Film Review - The Villainess (2017)

After watching 2 previous South Korean Action Thriller films, tonight I finally decided to watch another South Korean Action Thriller film entitled The Villainess.

I've wanted to watch this film for a very long time after seeing several short epic scenes on several social media such as Youtube, Instagram and Tiktok, but tonight I just had the chance to watch it together with my younger brother.

This film, which was released in 2017, tells the story of a woman who becomes very powerful and brutal in killing her enemies due to holding a grudge against someone who killed her father in the past.

The film was directed by Jung Byung-gil and stars great actors named Kim Ok-vin, Shin Ha-kyun, Sung Joon and several other great actors.

The 129 minute film actually has a very complicated storyline because the film flows back and forth. This film also has a very epic plot twist that made me and my little brother feel very tense while watching this film.

The context of this film, tells the story of a woman with the status of a widow with one child who is forced to work as a government agent. Seeing the status of the main character in this film made me feel sad.

Throughout the storyline of this film, we will be confused about which one is the enemy and which one is the friend of the main character in the film, because this brutal and sadistic film combines the State Intelligence Organization and sadistic gangsters.

We even had time to guess and bet on who was the real enemy in this film, in every scene shown throughout the film we will only see the serious faces of each character in this film, there is no excessive laughter or romantic drama.

However, what makes this film even more interesting is that the director managed to combine a bit of romantic drama into the main character's passionate revenge.

The romantic drama that was shown also made me even more confused about the real story that the director wanted to reveal to the audience, but that curiosity made me never blink so that I could watch all the storylines of this film perfectly.

As we all know, if Ginseng Country has published an action thriller genre film, then they never mess around in making every scene very epic.

The bloody scenes during fights using sharp weapons such as knives, axes and swords really make us feel scared when watching them, as well as the brutal shooting scenes that take place at close range can really make the adrenaline of the audience of this film shake high. .

Even though the rating for this film is only 6.6 from the IMDB site, I have no reason to say that this is a bad film, I'm sure everyone will really like watching this film.

In my opinion, this is a good and great film, from various aspects that I saw throughout the film, the director really made this film with all his heart.

Each character in the film is also very total in their acting, the narrative built by each character in the film is also very suitable with the mission and main story of the film which has the theme of revenge.

The sound tones that appear in the film, such as the sound of blood splashing, screams, crying, and even the chatter of each actor in each scene are created perfectly which manages to keep the audience hypnotized throughout the film.

Even though this film looks very scary with the bloody scenes in the thriller scenes, this film looks very real without the slightest editing, although there are some bloody scenes which look a little excessive, but for an Asian film, for me this is a very good film .

Actually, I don't want to spoil the actual plot twist of this film, but I want to give a little hint about the epic plot twist that makes you want to watch this film immediately. The plot twist is that it turns out that the main protagonist of this film is the person the character loves most. main character in this film.

The place continues to be made to look dark and eerie, making the thriller aura of this film even more frightening, my younger brother and I felt even more nervous when watching this film.

A mixture of anger, admiration and sadness always haunts my mind while watching this film. I highly recommend all my friends to watch this exciting film too because the storyline is very good and will keep us entertained.

The conclusion I can get from this film is, be careful when you want to trust someone who continues to be kind to you, maybe that person is preparing a knife to stab you in the back.

And if you want to fall in love with someone, look at that person with intelligent logic so that we are not blinded by mortal love which will make us destroyed and lose the motivation to continue living.

This world is indeed cruel, therefore train your thinking and mental patterns well so that your life can move in the right direction so that it ends in eternal happiness.
