Since I was a child I watched the Grand Prix with my dad, but for some time I lost track of motosports, since a few days ago I have been catching up with the history of contemporary drivers and I came across this Netflix documentary that came out in 2021, as a Ferrari fan I was very excited to see unpublished material of the "Kaiser" plus from the trailer we could see that we have testimonies from his family and colleagues, I also thought we could have some update on his health.

The documentary starts with Michael's rise to F1, which caused a stir because he was a "young" 23 year old boy and the other drivers were already old hands, which I found a bit funny compared to Vettel's rise at 19 and Verstappen's at 17. Then they tell us all about his career with the Bennetton team, which was where he catapulted him to fame, then his move to Ferrari, which started off a bit stormy, because despite being such a good driver, the cars the scuderia had at the time were terrible, which didn't make it possible for him to win the world championship straight away. I think it's worth noting that we are shown a part of Michael's temperament that was well known, that he was a bit stubborn bordering on foolish and that this on the track can be quite damaging. We also see how he was affected by the death of Aytor Senna and not being able to win with Ferrari despite trying so hard.

As Michael becomes "The Kaiser", the testimonies of his family and colleagues give us details of what he was like both on and off the track. Corinna, his wife, points out that he was the life of the party and that he was a very considerate person who made all the members of the team feel like one big family and that is why everyone was more than happy to work with him. We also see how Mick and Gina (his children) talk about how he influenced them in their careers. Another testimony that stands out is that of Mika Häkkinen, his "rival", who tells us what it was like to race against him. Regarding his health, we do get a little update although it is a bit vague, we are told that he is fine and that they are doing everything they can to make him comfortable, but they don't tell us exactly how he is doing.

I really loved the documentary, I even cried a little, it is an excellent tribute to one of the best drivers -not to say the best in history- of Formula 1 that is told in a homely and familiar way, full of material from the Schumacher family archive, this will make you feel that it is a conversation between friends talking about another friend and not about a star, I really recommend it.
