Despite the negative comments I read before watching it, I looked it up on a streaming platform and watched it with my wife.

I tried not to be prejudiced about it and I enjoyed it, but without agreeing with those who commented that the script contained unexpected twists that confused and cut the sequence, so it cannot be considered good, this film written by Gregg Hurwitz, but it does address some thought-provoking issues.

Henry is a child prodigy who lives with his brother and mother in a suburban town in the Hudson Valley, the latter works as a waitress and has a hobby of writing children's stories that she reads to them every night.

The atmosphere in the town is normal, with the everyday problems of any part and a bully at school that Henry must defend his younger brother named Peter.

The eleven year old boy uses his intelligence to successfully invest in the stock market, to build Rube Goldberg machines in his tree house and to read everything he can, so he handles any subject with ease.

The neighbor, who studies with him, lives with her stepfather who is the commissioner of the local police and the boy, given the change in her attitude begins to suspect that something has changed and one night he checks it by seeing it from his window and decides to write in a book the necessary steps to eliminate it.

But a tumor in his head close to his plans and he dies, leaving his brother and mother devastated, until she discovers the book and decides to follow the boy's plans to the letter.

Naomi Watts' performance as Susan Carpenter is good, as is Jaeden Lieberher's as the child prodigy, who won the 2014 Las Vegas Film Critics Society Awards for Best Young Actor.

The film despite being low cost, just 10 million dollars failed to collect what was invested in it and only 4 million 600 came in at the box office, no doubt the strong criticism against the script and the director Colin Trevorrow influenced the interest of viewers.

Personally I do not consider it a bad movie, maybe the theme is not so well handled and the abrupt changes of scene and action are not the right ones but in the end they deal with a very important issue such as child abuse.
