Dumbo, review (ENG/SPA)
Hello, Internet people, everything alright? Today I want to talk to you about one of my favourite Disney films, at least talking about classics. Dumbo is a film from 1941, which has aged very well, so much so that today its main message "don't be ashamed of what you look like and who you are" is still valid and has the same importance as the film itself.
Hola, gente de Internet ¿todo bien? Hoy quiero hablarles de una de mis películas preferidas de Disney, al menos hablando de clásicos. Dumbo es una película del año 1941, la cual ha envejecido muy bien, tanto que a día de hoy su mensaje principal "no te avergüences de como luces y de quien eres" sigue vigente y tiene la misma importancia.
Jumbo, the elephant, is desperate to receive her new baby, fortunately and when she thought that she would not receive him, they finally bring her baby, however the little one has a "huge defect" his big ears, However, his mother and his best friend (a mouse) love him as he is and the latter teaches him that he should be proud of who he is, as his "biggest defect" will become his greatest virtue. This is how he teaches Dumbo (the baby elephant) to fly with his ears.
Jumbo, la elefante, está desesperada por recibir a su nuevo bebé, afortunadamente y cuando pensaba que ya no lo recibiría, al fin le traen a su bebé, sin embargo el pequeño tiene un "defecto enorme" sus grandes orejas, las cuales le provocan el rechazo de todos el circo (humanos y animales) sin embargo su madre y su mejor amigo (un ratón) le quieren como es y este último le enseña que debe estar orgulloso de quien es, ya que su "mayor defecto" se convertirá en su mayor virtud, es así como le enseña a Dumbo (el bebé elefante) a volar con sus orejas.
I think that while elements such as the cinematography and staging are fantastic, the story and soundtrack take all the credit. One of the most thought-provoking pieces is the workers' song, where the lyrics speak of the misery that befalls the working class for not having access to education, working day and night regardless of the inclement weather, being forced to serve a boss as and when he says so, and so on. Something that above all is reinforced by the time in which the film was written and produced, where the workers (who we see) are black-skinned and a phrase that makes us think today is "day and night is the same, work without rest because we did not want to study" the truth is that at that time they did not have many opportunities to study and therefore ended up being workers.
Creo que aunque elementos como la fotografía y la puesta en escena son fantásticos, la historia y el soundtrack se llevan todo el crédito. Una de las piezas más reflexivas es la canción de los trabajadores, en donde la letra habla de los desmanes que le ocurren a la clase obrera por no tener acceso al estudio, trabajar día y noche sin importar la inclemencia del clima, verse obligados a servir a un patrón como y cuando diga, etc. Algo que sobre todo se ve reforzado por la época en la que fue escrita y producida la película, donde los obreros (a los que vemos) son de piel negra y una frase que nos pone a pensar hoy día es "de día y de noche es igual, trabajar sin descansar porque no quisimos estudiar" la verdad es que en esa época no tenían muchas oportunidades de estudio y por tanto terminaban siendo obreros.
But if we talk about my favourite piece without a doubt "Pink Elephants on Parade", musically it is very good, it has a compendium of different genres and rhythms that are perfectly mixed and in terms of cinematography it is a visual delight. They made a display of artistic skills in addition to the message is very clear "Do not abuse the liquor" more clear impossible, a very artistic way to carry a key message (I hate that this in the live action was a disgusting).
Pero si hablamos de mi pieza preferida sin lugar a dudas "Las animas del Terror" musicalmente es buenísima, tiene un compendio de géneros y ritmos diferentes que están perfectamente mezclados y en cuanto a fotografía es un deleite visual. Hicieron un despliegue de habilidades artísticas además de que el mensaje es muy claro "No abuses del licor" más claro imposible, una manera muy artística de llevar un mensaje clave (odié que esto en el live action fuese un asco)
I can't leave out Dumbo's mother's song, it reflects the love of a mother and is so heartfelt and beautiful that even today it continues to make generations cry. The compendium of scenes of the mothers with their children while Dumbo and his mother are separated by injustice is what reinforces the feeling of empathy and sadness that the viewer feels, the fact that she was stigmatised as "Mad Elegant" and separated from her baby just for defending him from those who were hurting him.
No puedo dejar de lado la canción de la madre de Dumbo, está reflejado el amor de madre y es tan sentida y linda que aun a día de hoy sigue haciendo llorar a generaciones. El compendio de escenas de las madres con sus hijos mientras Dumbo y la suya están separados por la injusticia, es lo que refuerza ese sentimiento de empatía y tristeza que siente el espectador, el hecho de que la estigmatizaran como "Elegante loca" y la separaran de su bebé solo por defenderlo de quienes le hacían daño.
I think it is undoubtedly one of Disney's most beautiful films. Its ending is happy and satisfying and also shows us that what we think may be defects can be transformed into virtues and also teaches us that it is not right to judge people for who they are, where they come from or what they look like as we can do them irreparable harm. Several messages that do not get old, that are still latent and that are a great example for children after 82 years of age.
Creo que sin dudas es una de las películas más lindas de Disney. Su final es feliz y satisfactorio y además nos demuestra que lo que creemos que pueden ser defectos puede transformarse en virtudes, y asimismo nos enseña que no está bien juzgar a las personas por quienes son, de donde vienen o como lucen, ya que podemos hacerles un daño irreparable. Varios mensajes que no envejecen, que siguen latentes y que son un gran ejemplo para los niños después de 82 años.
