Howl's Moving Castle (ESP/ENG) Anime Review
Hello Hello #theanimerealm people today I come with a review about one of my favorite Ghibli movies, in fact Howl is one of my anime crush 😄, but before I start giving you my point of view of this Hayao Miyazaki's work I would like to give you a bit of context (no spoilers) in case you haven't seen it yet.
Hola Hola gente de #theanimerealm hoy vengo con una reseña sobre una de mis películas preferidas de Ghibli, de hecho Howl es uno de mis anime crush 😄, pero antes de empezar a darles mi punto de vista de esta obra de Hayao Miyazaki me gustaría darles un poco de contexto (sin spoilers) en caso de que aún no la hayan visto.
Sophie is an insecure young woman who works as a hat maker, she is full of insecurities and that is why she prefers to stay in the hat store all the time, on one occasion when she had to leave to go see her sister, she had an unpleasant encounter with some soldiers who seemed to have bad intentions, but suddenly she was rescued by an enigmatic young man named Howl, of whom there were rumors about him kidnapping young girls to devour their hearts. Later Sophie was visited by a witch who transformed her into an old woman, so she went in search of a sorcerer who could help her to reverse the curse, and in this way she meets Howl again and from there both must fight to get rid of their own fears and insecurities to face life and its challenges with gallantry.
Sophie es una joven insegura que trabaja como creadora de sombreros, ella está llena de inseguridades y por eso prefiere permanecer en la tienda sombreros todo el tiempo, en una ocasión en que tuvo que salir para ir a ver a su hermana, tuvo un encuentro desagradable con unos soldados que parecían tener malas intenciones, pero de pronto fue rescatada por un joven enigmático llamado Howl, del cual había rumores acerca de que raptaba jovencitas para devorarles el corazón. Más tarde Sophie fue visitada por una bruja que la transforma en anciana, de modo que ella fue en la búsqueda de un hechicero que pudiera ayudarla a revertir la maldición, y de esta manera se encuentra nuevamente con Howl y a partir de allí ambos deberán luchar por deshacerse de sus propios miedos e inseguridades para afrontar la vida y sus retos con gallardía.
Honestly I perceive this is a story about maturity and the way we face life and its challenges, both Sophie and Howl have great insecurities, especially about their appearance and the way the world perceives them, however Sophie changes her appearance according to her mood, sometimes she looks younger and energetic and when she sleeps, she actually resumes her original appearance, which means that her appearance depends a lot on her self-perception.
Honestamente yo percibo que esta es una historia sobre madurez y forma en la que afrontamos la vida y sus retos, tanto Sophie como Howl tienen grandes inseguridades, sobre todo acerca de su apariencia y la forma en la que el mundo los percibe, sin embargo Sophie cambia de aspecto según su estado de ánimo, algunas veces se ve más joven y enérgica y cuando duerme, de hecho retoma su apariencia original, lo que quiere decir que su aspecto depende mucho de su autopercepción.
I perceive this film as the most westernized of Ghibli, in fact there is no reference to Japanese culture in it, but that is logical, since it is based on the novel of the same name by British author Diana Wynne Jones. The evolution of the characters is immense, analyzing the main characters we realize that at the beginning of the film Sophie was an empty girl, resigned to the destiny that others traced for her, she did not dare to explore other possibilities for fear of failure or judgments, perhaps also to the perception that others might have about her, however the curse that was imposed on her ironically was the engine that forced her to leave her comfort zone, Howl on the other hand is an egomaniacal young man, apparently very sure of himself, but all this only hid a tremendous insecurity about the acceptance of others and finally a terrible fear of facing his destiny fighting in the war, but in both characters love was the only one able to make them both discover their own strength and skills.
Yo percibo esta película como la más occidentalizada de Ghibli, de hecho no hay ninguna referencia de la cultura nipona en ella, peor eso es lógico, ya que está basada en la novela homónima de la autora británica Diana Wynne Jones. La evolución de los personajes es inmensa, analizando a los personajes principales nos damos cuenta que al inicio del film Sophie era una chica vacía, resignada al destino que otros trazaron para ella, no se atrevía a explorar otras posibilidades por miedo al fracaso o los juicios, quizá también a la percepción que otros pudieran tener sobre ella, sin embargo la maldición que le impusieron irónicamente fue el motor que la obligó a salir de su zona de confort, a explorar otros mundos y por ende a descubrir su propia fortaleza, Howl por su parte es un joven ególatra, aparentemente muy seguro de si mismo, pero todo esto solo escondía una tremenda inseguridad acerca de la aceptación de los demás y por último un miedo terrible a enfrentarse a su destino peleando en la guerra, pero en ambos personajes fue el amor el único capaz de hacer que ambos descubrieran su propia fortaleza y sus habilidades.
The animation, as always was wonderful and the aesthetics is beautiful, full of details and elements that really make you feel inside a magical universe, or rather steampunk, which I also perceived in the movie “Laputa: Castle in the Sky” this style that I just mentioned is characterized by handling futuristic elements that mimic in a certain way with classic elements of the Victorian era and the industrial revolution, which gives it a sober, vintage and enigmatic character, and in a way this style reminds me a lot of the perception that people of the late nineteenth century had about how the 2000s would be. It is something that is perceived especially in the design of the castle, which is a character in the film.
La animación, como siempre estuvo maravillosa y la estética es bellísima, llena de detalles y elementos que de verdad te hacen sentir dentro de un universo mágico, o más bien steampunk, lo cual también percibí en la película "El Catillo en el cielo" este estilo que acabo de mencionar se caracteriza por manejar elementos futuristas que se mimetizan de cierta forma con elementos clásicos de la era victoriana y la revolución industrial, lo cual le confiere un carácter sobrio, vintage y enigmático, y de cierta forma este estilo me recuerda mucho a la percepción que tenían las personas de finales del siglo XIX acerca de como serían los años 2000. Es algo que se percibe sobre todo en el diseño del castillo, el cuál es un personaje más dentro de la película.

Beautiful movie I remember seeing on TV when it premiered years ago, later I could see it and I found it beautiful and today I have seen the movie several times and I could see it endless times without getting bored.
My Neighbour Totoro, Spirited Away and this film are my favourite Ghibli Studios films

One of my favorite Studio Ghibli movies, at least I would say it's the most iconic. The story, the soundtrack, the animation, everything is very top.

Está película la recuerdo por haberla visto con un doblaje extraño, quizás hecho por fans, luego dicho doblaje más nunca lo llegué a conseguir. Sinceramente no soy muy fan de Ghibli porque muchas veces siento que no te explica de forma clara la historia pero sin dudas todo lo demás es un espectáculo visual, esta sinceramente es de las que me gustaron más pero la que no soporté es la de Totoro.
La de Mi vecino Totoro, esta y El viaje de Chihiro son mis preferidas, incluso en breve me tatuare a Totoro jeje
La historia de Sophie y Howl te atrapa desde el primer momento, con una animación preciosa y unos personajes que te conquistan. Es increíble cómo una película puede transmitir tanta calidez y fantasía. Yo he tenido la oportunidad de verla un par de veces.

One of my favorite Studios Ghibli movies. The story and the way it develops its characters are as typical of this animation house as they are of its creator. The way it blends the West with the East with a unique animation style and a mix of magic with feelings as complex as love is what makes this work so special.

I love most of the films of this studio and they really inspire me a lot
