Dog (2022)

I saw this movie on the Youtube platform, it caught my attention that the main protagonist is a Belgian war dog, who is affected by having lost his master in combat and forgetting the fact that he has served all his life to the cause of the country will be sacrificed.

However, given the desire of his wife, Lulu, name of this, must first be taken to the funeral of his trainer that will be in Nogales and for such a task entrusted by particular circumstances to the ranger Jackson Briggs the task, this suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Both animal and man on the road trip from Washington to the place of the funeral must face their own demons, which in the end are similar.

Channing Tatum is both the protagonist and director of the film, sharing this last task with Reid Carolin, who is also the author of the screenplay and both made their debut as producers.

The film was shot in mid-2020 in the California towns of Valencia and Lancaster at the height of the pandemic.

It was released in 2022 and had a strong publicity campaign by United Artists Releasing, had a lukewarm critical reception, but grossed approximately $85 million at the box office, which far exceeded the $15 million it cost to produce.

It is entertaining and undoubtedly was not made for large crowds, it addresses somewhat complicated issues such as the exploitation of animals in war work without any consideration for them, something that I found very specific, and the effects of war on some soldiers who find it difficult to integrate into society after being on the front lines.

There is also the romantic theme between the relationship between man's best friend and man's best friend and vice versa, without delving into less commercial aspects.

It is entertaining and superficial, I enjoyed it but I think it could have been more profitable.

In Spanish America the adjective "Un Viaje Salvaje" was added to the title of Dog.
