Con suerte, ayer al disponer del tiempo libre me senté a buscar un film que llamara mi atención y así, al azar, rogar que fuese buena je,je,je.

Me dispuse para ver El Club del Crimen de los Jueves en inglés se titula The Thursday Murder Club. La seleccioné porque este film reúne a un elenco que me encanta y el cual ha venido ofreciendo excelentes opciones en la pantalla gigante.

En este film veremos a un grupo de jubilados reunidos en un centro para adultos mayores y alguno de ellos aficionados a resolver crímenes. Esta primera presentación me dio mucha risa. Imaginé una película alocada, con abuelos haciendo desastres y metiendo a más de uno en problemas ja,ja,ja. Pues, algo de eso hay.

Luckily, yesterday, when I had some free time, I sat down to look for a film that caught my attention and, at random, hoped it would be good, hehehe.

I decided to watch The Thursday Murder Club. I chose it because this film brings together a cast that I love and which has been offering excellent options on the big screen.

In this film, we see a group of retirees gathered at a senior center, some of whom are crime-solving enthusiasts. This first introduction made me laugh a lot. I imagined a crazy movie, with grandparents causing chaos and getting more than one person into trouble, ha ha ha. Well, there is some of that.

En el elenco especial tenemos a Hellen Mirren como Elizabeth Best, una líder decidida a todo y con muchas habilidades. Me encanta esta actriz. En este film la veremos como una mujer astuta, seria, decidida, guerrera y hasta cometiendo locuras.

Pierce Brosnan el famoso agente 007 otra vez en una magistral actuación representando al personaje Ron Ritchie. Un hombre algo amargado, con mal genio, rebelde pero con gran sentido d3l humor. Se divertirán con este personaje.

Seguimos con dos actores más que forman el cuarteto del film. Ben Kingsley (Ibrahim) y Celia Imrie (Joyce). Para mi no son conocidos ambos actores pero hacen un gran equipo. El primero un psiquiatra y la segunda, enfermera.

El Club del Crimen de los Jueves califica como género comedia de misterio pero el misterio es más bien una especia de intriga mezclada con con comedia y finalmente el drama. Sí, aunque es una película divertida tiene también un mensaje hermoso que se muestra al final del film.

The special cast includes Hellen Mirren as Elizabeth Best, a determined leader with many skills. I love this actress. In this film, we see her as a cunning, serious, determined, warrior-like woman who even commits crazy acts.

Pierce Brosnan, the famous Agent 007, gives another masterful performance playing the character Ron Ritchie. He is a somewhat bitter man with a bad temper, rebellious but with a great sense of humor. You will have fun with this character.

We continue with two more actors who make up the film's quartet: Ben Kingsley (Ibrahim) and Celia Imrie (Joyce). Neither actor is well known to me, but they make a great team. The first is a psychiatrist and the second is a nurse.

The Thursday Murder Club is classified as a mystery comedy, but the mystery is more of a kind of intrigue mixed with comedy and, ultimately, drama. Yes, although it is a funny film, it also has a beautiful message that is revealed at the end.

Me encantó toda la trama, como dije al inicio el asunto de la investigación de crímenes "muy viejos", prácticamente olvidados hace que el club se mantenga activo y con deseos de conocer los detalles cada hecho ocurrido.

La historia se dearrolla en Coopers Chase, una lujosa residencia para jubilados donde nadie a esa edad rechazaría la oferta para estar allí je,je,je. Allí, cuatro residentes Elizabeth (exespía), Ron (exsindicalista), Ibrahim (psiquiatra retirado) y Joyce (enfermera viuda) se reúnen los días jueves para revisar casos de asesinato sin resolver. Esta parte de la historia la muestran al inicio y dado el contexto creí que se trataba solo de un juego de abuelos, el juego de detectives. Pero, lo que comienza para mi como un juego se convierte en una investigación real cuando asesinan a uno de los socios de la casa hogar, Tony Curran.

El equipo de abuelos traviesos entran en acción y en medio de la investigación, descubren secretos engavetados, alianzas inesperadas y más adelante un segundo asesinato que complica aún más la situación. I loved the whole plot. As I said at the beginning, the investigation of “very old” crimes, practically forgotten, keeps the club active and eager to learn the details of each event.

The story takes place at Coopers Chase, a luxurious retirement home where no one at that age would turn down the offer to stay there, hehehe. There, four residents—Elizabeth (a former spy), Ron (a former union leader), Ibrahim (a retired psychiatrist), and Joyce (a widowed nurse)—meet on Thursdays to review unsolved murder cases. This part of the story is shown at the beginning, and given the context, I thought it was just a game for seniors, a game of detectives. But what starts out as a game for me turns into a real investigation when one of the nursing home residents, Tony Curran, is murdered.

The team of mischievous grandparents springs into action and, in the midst of the investigation, discovers long-buried secrets, unexpected alliances, and later a second murder that further complicates the situation. Obviously, when it comes to a crime, real police must enter the investigation. Even so, the retirees continue to intervene to prove that they can do it.

No pueden perderse los impresionantes giro en esta película. Todos ellos generan cada vez más intriga y misterio. Yo, tuve la sensación de encontrar al final un tema oculto con el que moriría de la risa pero no fue así. Realmente hay un final oculto... lo dejaré para que cada uno lo descubra.

La película transmite varios mensajes profundos envueltos en humor. Confieso que lloré. El final de la historia nos dice que los motivos detrás de los crímenes están ligados a traumas, lealtades y decisiones difíciles, lo que invita a reflexionar sobre la moral y la empatía.

You can't miss the impressive twists and turns in this film. They all generate more and more intrigue and mystery. I had the feeling that I would find a hidden theme at the end that would make me laugh out loud, but that wasn't the case. There really is a hidden ending... I'll leave it for everyone to discover for themselves.

The film conveys several profound messages wrapped in humor. I confess that I cried. The ending of the story tells us that the motives behind the crimes are linked to trauma, loyalties, and difficult decisions, which invites us to reflect on morality and empathy.
