played by Eddie Redmayne, whom I admire, is shocked and cold. After that scene, he characterizes a sweet, attentive, friendly guy; he shows no signs of bad behavior or behavioral problems. A relaxed man who does his job for others and knows how to cheat the system. It is complex not to feel anything for Cullen, because of his actions, but here comes the interpretation, to what extent the moviegoer despises the angel Cullen. From my appreciation, I felt rage without intensity, it is due to the way the director paints the plot, he does not emphasize the curiosity of why such behavior, but how the nurse came to become a serial killer.

A few minutes later, the helpful nurse comes to help at another hospital and befriends nurse Amy Loughren, actress Jessica Chastain, of whom I am a fan. She plays a nurse; a single mother fighting for her life and the stability of her daughters. A woman who, despite the problems, serves the other, conveys sympathy and sweetness. Everything I see in her in this role I like, because I feel the silent anguish, the fear, the physical weakness and the strength to continue quiet, calm and courageous. I came to feel concern about the suffering and admiration of disguising the lie so that her daughters and the profession do not discover the truth. The aforementioned traits are seen in other works of cinema, but I like that Amy's forged character allows her to continue despite the fact that every breath of air demanded by the fragile heart takes time away from her.

El ángel de la muerte evita dilatar el argumento; además, no hay desconcierto porque los hechos son narrados de manera fluida. Hay 2 misterios que plantea el film, uno conocer por qué el enfermero actúa sin alma y el otro asunto de relevancia, políticas hospitalarias que se burlan de la salud, es decir, la discreción e integridad del recinto, esquiva, tropiezos que pueden afectar la imagen.

Los diálogos del film son directos para hablar del argumento, podemos pasar de una conversación social inofensiva cargada de información y manipulación; a un diálogo profesional de confrontación sobre la cruda verdad y al mismo tiempo una discusión entre policías que investigan el suceso prescrito y los directivos del hospital que ocultan resultados. Por tanto, este último discurso, hizo efecto, me disgustó, tema recurrente en películas que desean transmitir el mensaje a la sociedad, la irresponsabilidad sin importar el derecho del otro y complicar un servicio de bienestar al personal que trabaja en salud.

The Good Nurse, avoids dilating the plot; moreover, there is no bewilderment because the events are narrated in a fluid manner. There are 2 mysteries posed by the film, one to know why the nurse acts without a soul and the other matter of relevance, hospital policies that make a mockery of health, that is, the discretion and integrity of the enclosure, dodges, stumbles that can affect the image.

The dialogues of the film are direct to talk about the argument, we can go from a harmless social conversation loaded with information and manipulation; to a professional dialogue of confrontation about the raw truth and at the same time a discussion between policemen investigating the prescribed event and hospital managers who hide results. Therefore, this last discourse, in effect, disgusted me, a recurring theme in films that wish to convey the message to society, irresponsibility regardless of the right of the other and complicate a welfare service to personnel working in health.
