Going back to the movies 🎞️ with this cinematic gem was a bittersweet experience.

Let’s try to calm the hyperventilation 😱

Would I recommend the movie? Yes, a thousand times yes. But I must admit it’s not for everyone 🌎 because if you’re not ready to see on the big screen the soap opera our lives as Venezuelans have been for the past 20 years, then maybe skip the anxiety 😰.

I was very surprised by the direction of the film. As usual, I didn’t see any spoilers. I knew absolutely nothing about the movie except that Edgar Ramírez was involved in the production. Because of the title, I thought it would be about the blackouts ❌.

But it took me in a completely different direction, so I just let the story guide me and followed along.

I have to highlight the cast, especially the rojitos 🔴. I was so scared of them 😨 that I kept repeating in my head that it was fiction. But is it really? 🥲

Yes, there is exaggeration and drama with a strong focus. However, the details, the changes in camera angles, the environmental scenes — for me, they were everything and more. There were so many ways they could have represented our customs, and they chose incredibly well.

The knot in my throat followed the entire story. I felt exposed and vulnerable 😰 in the movie theater 🎥. Before the screening started, there was excitement, laughter, movement. And during the film 🫥 silence took over everything. We were all holding back the urge to cry.

Out of all the movies I’ve watched, the feeling when leaving the theater was one of the strangest I’ve ever experienced. And even more so among Venezuelans. We kept our heads down, almost avoiding recognizing each other or making eye contact — as if we didn’t want to fully acknowledge that what we had just seen on screen is something we actually lived through. Even with exaggerated scenes, I dare say there is more than one Venezuelan who experienced something even worse 💔.

CONCLUSION

The movie is simply a portrait of the exposed wound we carry — one that no one else can truly understand. The succession of chaotic events and how we prioritized survival without basic services, along with the entire social and political web, cannot possibly fit into a single film. But the gesture and the attempt are deeply appreciated.

At least my mom, my best friend, and I were able to breathe and look at what we’ve lived through, knowing that the world is starting to raise its voice and that our story is no longer hidden again.

Let’s keep making noise. This is just the beginning of many works that will recreate our scars. And it’s necessary for that raw truth to be exposed in history so future generations don’t have to go through the same.

Ahoguemos la hiperventilación 😱

¿Recomiendo la peli? Sí y mil veces sí. Pero debo reconocer que no es para todo el mundo 🌎 porque sí aún no estás preparado para ver en pantalla grande el culebrón que ha sido nuestra vida como venezolanos en los últimos 20 años, entonces saltáte la ansiedad 😰.

Me sorprendió muchísimo la dirección de la cinta, como de costumbre yo no ví ningún spoiler, no sabía nada de la peli solo que Edgar Ramírez estaba detrás de la producción. Pensé que se trataría de los apagones por el título ❌

Pero me llevó por otro giro de la historia, así que me dejé guiar, y seguir la escuela. Debo destacar al cast, en especial a los rojitos 🔴 les tuve tanto miedo 😨 que constantemente repetí en mi cabeza que era ficción. ¿Pero lo es? 🥲

Que sí, que hay exageración y dramas con mucho foco. Sin embargo, los detalles, los cambios de ángulo, las escenas del ambiente para mí lo fueron todo y más. Tantas cosas con las que podían representar nuestras costumbres y acertaron con las elecciones.

El nudo el garganta hacía el seguimiento de todo, me sentí desnuda y vulnerable 😰 en la sala del cine 🎥 antes de iniciar la proyección había ánimo, risas, actividad. Y durante la transmisión 🫥 el silencio lo abarcó todo. Aguantábamos las ganas de llorar por supuesto.

De todas las películas, a la salida la sensación fue de las más raras que he experimentado. Y es más entre venezolanos, agachábamos la cabeza, como para no reconocernos ni hacer contacto visual y menos aterrizar que eso que proyectaron lo vivimos en carne propia, pese a que hay escenas exageradas, me atrevo a decir que hay más de un venezolano que lo vivió peor 💔

CONCLUSIÓN

Simplemente la película es un retrato de la herida expuesta que tenemos y cargamos, esa que nadie más puede entender. La sucesión de eventos caóticos y cómo fuimos priorizando la supervivencia sin contar con los servicios básicos, más todo el entramado social y político no caben en una película. Pero se agradece el gesto y el intento.

Al menos yo, mi mamá y mi mejor amiga pudimos coger aire y ver lo que hemos vivido sabiendo que en el mundo se está alzando la voz y que nuestra historia no está de nuevo escondida. Sigamos haciendo ruido, este es el principio de muchas obras que recrearán nuestras cicatrices y es necesario que la crudeza sea expuesta en la historia para que las próximas generaciones no pasen lo mismo.
