In the benefactors defence, he does have a disease that causes insanity.

He's not even that monstrously ugly, am I right?

He's straight up hot.

I will say though, the building montages were fantastic.

I think the biggest change that made me mad was the involvement of wolves. Changing the creatures loss to being from wolves instead of people just, it cut so much of an important moment from the story. Plus the wolves and dead sheep looked so jarringly bad.

I've been trying to articulate why this movie didn't hit well and you nailed a lot of my issues. I'm a little less harsh and still gave it a 7/10 because I was enthralled by some parts.

Yep!

And look, there were things to like about it for sure. I really liked Elizabeth's love of insects and her costumes, and I liked the set design too. I probably would also give it a 7, to be fair. I can sound harsh, but that's the uber critic in me.

I've not, I'm more familiar with the role syphilis played in changing how people saw mental disorders. When an actual effective treatment for syphilis was found(which was originally giving someone malaria so their body would fight both) it changed it from being a morale disease to being a biological one.

Elizabeth was such an upgrade from the doll she was in the book. It's been a while since I read it but did she even speak in the book?

And being harsh is not inherently unfair, just means it's harder to impress. Which is fine.

I'm also going to check out Pretty little things. I do love a frankenstine story.
