Christmas Contest: Celebrate from Super Junior (ENG/SPA)
Hello, people of the Internet, Today I want to participate again in the contest with a different bet and since we can also talk about music videos, I decided to show you my favourite one, and I am a big fan of a second generation Kpop group called Super Junior, who made a mini Christmas album some time ago, whose main single is "Celebrate", and we will talk about the music video.
Hola, gente de Internet, Hoy quiero participar de nuevo en el concurso con una apuesta diferente y es que ya que también podemos hablar de videos musicales, decidí mostrarles mi preferido, y es que soy muy fan de una agrupación de Kpop de Segunda generación llamada Super Junior, los cuales hicieron hace un tiempo un mini álbum de navidad, cuyo single principal es "Celebrate", y precisamente hablaremos de su video musical.
Let's start with the story of the video and then we will talk about its cinematic characteristics. The story is composed of several types of love: innocent love (represented by children), romantic love (represented by the young and the old) and family love (represented by all the characters) and as the video progresses we realise that in the end all the characters belong to the same family (grandparents, parents and children).
Empecemos por la historia del video y después hablaremos de sus características cinematográficas. La historia está compuesta por varios tipos de amor: el amor inocente (representado por niños), el amor romántico (representado por los jóvenes y los ancianos) y el amor familiar (representado por todos los personajes) y es que a medida que avanza el video nos damos cuenta de que al final todos los personajes pertenecen a una misma familia (abuelos, padres e hijos)
Within the story we see the characters separately and as I said at the end they are all reunited in a house for a family photo by the tree and this can represent family togetherness (one of the meanings of Christmas) as it is a holiday that is celebrated mostly with the family.
Dentro de la historia vemos a los personajes por separado, y como dije al final se reencuentran todos en una casa para una foto familiar junto al árbol, y es que esto puede representar la unión familiar (uno de los significados de la navidad) ya que es una festividad que se celebra mayormente con la familia.
The family can also be seen enjoying a Christmas dinner (another of the world's Christmas traditions).
Además también se aprecia a la familia disfrutando una cena navideña (otra de las tradiciones navideñas a nivel mundial)
On the other hand we also have the friendship (represented by the members of Super Junior) who together decorate a Christmas tree in a clear representation of the union and one of the traditions of Christmas (decorating a room).
Por otro lado también tenemos la amistad (representados por los integrantes de Super Junior) quienes juntos adornan un árbol de navidad en una clara representación de la unión y una de las tradiciones de la navidad (decorar una estancia)
If we talk about the setting and staging of the video... it's beautiful, we have different locations (actually the band's recording studio divided into several sets) but no matter which set it is, they all have the spirit of Christmas, they all feel perfectly like a holiday, one of celebration. My favourite set is the village and the big white tree that the guys decorate.
Si hablamos de la ambientación y la puesta en escena del video... es preciosa, tenemos locaciones diferentes (realmente el estudio de grabación de la banda dividido en varios sets) pero sin importar cual de los sets sea, en todos se respira el espíritu de la navidad, se sienten perfectamente como en un día festivo, uno de celebración. Mi set preferido es la villa y el gran árbol blanco que decoran los chicos.
The cinematography is incredibly good. The direction was in charge (as always) of Shindog (one of the members) and something curious about super junior is that as they have their own record label and their own studio, they produce their own music and direct their own music videos (the company only provides the capital, the material and the employees) but otherwise they do the work themselves. The colour palette is beautiful, there is a lot of red and green (the colours of Christmas) not only in the environment but also in the outfit of the guys. The lighting is very good, the rooms are illuminated with golden lights which helps with the warm atmosphere (as they are representing a very nice and warm holiday) there is snow (as it usually snows in Korea) but it still doesn't lose the atmosphere that the guys intended to represent.
La fotografía es increíblemente buena. La dirección estuvo a cargo (como siempre) de Shindog (uno de los miembros) y es que algo curioso de super junior es que como tienen su propio sello discográfico y su propio estudio, producen ellos mismos su música y dirigen sus videos musicales (la empresa solo les aporta el capital, el material y los empleados) pero por lo demás el trabajo lo hacen ellos mismos. La paleta de colores es hermosa, hay mucha presencia de rojo y verde (los colores de la navidad) no solo en el entorno sino también en el outfit de los muchachos. La iluminación es muy buena, las estancias están iluminadas con luces doradas que ayuda con la ambientación cálida (ya que están representando una festividad muy agradable y precisamente cálida) hay presencia de nieve (ya que en Corea suele nevar) pero aún así no pierde la ambientación que los muchachos pretendieron representar.
The video has very interesting shots and very well achieved transitions, for example I love the transitions where the boy changes shots with some of the members of the group:
El video tiene planos muy interesantes y trancisiones muy bien logradas, por ejemplo me encanta las transciciones donde el niño cambia de plano con algunos de los miembros del grupo:
The shots as I said are very nice and interesting. The most noticeable is that there are a lot of cuts that nevertheless feel fluid because the camera is in constant movement (a delicate glide at different angles) there are some slightly counter choppy shots and some choppy ones. There is also some very well worked blurring technique, plus the fact that the singers do their singing part on the same stage where the story of the video takes place, interacting from time to time with the characters, makes the dynamism of the video is very well carried and the atmosphere is not broken.
Los planos como dije son muy lindos e interesantes. Lo más notorio es que hay muchísimos cortes que sin embargo se sienten fluidos porque la cámara está en constante movimiento (un deslizamiento delicado en distintos ángulos) hay algunos planos ligeramente contra picados y otros picados. También hay un poco de técnica de desenfoque muy bien trabajado, además el hecho de que los cantantes hagan su parte cantada en el mismo escenario en el que transcurre la historia del video, interactuando de vez en cuando con los personajes, hace que el dinamismo del video esté muy bien llevado y que la ambientación no se rompa.
I found the shot of the contemporary dancers quite beautiful, not only because of how artistic the two silhouettes dancing against the light look, but also because the shot itself and the close-up between the two silhouettes also adds a bit of intimacy to the scene.
El plano de los bailarines de música contemporánea me pareció bastante bonito, no solo por lo artístico que se ve ambas siluetas a contra luz danzando, sino porque el plano como tal y el acercamiento entre las dos siluetas también le aporta un poco de intimidad a la escena.
The lyrics of the song talk about two people (it does not specify that it is a romantic attachment) who want to celebrate the end of the 4 seasons, that the end of another year is approaching, who reminisce about all their memories of the 12 months and who plan to stay together. It is a message that can apply to a family member, a romantic interest or a friend, which makes anyone feel identified with the song.
La letra de la canción habla del acercamiento entre dos personas (no especifica que sea una cercamiento romántico) que quieren celebrar el final de las 4 estaciones, que el fin de otro año se acerca, los cuales rememoran todos sus recuerdos de los 12 meses y que planean seguir juntos. Es un mensaje que puede aplicarse a algún familiar, un interés romántico o un amigo, lo que hace que cualquiera se sienta identificado con la canción.
