Let’s talk about ”Your Name” which is one of the best anime movies that has captivated my attention through it’s story, music, visual stunning & full of emotions. This movie is directed by Makoto Shinkai. The story is about 2 teenagers they have magical connection where they can do the miracle of swapping bodies. It gets more twisting when the boy and girl decides to meet each other face to face.

The girl’s name is Mitsuha and she is the daughter of the mayor in a small town. She is in a high school girl and lives with her grandma and her younger sister, she shows that she has no interest in Shinto rituals and also didn’t want to help her father's electoral campaign. Besides that she has wished to leave the town which she founds boring. On the other hand the boy’s name is Taki he is also studying in a high school in Tokyo he has a part time job in an Italian restaurant besides that he has dreams to become an artist. One day Mitsuha and Taki both started to switch their bodies and their soul would get transferred without their consent and awareness. They both face problems and many plot twists are seen in the story. This anime has the journey of fate, love & emotion. It’s one of my favourite anime movie.

Your Name is an amazing animated movie. The writers paid attention to every single details. Which has made it remarkable. I am sharing the English Dubbed trailer it might sound a bit weird. As you see the trailer is awesome and full of energy. Now let’s move into the story I am very excited to explain!

In the beginning of the story Mitsuha she somehow starts to switch bodies with Taki and he lives in Tokyo. While the incident of body switching was happening Mitsuha thought that she was dreaming. It’s like when Mitsuha is in his body, Taki is in her body. On the first day of switching Taki looks in the mirror and tries to explore the body. Moreover, he learnt that that the girl’s body whom he is possessing her name is Mitsuha.

After that I can see Mitsuha going out of her room to have breakfast. Well, one thing to point out that I didn’t get to see Taki’s first day in Mitsuha’s body and in the next day she heard that people were saying Mitsuha had lost her marbles the day before which left her with curiosity because she could not proceed to understand why people were saying that. Mitsuha could not remember anything because she was previously in Taki’s body. Where she loses her way to the school of Taki and also made his friends get confused it’s because Mitsuha was in his body.

Later on she went to the part time job in an Italian restaurant where Taki works and there is a girl named Okudera is seen who also works at the same restaurant. I could realise at first that Taki was seen having a crush on Okudera. After some time there was a incident where a jerk at the restaurant torn the skirt of Okudera. At that time it was Mitsuha present in the body of Taki and she fixed the skirt for Okudera. MeanwhileOkudera didn’t know anything going on with Taki but she mentioned that she has never seen Taki’s feminine side. It looked like she was impressed by Taki. Later on at night Mitsuha as in Taki’s body goes through Taki’s phone and writes a note about the day. I could see that Taki and Mitsuha hiding from their weird experience by thinking of it as a dream.

After soo many days and soo many switches these two came to realise that they are not dreaming which means they are actually switching. So, they had set some rules to each other so that their lives would not get affected. They also decided to write informations about their everyday of life in their mobile for each other to cooperate properly. After a while switching many times they began to understand and recognise themselves also their bond was growing day by day.

One day Taki in Mitsuha’s body went to shrine with the family members. Out of nowhere the grandmother sensed that Mitsuha is not present. Grandmother further asked Mitsuha that if she was dreaming. The next day Taki wakes up in his body and he looked confused why tears was rolling from his eyes. The he checked his phone and he had to go on a date with Okudera. He went to the date and realised that Okudera only likes Taki when Mitsuha is possessing his body. After the incident occurred he came back home and tried to contact with Mitsuha but he could not reach her number.

After many switches Mitsuha fell in love with Taki. Then she wanted to meet him in a person and in search of Taki she went to Tokyo. She saw Taki in a train and he had no clue who Mitsuha is. Mitsuha was sad and before leaving Taki asks for her name and she did tell him her name and gave her red thread in his hand. I was confused why she gave him her thread.

Well, after this incident they didn’t switch again. Taki was very curious and wanted to know why he was not switching. He used his memory and drew the scenery of Mitsuha’s town so that he can find her. In this journey he took one of his friend and Okudera because they wanted to join. In their point of view they thought Taki was going to meet a friend from online. At first they searched a lot but could not find the place and somehow they found someone who knew about the place and said that place is called Itomori and also added that town was destroyed 3 years ago by a hit of the comet falling from the space.

This is the moment where I was very confused like how was that possible because he has already lived there in the body of Mitsuha and that place was already destroyed 3 years ago then how they could switch the bodies. That means the switching bodies was happening between Mitsuha & Taki from the past to present. After knowing when he pulled out his mobile and saw the texts were disappearing. Taki tried to find out the dead peoples name and saw Mitsuha’s name on it. Another thing to point out that Taki kept wearing the thread from the train which he has no memories of who gave him the thread but it’s kept as a sign of good luck.

Suddenly Taki got switched to Mitsuha’s body and it’s the same day of the comet crash. Then meets her grandmother knew from the beginning that someone else is living in Mitsuha’s body. Then grandmother explained how this magic of switching bodies runs in the family.

Then Taki in Mitsuaha’s body tried to warn everyone about the comet crash but no one believed him and he made a plan with Teshi at school to make an evacuation in the town. They plan planned to do many things in order to evacuate the town to save the people. They also decided to give a false announcement that there was an explosion which caused forest fire, to make people of the town evacuate. But at first they had to do is convince Mitsuha’s father because he is the mayor. Taki means possessing Mitsuha’s body he actually failed to convince the dad. Taki asks the others to do as it was planned and the he headed to the shrine to find Mitsuha who must probably would be present in his body.

Mitsuha still didn’t know that when she was switching with Taki which was 3 years ahead in the future. Mitsuha and Taki both arrived at the same place they called each other but the could only hear each but could not see. Because both are living 3 years apart. But no sooner had the sun set they could see each other in the twilight that was very shocking. I also remember one thing that Taki could not recognise Mitsuha in the train because she was a stranger to him in the past and Mitusha got upset for not getting recognised because she didn’t know that she was living Taki’s life in the future time which I know sounds very complicated.

They both could finally express each other’s feelings face to face. He gave the red thread back to Mitsuha. Then Taki suggested to write the names on their hands so, that they won’t forget. Taki had written “I love you” instead of his name and when Mitsuha begins to write they got switched back in their own bodies and Taki is back in his time.

He forgets her name because he didn’t have the thread anymore. Taki kept the red thread for 3 years which might have helped them for switching and keeping each other’s memories for some time. Well, in Japanese tradition it is believed that a red thread depicts a invisible red string of fate which means it’s connected to someone we are bounded to be with.

Mitsuha also returned in her body and knew what was going to happen. Then she convinced her father to evacuate the town and successfully saved everyone. In the present time Taki and Mitsuha could not remember anything but felt special feelings for someone dear. But one day Taki and Mitsuha met each other at the stairs and felt that they were looking for each other. This scene was very emotional like I thought it’s a sad ending and they probably would never meet in life. Which hints that they are gonna end up together even though they don’t have the memories but they can still feel the string attached.

Overall, Your Name has a attractive storyline and visuals. Which I could feel from the bottom of my heart this movie is filled with emotions. It is a must-watch anime movie that can capitative the audience easily, this movie was something unexpected like it blowed my mind away. I have always liked the movies which are scientific and time travelling is something which gets my attention. I can’t avoid to watch something related to time travelling. Surprisingly this movie made me feel that I have someone and they do not exist in real life.
