Let's Talk About The Great Flood (ENG/SPA)

Hello, Internet folks! How's it going? Today I want to talk to you about The Great Flood, a South Korean science fiction film that pleasantly surprised me. My sister put it on, and we thought it was a disaster film, but we ended up realising it was science fiction. I must admit that no one liked it except me at the end of the film.

Hoy quiero hablarles de El Gran Diluvio, una película surcoreana de ciencia ficción que me sorprendió gratamente y es que, mi hermana la puso y pensamos que era una película de catástrofe, sin embargo nos terminamos dando cuenta que era de ciencia ficción. Debo admitir que a nadie le gustó excepto a mi al final de la película

An-ah is a widowed mother who is quite irresponsible with her 5-year-old son (who is quite adorable). She treats him harshly until she realises that the flat is filling with water. When she looks outside, she sees that her balcony is filling with water, even though she is on the third floor. She receives a call from a security agent from her company who tells her that there will be an evacuation for her and her son on the roof and that she should get there and he will come for them. From there, An-ah must do the impossible to reach the roof of the 30th floor.

An-ah es una madre viuda que es bastante irresponsable con su hijito de 5 años (el cual es bastante adoresble) lo trata con brusquedad hasta que se da cuenta que el piso está llenandose de agua, al asomarse afuera se da cuenta que su balcón esta llenandose de agua siendo que está en un 3er piso. Recibe una llamada de un agente de seguridad de su empresa que le dice que habrá una extracción para ella y su hijo en la azotea y que alcance a llegar que el irá por ellos. A partir de ahí An-ah debe hacer lo imposible para llegar a la azotea del piso 30

To be honest, I had to look away more than once because I am batofobic and thalassophobic, and this film has both, so I was listening to it more than watching it, but I still enjoyed the story. I don't want to go into details about the story so as not to give away any spoilers, but I must say that it involves time loops, so you have to watch it very closely, paying attention to every detail, because each loop reveals more of the story. It can be confusing, but it's worth it once you understand it. It's kind of like Interstellar (that should give you a little more perspective).

La verdad debo decir que tenía que apartar la vista más de una vez ya que soy batofobica y talasofobica y esta película tiene ambas cosas, asi que era más lo que la escuchaba que lo que la veía pero aun así pude disfrutar la historia. No quiero entrar en detalles de la historia para no hacer spoilers pero si debo decir que se trata de bucles temporales por lo tanto debes verla prestando demasiada atención a cada detalle porque cada bucle va revelando más de la historia. Puede llegar a ser confuso pero vale a pena una vez que lo entiendes. Es del rollo tipo Interestelar (con eso les doy un poco más de perspectiva)

The photography is amazing. The truth is that all the spaces look absolutely realistic. Lighting plays an important role, especially in the underwater scenes, which is why it never gets dark in the film. In order to show each event, they had to use light so that the viewer could see every action and also to use lighting as an artistic effect in the water. The apprehension, despair and atmosphere put you in the situation and give you a pretty good immersion.

La fotogrfía es asombrosa, la verdad es que todos los espacios se ven absolutamente realistas, la iluminación juega un papel importante sobre todo en las escenas bajo el agua es por eso que nunca anochece en la película, ya que para mostar cada evento debían valerse de la luz para que el espectador pudiese ver cada acción y además para usar la iluminación como efecto artísctico en el agua. La aprensión, el desespero y la atmósfera te pone en situación y te da una imersión bastante buena.

The performances are really good. I cried buckets during every dramatic scene. The actress and the young actor (who is very good for his age) have amazing chemistry. It seems like they have a real bond, which impressed me a lot, and I really enjoyed their scenes. Overall, all the performances in the film were good, but that's not surprising since, after all, it's South Korea. The same thing happens in countries like Turkey and Brazil. I really enjoyed the performances.

Las actuaciones son realmente buenas, lloré a mares en cada escena dramatica, la actriz y el pequeño actor (muuuy bueno a su corta edad) tienen una quimica impresionante con la actriz pareciera que tienen un vinculo real me impresonó mucho y la verdad disfruté sus escenas. En general todas las actuaciones de la película fueron buenas pero no me extraña ya que después de todo, es Corea del Sur, pasa lo mismo en países como Turquía y Brasil. La verdad disfruté mucho las actuaciones

In short, if you like this genre of film, I recommend it one hundred per cent because, although it may be a little confusing at first, once you understand it, it leaves the viewer with an excellent message about human emotions, bonds, memories and the essence of what it really means to be human.

En resumen, si te gusta este género de películas te la recomiendo al cien por ciento porque aunque puede ser un poco confuso al principio, una vez que la etiendes deja un excelente mensaje en el espectador sobre las emociones humans, los vinculos, las memorias y la escencia de lo que significa relmente ser un ser humano
