Oceans need our help
Today I watched a film on Oceans in Jio Hotstar. I think this film/documentary was in theaters, and only now has it reached OTT platforms. I was curious to watch this because I like Sir David Attenborough, and I have watched almost all the nature series where he has been the narrator. His voice is magical, and the way he expresses things is excellent. That was one of the reasons why I wanted to watch this documentary too, and after watching the documentary, it was heartbreaking to know why the Oceans need our help.
Sir David Attenborough is nearing 100 years
The documentary started as usual in his style, and the information covered was excellent. Until the middle of the film, the information was generic and it covered a vast information about Oceans and some information that I'm watching for the very first time. It was amazing to see someone living for almost 100 years on this planet, travelling to every corner of the world, and experiencing the true wonders of our planet. His overall experience was fully evident in the documentary.
The Real problem is not just plastics
Before watching this film, I was under the impression that plastics were the major problem for us, and we are polluting our planet with a lot of plastic. But only after watching this series did I find out that plastics are just part of the problem, and the real problem is overfishing and destroying our coral reefs and the organisms inside the ocean that have been living for thousands of years. Only in the last few decades, with the advancement of technology, have we been exploiting the oceans.
Overfishing is a problem
I have heard that overfishing is a big problem, but only now have I come to know how this is being done and how this is a big threat right now. From the looks of it, overfishing is not just reducing the fish population in the water, but it is also destroying the habitat inside the oceans. Especially those big floating factories that are at work are destroying the coral reefs that have survived for over a thousand years. I never knew they had factories inside the ocean. They collect fish through a conveyor belt and process that to products and get an output then and there on the ship itself that is transported across the world.
The documentary mentioned that fishing is not a problem or humans consuming fish is not a problem, but destroying the ocean beds in the name of fishing is the biggest problem, and it is being done in such a way that in the future, there won't be any fish left for people to consume. Due to this overfishing, many species are pushed to the verge of extinction.
I strongly recommend everyone to watch this Documentary, which is letting us know our responsibility in this, although something about this can be done only by big countries and governments.

In Andaman such fishing technologies are banned and additional there is a freeze period on fish when the boats are prohibited for commercial fishing.
But I still thinks the pollution is the biggest culprit. Not just plastic but the toxic stuff we are dumping in the ocean is killing everything very slowly ..

I've never heard of this movie, I hope it gets advertised around... I heard in Europe fishing is starting to become sustainable for the sea finally, but overall ocans are becoming too acid
One of the solutions to the overfishing problem I think is for people to rear their own fish. That way they leave the oceans undisturbed. The governments need to step in on the issue or nothing will happen. Nice documentary.
Oceans definitely need our help but most of the time we always ignore it
