Me encanta poder compartir lo que pienso, especialmente porque a veces en mi entorno no siempre se toman mis opiniones de la mejor manera... jejeje. Así que Hive es como mi rincón seguro para expresarme libremente.

En esta ocasión quiero hablarles de una película que vi recientemente y que, sinceramente, me dejó bastante confundida: se trata de "Love My Scent" (2023).

This time I want to tell you about a movie that I saw recently and that, honestly, left me quite confused: it is "Love My Scent"

🎬 Una comedia romántica que prometía... pero no cumplió /A romantic comedy that promised... but failed to deliver.

La película cuenta con un elenco interesante: Yoon Shi-yoon como Chang-soo, Noh Sang-hyun como Jaime, Seol In-ah como Ara, e Im Do-hwa como An Yeong. En teoría, tenía todo para ser una comedia romántica divertida y entrañable.

The movie features an interesting cast: Yoon Shi-yoon as Chang-soo, Noh Sang-hyun as Jaime, Seol In-ah as Ara, and Im Do-hwa as An Yeong. On paper, it had everything to be a fun and endearing romantic comedy.

La historia gira en torno a un chico torpe que nunca ha tenido una relación adecuada. Cada día ve a una chica en el autobús de camino al trabajo, pero nunca se atreve a hablarle. Por cosas del destino, termina con un misterioso perfume en las manos… y resulta que ese aroma provoca que todas las mujeres se sientan atraídas por él, incluida la chica que siempre observa desde lejos.

The story revolves around an awkward boy who has never had a proper relationship. Every day he sees a girl on the bus on his way to work, but he never dares to talk to her. As fate would have it, he ends up with a mysterious perfume in his hands... and it turns out that this scent causes all women to be attracted to him, including the girl he always watches from afar.

✨ Suena interesante, ¿verdad? Bueno, en la práctica no lo fue tanto.

Sounds interesting, doesn't it? Well, in practice it wasn't so interesting.

💔 ¿Romance forzado? Un desarrollo muy apresurado/Forced romance? A very hurried development

Yo esperaba una historia romántica más natural, donde los protagonistas vivieran momentos juntos que hicieran crecer su conexión poco a poco. Pero aquí el romance se siente completamente forzado. La primera interacción real entre los protagonistas ocurre pasada la media hora, ¡y la película apenas dura menos de dos horas!

I was expecting a more natural romantic story, where the protagonists experience moments together that make their connection grow little by little. But here the romance feels completely forced. The first real interaction between the main characters happens past the half hour mark, and the movie is barely less than two hours long!

Eso hace que sea muy difícil empatizar con ellos como pareja. Todo avanza demasiado rápido, sin que uno pueda disfrutar el proceso ni conectar emocionalmente con sus sentimientos.

That makes it very difficult to empathize with them as a couple. Everything moves too fast, without one being able to enjoy the process or connect emotionally with their feelings.

🧪 El experimento: confuso y mal explicado/The experiment: confusing and poorly explained.

Otro punto que me pareció flojo fue el experimento del perfume. Hay una escena donde aparece un señor con su esposa hablando del experimento, pero también se menciona que el creador del perfume es el exnovio de la protagonista. Entonces… ¿quién lo creó realmente? ¿Qué tiene que ver ese señor? La película no se toma el tiempo para explicar bien este punto, y termina siendo incoherente y enredado.

Another point that seemed weak to me was the perfume experiment. There is a scene where a man appears with his wife talking about the experiment, but it is also mentioned that the creator of the perfume is the ex-boyfriend of the protagonist. So who really created it? What does this man have to do with it? The film doesn't take the time to explain this point well, and it ends up being incoherent.

😂 Lo bueno: algo de humor y Seol In-ah/The good: some humor and Seol In-ah.

No todo fue malo. La película tiene sus momentos graciosos y livianos que te sacan una sonrisa. Además, me gusta mucho la actriz Seol In-ah, aunque siento que su talento no fue aprovechado del todo. Con otro guion, otro enfoque, estoy segura de que habría brillado mucho más.

It wasn't all bad. The movie has its funny and light-hearted moments that bring a smile to your face. Also, I really like the actress Seol In-ah, although I feel that her talent was not fully utilized. With another script, another approach, I'm sure she would have shined much brighter.
🎬 Mi veredicto final: 4/10

El final es tan abrupto que me dejó con una sensación de "¿ya? ¿eso fue todo?". Me decepcionó bastante. En resumen, una película con una premisa curiosa, pero mal ejecutada. Una historia que pudo haber sido dulce y romántica terminó siendo rápida, confusa y con un desarrollo pobre.

The ending is so abrupt that it left me with a "already? that was it?" feeling. I was quite disappointed. In short, a movie with a curious premise, but poorly executed. A story that could have been sweet and romantic ended up being fast, confusing and poorly developed.
