[Movie] Before Falling (2017) A rather strange punishment[Eng-Spn]
The film is about a teenager who had everything anyone could want: she was rich, beautiful, and intelligent. But at the same time, she was arrogant, and not only her, but also her friends.
From my perspective, they were quite superficial and somewhat unpleasant people who didn't share their interests or who they simply didn't like. At one point in the story, she and her friends are invited to a party, which they decide to attend. During the event, the protagonist, in the middle of the celebration, humiliates a girl who was already the target of constant ridicule from the others.
This girl, named Juliet Sykes (played by Elena Kampouris), suffered bullying at school from many of her classmates, especially from this group of girls, and particularly from the protagonist, Samantha "Sam" Kingston, played by actress Zoey Deutch.
Feeling superior to Julie and without a shred of guilt for her recent humiliation, Sam leaves the party with her friends. At an inopportune moment, they are involved in a car accident, hitting the girl they had just humiliated. Just as Julie loses consciousness, she awakens again at the beginning of the previous day, which will now be her only present, and so she repeats the days. Over and over again.
Every day, Sam wakes up and that day repeats endlessly. No matter how hard she tries to escape this loop, she eventually gets fed up and resorts to doing the craziest things imaginable: ruining her friendships, jumping on tables, becoming an emo girl, and much more, until she's tired of suffering, of repeating her life over and over, and still dying in the accident or restarting her life from the previous morning.
After multiple attempts, the protagonist carries out one last desperate act. Overwhelmed by the humiliation she inflicted on the young girl, she decides to commit suicide, hoping that the girl will not die. In each repetition of the events, the young girl who suffered bullying always died, filling the protagonist with guilt. By choosing to take her own life, she sought peace both with herself and with the girl she had humiliated.
I think it's quite a traumatic story, and many might find it somewhat exaggerated, but as a girl who suffered bullying for a long time, I can tell you that the experience of being bullied is very overwhelming. However, I wouldn't wish such a terrible punishment on my aggressors. Instead, I believe it's crucial to promote empathy and understanding so that we can all learn from these experiences and work together to create a more supportive and respectful environment. In the end, true change begins with compassion and the importance of recognizing respect and empathy; I believe it can be achieved if we learn to be empathetic.

"Sam" sintiéndose superior a ella y sin una gota de culpa por la reciente humillación a "Julie" se va de la fiesta con sus amigas a las cuales en un momento inoportuno sufren un accidente automovilístico chocando a la chica a la cual habían humillado previamente y justo cuando la protagonista queda inconsciente se despierta nuevamente en el comienzo de su día anterior el cual ahora será su único presente y así ella repite los días una y otra vez.
Cada día "Sam" despierta y ese día se repite interminablemente. Por más que lo intenta intenta salir de ese bucle hasta que de un momento a otro se cansa y opta por hacer las cosas más locas que se pueda imaginar, arruinando sus amistades ,brincando en las mesas ,volviéndose una chica emo y mucho más hasta que se cansa de tanto sufrir repitiendo su vida una y otra vez y aun así muriendo en el accidente o reiniciando su vida a la mañana anterior.
Después de múltiples intentos, la protagonista lleva a cabo un último acto desesperado. Se siente abrumada por la humillación que infligió a la joven y decide suicidarse, con la esperanza de que así la chica no muera ya que en cada repetición de los eventos, curiosamente, la joven que sufría bullying siempre fallecía, lo que llenó a la protagonista de culpa. Al optar por quitarse la vida, busca encontrar la paz tanto consigo misma como con la chica a la que había humillado.
Creo que es una historia bastante traumática y a muchos pudiera parecerles un tanto exagerada, pero como una chica que ha sufrido bullying durante mucho tiempo, puedo decirles que la experiencia de sufrir acoso escolar es muy abrumadora. Sin embargo, no le desearía un castigo tan atroz a mis agresores. En lugar de eso, creo que es fundamental promover la empatía y la comprensión, para que todos podamos aprender de estas experiencias y trabajar juntos para crear un ambiente más solidario y respetuoso. Al final, el verdadero cambio comienza con la compasión y la importancia de reconocer el respeto y la empatía, creo que se puede lograr si logramos ser empáticos.
