Miss Granny: A film that will make you rejuvenate

Hoy quiero compartirles una reseña sobre una película que vi recientemente y que, aunque no esperaba demasiado de ella, terminó resultando una experiencia interesante. A veces, después de un día agotador, lo único que quiero es desconectar del mundo con una película entretenida y ligera, y en esta ocasión, le tocó el turno a *Miss Granny*.

Hello, dear Hive community. I hope you are feeling great. Today I want to share with you a review of a movie I saw recently and, although I didn't expect too much from it, it ended up being an interesting experience. Sometimes, after a tiring day, all I want is to disconnect from the world with an entertaining and light movie, and on this occasion, it was Miss Granny's turn.

Esta película surcoreana cuenta con la actuación de Shim Eun-Kyung (Oh Doo-ri), Na Moon-hee (Oh Mal-soon), Park In-hwan (Young Mr. Park) y Jung Jin-young (Ban Ji-ha), entre otros. La historia sigue a Mal-soon, una mujer de unos setenta años con una personalidad fuerte y un temperamento difícil. Su hijo, a quien crió en circunstancias complicadas, ahora es un respetado profesor y tiene su propia familia. Sin embargo, la convivencia con su madre se vuelve cada vez más tensa, especialmente para su esposa, quien vive en un constante estado de estrés por el carácter de Mal-soon. La situación llega al punto en que la familia se plantea enviarla a un asilo. Pero todo cambia cuando, por obra del destino y la intervención de un misterioso fotógrafo, Mal-soon rejuvenece cincuenta años de la noche a la mañana.

This South Korean film stars Shim Eun-Kyung (Oh Doo-ri), Na Moon-hee (Oh Mal-soon), Park In-hwan (Young Mr. Park) and Jung Jin-young (Ban Ji-ha), among others. The story follows Mal-soon, a woman in her seventies with a strong personality and a difficult temperament. Her son, whom she raised under complicated circumstances, is now a respected teacher and has a family of his own. However, living with his mother becomes increasingly tense, especially for his wife, who lives in a constant state of stress because of Mal-soon's temper. The situation reaches the point where the family considers sending her to a nursing home. But everything changes when, through fate and the intervention of a mysterious photographer, Mal-soon rejuvenates fifty years overnight.

La premisa de la película es bastante peculiar y, aunque no esperaba gran cosa, me sorprendió el ritmo entretenido que mantiene durante la mayor parte de la historia. Miss Granny es una comedia con toques de drama que juega con la idea de una segunda oportunidad en la juventud. Sin embargo, aunque la transformación de Mal-soon resulta interesante, su personalidad no cambia demasiado, lo que me dificultó empatizar con ella. Sigue siendo una persona testaruda y, en ocasiones, grosera, lo que justifica en cierta medida la frustración de su nuera. Me hubiera gustado que la película explorara más su evolución emocional y trabajara en una redención más profunda del personaje.

Another aspect that I found a bit strange was the relationship with his grandson, as at times there seemed to be some sort of attraction between them, which was a bit awkward. Also, I felt that some of the supporting characters were underdeveloped, which made the story revolve almost exclusively around Mal-soon as a young man.

Otro aspecto que me pareció un tanto extraño fue la relación con su nieto, ya que por momentos parecía que había una especie de atracción entre ellos, lo cual resultó algo incómodo. Además, sentí que algunos personajes secundarios no tuvieron suficiente desarrollo, lo que hizo que la historia girara en torno casi exclusivamente a Mal-soon en su versión joven.

A pesar de estos detalles, hay elementos que realmente disfruté. La banda sonora es uno de los puntos más fuertes de la película, con canciones que encajan perfectamente con la historia y una interpretación vocal muy bonita por parte de la protagonista. También me gustó el intento de desarrollar una historia de amor dentro de la trama, que aunque no fue el foco principal, aportó un toque dulce a la película.

Despite these details, there are elements that I really enjoyed. The soundtrack is one of the strongest points of the film, with songs that fit perfectly with the story and a very nice vocal performance by the protagonist. I also liked the attempt to develop a love story within the plot, which although not the main focus, brought a sweet touch to the film.

En cuanto al mensaje, Miss Granny nos deja una reflexión interesante sobre el paso del tiempo, la familia y la importancia de aceptar la vida tal como es. Mal-soon tuvo una juventud difícil: quedó viuda a una edad temprana y tuvo que sacar adelante a su hijo sola, lo que le impidió disfrutar plenamente su vida. Su repentina juventud le da la oportunidad de experimentar lo que no pudo en su momento, pero al final, comprende que lo más valioso es la familia y aceptar el camino que hemos recorrido.

As for the message, Miss Granny leaves us with an interesting reflection on the passage of time, family and the importance of accepting life as it is. Mal-soon had a difficult youth: she was widowed at a young age and had to raise her son alone, which prevented her from fully enjoying her life. Her sudden youth gives her the opportunity to experience what she could not at the time, but in the end, she realizes that the most valuable thing is family and accepting the path we have traveled.

En general, considero que la película cumple su función como una comedia ligera con un toque emotivo, aunque tiene ciertos detalles que pudieron haberse desarrollado mejor. Para mí, es un filme disfrutable pero no memorable, por lo que le daría un 6/10.

In general, I consider that the film fulfills its function as a light comedy with an emotional touch, although it has certain details that could have been better developed. For me, it is an enjoyable but not memorable film, so I would give it a 6/10.
