Mamma Roma - eng/esp
Howdy folks! In this post I will share an illustration I made for a poster/homage to the film Mamma Roma by Italian film director Pier Paolo Pasolini.
This, Pasolini's second film tells the story of a prostitute who tries to leave the trade to reunite with her teenage son and go live with him in a suburban neighborhood of Rome. She desires a different life for her son but reality will lead them to an unexpected end.
To create the Illustration I decided to focus on another protagonist of the film: an architectural ruin of historical and luminous Rome, which is a sharp piece of visual reality, violent, austere and cruel. The pen strokes allowed me to represent the texture of the piece, a reflection of the passage of time, the contrasts of light and shadow; as well as the drawing of the boy at the base, ready to follow a sinuous and tragic path.
The final piece was prepared and designed for its reproduction using the three-color silkscreen printing technique, with a format of 70 by 50 cm.
¡Qué tal amigos! En este post compartiré una ilustración que realicé para un cartel/homenaje al filme Mamma Roma del director de cine italiano Pier Paolo Pasolini.
Este, el segundo filme de Pasolini cuenta la historia de una prostituta que intenta dejar el oficio para reencontrarse con su hijo adolescente e irse a vivir con él a un barrio suburbano de Roma. Ella desea una vida diferente para su hijo pero la realidad les llevará a un final inesperado.
Decidí para crear la Ilustración enfocarme en otro protagonista del filme: una ruina arquitectónica de la Roma histórica y luminosa, cuál trozo punzante de realidad visual, violenta, austera y cruel. Los trazos a plumilla me permitieron representar la textura de la pieza, reflejo del paso del tiempo, los contrastes de luces y sombras; así como el dibujo del muchacho en la base, presto a seguir un camino sinuoso y trágico.
La pieza final fue preparada y pensada para su reproducción mediante la técnica de serigrafía a tres tintas de color, con formato de 70 por 50 cm.
