"Rojo, blanco y sangre azul" ha sido una de las adaptaciones que más he esperado este año, luego de haber leído el libro hace un par de meses, porque realmente me gustó mucho la historia, toda la manera en que la autora desarrolla la historia en el libro prometía ser increíble o al menos muy buena en la pantalla grande, y la verdad tengo sentimientos bastante encontrados con esta adaptación, a través de este post les contaré que me genera esto.

Antes que todo, para quienes no conocen el libro les hablaré de que trata la historia: Alex Claremont-Diaz es un Playboy hijo de la presidenta de Estados Unidos quien es enviado a representar a su país a la boda del príncipe heredero del Reino Unido, allí se encuentra con Henry, otro de los príncipes británicos con quién desde hace algunos años guarda una relación de enemistad. Alex estando un poco ebrio, quiere molestar a Henry y juntos terminan derrumbando el pastel de bodas, causando toda una conmoción internacional. Es por esto que deben comenzar una gran labor de control de daños para que tanto la corona británica como la reelección de la presidenta Ellen no se vean perjudicadas, allí es donde surge la chispa entre este par.

Con respecto a las cosas que me gustaron tengo que decir que la elección de los protagonistas es PERFECTA, la quimica entre Taylor Zahkar Pérez (The kissing both) quién hace de Alex y Nicholas Galitzine (Purple Hearts) es INCREÍBLE, cada gesto, cada mirada, cada contacto que tienen, solo transpiran amor, pasión y ternura, que es algo que está muy bien descrito en el libro y que habría sido una pena que no se transmitiera a la pantalla. Otra cosa que me gustó bastante, es como adaptaron el personaje de Zahra, la esencia del personaje tampoco se perdió, también he de decir que el soundtrack es bellísimo, es una pena que no pudieran tener canciones de Taylor Swift (a la autora muy abiertamente no le gusta la cantante) porque hay varias que canciones que le vendrían como anillo al dedo, pero los productores supieron palear esto y música que va desde Schubert hasta Bad Bunny pasando por Bowie y Rigoberta Bandini, lograron complementar muy bien la historia.

Ahora bien, hay varias cosas que no me gustaron, la principal es que omitieron uno de los personajes más importantes de la historia que es la hermana de Alex, que se llama June, su parte en la historia fue absorbida por Nora, que es la nieta del vicepresidente y quien siempre estaba con los dos hermanos Claremont-Diaz, siento que esto no fue favorecedor a la historia porque hay varios momentos entre hermanos que pasan en el libro que habrían aportado bastante a la película. También, le restaron bastante importancia a una serie de e-mails que se envían Alex y Henry, mediante los cuales se desarrolla su historia de amor, estos representan unas cartas de amor bellísimas y no vimos mucho de ellos en la adaptación. Asimismo, otro personaje que no incluyeron en la historia es la mamá de Henry, quien también con sus acciones aporta momentos muy importantes a la historia y por último faltaron algunos momentos del libro que me gustaria haber visto en la película como la escena de los Cornettos, con la que nos emocionaron en la promoción de la misma, siento que la adaptación se quedó un poco corta en ese sentido.

Tengo entendido que Amazon declaró que la película sin cortes duraría 3 horas, la verdad me gustaría mucho que sacaran esa versión, porque a pesar de lo que expuse anteriormente la película se ha convertido en una de mis "confort movies" en las últimas semanas y la he visto varias veces ya, así que la disfruto y me gustó bastante, recomiendo verla, le doy 3.5/5

"Red, white and royal blood" has been one of the adaptations that I have been waiting for this year, after reading the book a couple of months ago, because I really liked the story, the way the author develops the story in the book promised to be amazing or at least very good on the big screen, and the truth is that I have quite mixed feelings with this adaptation, through this post I will tell you what this generates in me.

First of all, for those who do not know the book I will tell you what the story is about: Alex Claremont-Diaz is a Playboy son of the president of the United States who is sent to represent his country at the wedding of the crown prince of the United Kingdom, there he meets Henry, another of the British princes with whom for some years he has had an enmity relationship. Alex, being a little drunk, wants to annoy Henry and together they end up knocking down the wedding cake, causing an international commotion. This is why they must start a great work of damage control so that both the British crown and the reelection of President Ellen are not harmed, that is where the spark between this pair arises.

Regarding the things I liked I have to say that the choice of the main characters is PERFECT, the chemistry between Taylor Zahkar Perez (The kissing both) who plays Alex and Nicholas Galitzine (Purple Hearts) is AMAZING, every gesture, every look, every contact they have, just transpire love, passion and tenderness, which is something that is very well described in the book and that would have been a shame not to be transmitted to the screen. Another thing I liked a lot, is how they adapted the character of Zahra, the essence of the character was not lost, I must also say that the soundtrack is beautiful, it is a shame that they could not have songs by Taylor Swift (the author very openly does not like the singer) because there are several songs that would fit her like a glove, but the producers knew how to overcome this and music ranging from Schubert to Bad Bunny through Bowie and Rigoberta Bandini, managed to complement the story very well.

However, there are several things that I did not like, the main one is that they omitted one of the most important characters of the story which is Alex's sister, her name is June, her part in the story was absorbed by Nora, who is the granddaughter of the vice president and who was always with the two Claremont-Diaz brothers, I feel that this was not favorable to the story because there are several moments between brothers that happen in the book that would have contributed a lot to the film. Also, they downplayed a series of e-mails that Alex and Henry send to each other, through which their love story unfolds, these represent beautiful love letters and we didn't see much of them in the adaptation. Also, another character that was not included in the story is Henry's mother, who also with her actions contributes very important moments to the story and finally there were some moments missing from the book that I would like to have seen in the movie like the scene of the Cornettos, with which we were excited in the promotion of the movie, I feel that the adaptation fell a little short in that sense.

I understand that Amazon stated that the uncut movie would last 3 hours, I really wish they would release that version, because despite what I said above the movie has become one of my "comfort movies" in the last weeks and I have seen it several times already, so I enjoy it and liked it a lot, I recommend watching it, I give it 3.5/5.
