I got very excited when I read the premise of this week's contest, because who hasn't dreamed about the reboot of one of our favorite series and even more, who hasn't been incredibly happy when they announced the reboot of one of those works that we love so much. All of us at some point have imagined how a certain character would be in today's time or how a certain story would be if the protagonist was a certain way. In my case, one of my favorite reboots is The Nanny.

Me emocioné mucho cuando leí la premisa del concurso de esta semana, porque quién no ha soñado con el reboot de alguna de nuestras series favoritas y aún más, quien no se ha puesto increíblemente feliz cuando han anunciado el reboot de una de esas obras que tanto nos gustan. Todos en algún punto nos hemos imaginado cómo sería determinado personaje en la época de hoy o como sería determinada historia si el protagonista fuera de está determinada manera. En mi caso dentro de mis reboots anhelados está The nanny.

For those who don't know, The Nanny is a sitcom based on the life of Fran Fine, a twenty-something girl who accidentally ends up babysitting the children of a millionaire producer, Mr. Sheffield. The series stands out for Fran's colorful way of being, the advice she gives to the children, her crazy costumes and the chemistry she has with the children's father.

Now, why do I think a reboot is pertinent today. Besides the fact that the series is one of my favorites, enough time has passed (about 20 years) for several situations to arise. Fran Drescher, the main actress, is alive and the lapse of time has given us enough time for the children she took care of (her stepchildren) and her biological children to have grandchildren. My ideal idea of a reboot is the one that gives continuity like what they did with Fuller House (Fuller House) or And just like that (Sex and the city), with most of the original cast and following the original idea a little bit. In this order of ideas, I would love that Fran could be the nanny of her grandchildren, so that as she did with her children, she could empower them in different topics of life with a modern view and perspective. On the other hand, I find it very curious how Fran's style could be nowadays, since this as I mentioned before played an important role in the series, so seeing Fran in her old age and with a style of 2022 is something that would call a lot of curiosity.

Para quienes no saben, The Nanny es una sitcom basada en la vida de Fran Fine una muchacha de veintitantos que por accidente termina siendo niñera de los hijos del un millonario productor, el Sr. Sheffield. La serie destaca por la manera pintoresca de ser de Fran, los consejos que le da a los niños, sus alocados vestuarios y por la química que tiene con el padre de los niños.
Ahora bien, ¿por qué considero que hoy día un reboot es pertinente?. Además de que la serie es una de mis favoritas ha pasado tiempo suficiente (unos 20 años) para que puedan darse varias situaciones. Fran Drescher la actriz protagonista está viva y el lapso transcurrido nos da para que los niños que cuidaba (sus hijastros) y sus hijos biologicos ya tengan nietos. Mi idea ideal de reboot es el que le da continuación como lo que hicieron con Fuller House (Fuller House) o And just like that (Sex and the city), con gran parte del cast original y siguiendo un poco la idea original. En este orden de ideas, me encantaría que Fran pudiera ser la niñera de sus nietos, para que así como hizo con su hijos los empodere en diferentes temas de la vida con una vista y perspectiva moderna. Por otra parte me parece curiosísimo como podría ser el estilo de Fran hoy día, ya que este como venía mencionando jugaba un papel importante en la serie, entonces ver a Fran entrada en años y con un estilo del 2022 es algo que llamaria mucho la curiosidad.

I would also like to include what happened or what the children did as adults, i.e. who they married, what careers they chose and the repercussions this had on the story for both Fran and her grandchildren. I think that the new touch to the story could be given by replacing CC Babcock (Mr. Sheffield's partner) or Niles (the butler) because even though they are good characters for a new story in the terms I am proposing it I feel they would not have much relevance, then we could have a new butler or a new housekeeper and the antagonist figure representing CC in another person, it could be a daughter-in-law of Fran or some evil guardian of the children. Finally, I would like to know what happened between Fran and Mr. Sheffield, are they still together, do they need to rescue the spark? What has happened in these 20 years with the two of them.

So, as you read, a reboot of The Nanny, the famous sitcom from the 90's would be ideal for me. I hope you liked it, thanks for making it this far. Goodbye!

También me gustaría que se incluyera el que paso o que hicieron los niños como adultos, es decir, con quién se casaron, que carreras eligieron y la repercusión que tuvo esto en la historia tanto para Fran cómo para sus nietos. Creo que el toque nuevo a la historia se lo podríamos dar reemplazando a CC Babcock (la socia del Sr. Sheffield) o a Niles (el mayordomo) porque a pesar de ser buenos caracteres para una historia nueva en los términos que la estoy planteando siento que no tendrían mayor relevancia, entonces podríamos tener un nuevo mayordomo o una nueva ama de llaves y la figura antagónica que representana CC en otra persona, podría ser una nuera de Fran o algún tutor malvado de los niños. Por último me gustaría que nos contarán que paso entre Fran y el Sr. Sheffield. ¿Siguen juntos? ¿Necesitan rescatar la chispa? Que ha pasado en estos 20 años con ellos dos.
Entonces, así como leyeron, un reboot de The Nanny, el famoso sitcom de los 90's sería ideal para mí. Espero les haya gustado, gracias por llegar hasta aquí. Adiós!
