My K-Drama recommendations (ENG/SPA)
Hello, Internet people. Today I want to share with you my favourite Korean series, each one of them has its own charm according to its genre, so I will briefly explain what they are about and why I specifically like them.
Hola, gente de Internet. Hoy quiero compartirles mis series coreanas preferidas, cada una de ellas tiene un encanto propio según su género, así que explicaré brevemente de que tratan y el por qué especificadamente me gustan.

Yang Jung Guk is a fraudster, his latest "trap", a clever scam in which he exchanged Bolivares (Venezuelan currency) without mentioning its devaluation, meets Mi Young in a disco and they fall in love after a while, they get married and she reveals to him that she is a detective, the reason for hiding it is that her profession (as she believes) made her fail in her previous relationship. Although shocked and terrified, Jung Guk doesn't complain to her as he too is hiding a shady secret. He is the most wanted fraudster in the country! (of course the police don't know his face).
Yang Jung Guk es todo un estafador, su ultimo "golpe", una estafa ingeniosa en la que cambió Bolívares (moneda venezolana) sin mencionar la devaluación de esta, conoce en una disco a Mi Young y ambos se enamoran después de un tiempo, se casan y ella le revela que es una detective, la razón para esconderlo es que su profesión (según ella cree) la hizo fracasar en su relación. Aunque sorprendido y aterrado, Jung Guk no le reclama, ya que él también esconde un secreto bastante turbio ¡Es el estafador más buscado en el país! (claro que la policía no conoce su rostro)
On the other hand, Park Hu Ja captures Jung Guk out of revenge because he swindled her father, but far from killing him or anything like that, the girl forces him into politics as a congressman to ease the way for the country's moneylenders, so Jung Guk must lie to his wife and the whole of South Korea to escape worse punishment at the hands of the infamous Hu Ja.
Por otro lado, Park Hu Ja captura a Jung Guk por venganza, ya que este estafó al padre de ella, sin embargo, lejos de matarlo o algo por el estilo, la muchacha lo obliga a entrar en la política como congresista para que facilite el camino a los prestamistas del país, es así como Jung Guk debe mentir a su esposa y a toda Corea del Sur para librarse de un castigo peor a manos de la infame Hu Ja.
It is a romantic comedy (a genre in which South Korea is a specialist) and from minute one the laughs are guaranteed. There are many funny situations, starting with the fact that both protagonists are hiding their past, or rather their occupations, from each other. There are also very good actors, starting with Siwon Choi (a member of Super Junior) whose speciality is acting and is quite versatile, although he tends to shine more in dramatic roles, he is perfectly capable of doing comedy and he is very good at it, he is very funny.
Es una comedia romántica (genero en el que Corea del Sur es especialista) desde el minuto 1 las risas están aseguradas. Hay muchas situaciones graciosas partiendo de hecho por el que ambos protagonistas están escondiéndole al otro su pasado, o mejor dicho, sus ocupaciones. Además hay muy buenos actores, empezando por Siwon Choi (miembro de Super Junior) cuya especialidad es la actuación, y es bastante polifacético, aunque suele lucirse más en papeles dramáticos, es perfectamente capaz de hacer comedia y le sale muy bien, es muy gracioso.

Kim Hye Jin is a beautiful girl from a wealthy family, while Ji Sung Joon is a short, overweight boy who, due to his appearance, bullying and personal trauma, is very shy. The two meet and develop a friendship where Ji Sung falls in love with her, however, he had to move to USA and Hye Jin's family lost their publishing house when they went bankrupt. Their paths diverge until they become adults.
Kim Hye Jin es una niña muy guapa y proveniente de una familia adinerada mientras que Ji Sung Joon es un niño bajito y con sobrepeso que debido a su apariencia, al bullying y a un trauma personal es muy retraído. Ambos se conocen y desarrollan una amistad donde Ji Sung se enamora de ella, sin embargo, él debió mudarse a Estados Unidos y la familia de Hye Jin perdió su editorial al caer en quiebra. Sus caminos se separaron hasta hacerse adultos.
However, they meet online and since he is going back to Korea, they decide to meet again, however, when they arrive at the place, Ji Sung doesn't recognize her because over time, Hye Jin got neglected and also inherited her father's psoriasis (making her look ugly) Ji Sung approaches a beautiful woman, believing her to be Hye Jin, upon seeing this, Hye Jin decides to run away from the place telling her over the phone that she couldn't make it and in desperation, she asks her best friend Ha Ri to pretend to be her (as Ha Ri is beautiful).

On the other hand, Hye Jin gets a job at a magazine where she meets the reporter Kim, who is very funny and sensitive, but she also realises that his boss is none other than Ji Sung. He belittles her for her "lack of knowledge" and it's really about Hye Jin forgetting everything every time she is with him because she gets nervous, however, reporter Kim is always there for her, helping her, making her laugh and giving her advice, to complicate things further, Ha Ri falls in love with Ji Sung and starts lying to her friend and taking advantage of the situation. Hye Jin has to figure out how to deal with the mixed feelings she has and decide who to stay with, her childhood sweetheart who seems miles away from her or the reporter Kim who has been there for her from the beginning.
Por otro lado Hye Jin consigue trabajo en una revista donde conoce al reportero Kim, el cual es muy gracioso y sensible, pero también la muchacha se da cuenta de que su jefe es nada más y nada menos que Ji Sung. Este la menosprecia y desvaloriza por su "falta de conocimientos" y realmente se trata de que a Hye Jin se le olvida todo cada vez que está con él porque se pone nerviosa, sin embargo, el reportero Kim siempre está ahí para ella, ayudándola, haciéndola reír y aconsejándola, para complicar más las cosas, Ha Ri se enamora de Ji Sung y empieza a mentirle a su amiga y a aprovecharse de la situación. Hye Jin tiene que saber como lidiar con los sentimientos encontrados que tiene y decidir con quién quedarse, si con su amor de infancia que parece estar a kilómetros de ella, o con el reportero Kim el cuál ha estado para ella desde un principio.
Although I hated the ending, the whole drama is very good, has very good characters, deep and very well developed. It follows a plot similar to Ugly Betty (the hyper famous Colombian soap opera) and which is a total novelty in Korea (an ugly protagonist). I really like Siwon's acting in this serie because he can excel in his speciality (drama) and also in comedy, he portrays the perfect man very well which makes the viewers feel attracted to his character without even considering the possibility of the main character and the actor who plays Ji Sung, while he is not a bad actor or anything like that, I do feel that he lacked nuance in his character so that at least the viewers were left wondering who to choose, him or the reporter Kim (something I will also talk about when I describe Jun Pyo from BOF).
Pese a que el final lo odié, todo el drama es muy bueno, tiene muy buenos personajes, profundos y muy bien desarrollados. Sigue una trama parecida a Betty La Fea (la hiper famosa telenovela colombiana) y que en Corea es una total novedad (una protagonista fea). La actuación de Siwon me gusta mucho en esta serie ya que puede lucirse en su especialidad (el drama) y también en la comedia, retrata muy bien al hombre perfecto, lo que hace que las espectadoras se sientan atraídas por su personaje sin siquiera plantearse la posibilidad del protagonista, y es que el actor que interpreta a Ji Sung, si bien no es mal actor ni nada por el estilo, si siento que le faltó ponerle matices a su personaje para que al menos a las espectadoras les insertara la duda de a quien elegir, si a él o al reportero Kim (es algo que también hablaré cuando describa a Jun Pyo de BOF)
All the scenes are very well cared for, the feelings and emotions are felt very well between the actors which makes the drama very enjoyable. On the other hand, this series has a very nice and enjoyable Sountrack that is also very well cared for and accompanies the scenes very well, between ballads and alternative to vary the compositions and accompany the emotions of the characters. My favourite is undoubtedly "You Are The Only One" performed by Choi Siwon and which has to do with his character and his feelings for Hye Jin.
Todas las escenas están muy bien cuidadas, los sentimientos y emociones se sienten muy bien entre los actores, lo que hace al drama muy disfrutable. Por otro lado, esta serie tiene un Sountrack muy muy lindo y disfrutable que además está muy bien cuidado y acompaña muy bien las escenas, entre baladas y alternativo para variar las composiciones, y acompañar bien a las emociones de los personajes. Mi preferida sin dudas es "You Are The Only One" Interpretada por Choi Siwon, y la cual tiene que ver con su personaje y sus sentimientos por Hye Jin

Eun Ha Won is a girl whose father works most of the time outside the home (he is a truck driver) and she stays at home under the abuse of her stepmother and stepsister, since the stepmother does not pay for any of Ha Won's needs, she was forced to take several part-time jobs to pay for them, Her biggest problem comes when she finds out that her father stopped paying for her mother's space in the cemetery months ago and that's why she was removed from her space, the debt is more than Ha Won has in her savings, so she runs out of money for her college tuition and still owes money to the cemetery.
Eun Ha Won es una muchacha cuyo padre trabaja la mayor parte del tiempo fuera de casa (es camionero) y ella se queda en casa bajo el maltrato de su madrastra y hermanastra, ya que la madrastra no paga nada de las necesidades de Ha Won, esta se vio obligada a tomar varios empleos de medio tiempo para poder pagarlos, además de la inscripción en la universidad donde ya fue aceptada, su mayor problema viene cuando se entera que su padre dejó de pagar por el espacio de su madre en el cementerio hace meses, y por eso la retiraron de su espacio, la deuda es más de lo que tiene Ha Won en sus ahorros, así que se queda sin dinero para su matricula universitaria y sigue debiendo dinero al cementerio.
In a peculiar way, she meets Kang Hyun Min, a hated Chaebol heir (multi-billionaire in Korea) who offers her an exorbitant amount of money to accompany him to his grandfather's wedding, since his intention is to annoy him by taking a "poor girl" to the event, which will also be full of reporters, Of course, he doesn't tell Ha Won, who is only told that he doesn't want to go alone to avoid embarrassment, because his cousins will be bringing their girls, and he asks her to please pretend to be his girlfriend (he also intends to humiliate his ex with this, but he doesn't tell her either). Because of the debt she owes and because she wants to pay her tuition, plus the fact that the boy is a well-known public figure (which she feels is an endorsement of who she is and that she will not be in danger) she accepts, however, at the ceremony she learns of his true intentions, and embarrassed with the boy's grandfather she apologises and forces Hyun Min to apologise as well. The grandfather, seeing that the girl manages to wring an apology out of his proud grandson, comes up with an idea. He proposes to Ha Won to pay for her college if she lives in his grandchildren's mansion and gets them to come closer and treat each other like family (since they hate each other) his only condition is that none of them go on dates with her and vice versa, but we know that will end badly haha.
De una forma peculiar conoce a Kang Hyun Min, un odioso heredero Chaebol (multibillonarios en Corea) quien le ofrece una cantidad exorbitante de dinero a la muchacha para que le acompañe a la boda de su abuelo, ya que su intención es fastidiarlo llevando a una "pobretona" al evento, que además estará lleno de reporteros, claro que esto último no se lo dice a Ha Won a la que solo le dice que no quiere ir solo a la velada para no pasar vergüenza, porque sus primos llevarán pareja y le pide que por favor finja ser su novia (con esto último también tiene intenciones de humillar a su ex, pero tampoco se lo dice). Debido a la deuda que tiene y a que quiere pagar su matricula, además de que el muchacho es una conocida figura publica (lo que siente como un aval de quien es y que no correrá peligro) ella acepta, sin embargo, en la ceremonia se entera de las verdaderas intenciones de él, y avergonzada con el abuelo del chico pide disculpas y obliga a Hyun Min a pedir disculpas también. El abuelo, al ver que la chica consigue arrancarle las disculpas a su orgulloso nieto, se le ocurre una idea. Le propone a Ha Won pagar su universidad si vive en la mansión de sus nietos y consigue acercarlos y tratarse como familia (ya que se odian) su única condición es que ninguno salga en citas con ella y viceversa, pero sabemos que eso terminará mal haha.
I have to be honest with you, this is a guilty pleasure as the story is absurd from the start, it's not very believable and has some ridiculous situations, however the characters are well written, their backgrounds are good and their pasts justify, or at least, explain why their current personalities that Ha Won has to deal with, Also later in the plot there is an increasingly criticism in Korea about the Chaebols' prejudice towards the poor people in Korea (I'll talk more about this in detail in BOF). I feel it is quite entertaining and tackles interesting and important issues with a good development, the main actress is very good at personifying emotions, when she cries she makes you feel sad, she is very good.
Tengo que ser honesta con ustedes, este es un gusto culposo, ya que la historia es absurda desde que empieza, es poco creíble y tiene situaciones un tanto ridículas, sin embargo los personajes están bien escritos, sus trasfondos son buenos y sus pasados justifican, o cuando menos explican, el por qué de sus personalidades actuales con las que tiene que lidiar Ha Won, además más adelante en la trama hay una crítica cada vez más sonada en Corea, y se trata del prejuicio de los Chaebols con las personas de escasos recursos en Corea (de esto hablaré mas a detalle hablando de BOF). Siento que es bastante entretenida y que aborda temas interesantes e importantes con un buen desarrollo, la actriz principal es muy buena al personificar emociones, cuando llora te hace sentir triste, es muy buena.

Mientras hacía una entrega de la lavandería familiar para uno de los estudiantes de la prestigiosa escuela Shinwa, Jan Di es testigo de un intento de suicidio que afortunadamente logra evitar, saliendo en la prensa como la heroína de la ciudad, dado a que el motivo del intento de suicidio fue producido por bullying, la directora del grupo Shinwa y madre de uno de los Bully, decide becar a Jan Di para que entre en la escuela, siendo la primera alumna transferida y de clase trabajadora, dado a que la escuela va desde pre-escolar hasta la universidad, y se reserva la admisión a los Chaebols del país, que deben entrar desde el inicio para garantizar una formación completa.

Thanks to this, Jan Di receives a red card from the gang, which means that the whole school must bully her, and indeed they do, however, the girl's mettle means that she does not give in to mistreatment and continues to confront Jun Pyo every time she sees him at school and this gradually causes the boy to take an interest in her.
Jan Di no tarda en ser foco de Bullyin por parte de algunos compañeros por ser "pobre" sin embargo su situación empeora cuando decide enfrentar al líder de la pandilla de Bullys de la escuela (Los F4) debido a que este pretendía que la amiga nueva de Jan Di le limpiara el zapato con la lengua porque ella en un accidente le derramó helado encima. Jan Di, incrédula con el comportamiento de Jun Pyo, termina enterrándole su helado en la cara y tirándolo al suelo al perder la paciencia, causando la burla del resto de la pandilla. Gracias a esto, Jan Di recibe una tarjeta roja de la pandilla, la cual significa que todo el colegio debe hacerle bullying, y en efecto, eso hacen, sin embargo, el temple de la muchacha hace que no se amilane ante los maltratos y siga enfrentando a Jun Pyo cada vez que lo ve en la escuela y esto provoca que poco a poco el muchacho se interese por ella.
I have to say that the series is very good, from the beginning we have two problems that exist in South Korea, bullying and the prejudice of the chaebols. On the one hand we have the darkest side of bullying (the suicide attempt) and how a weak mind can make wrong decisions because of mistreatment, on the other hand we have Jan Di, a girl with a strong mind that precisely because she was raised in an environment where life is not easy, she usually has much more strength and can confront her abusers despite being the whole school. In addition, we have the problem of the Chebols who see people who are not of their own condition as people with little value that they can take advantage of, and also the horrible tradition or custom of managing the lives of their children as if they were chess pawns, using them to associate companies through arranged marriages (it sounds crazy but in 2023 it still happens). Boys Over Flowers was the first drama to expose the other side of this situation, how the heirs feel about the decisions of their parents about their lives. We see for example how Jun Pyo's life is hell because of his mother and he takes it out on others (typical bully situation).
Tengo que decir que la serie es muy buena, de un inicio nos plantea dos problemáticas que existen en Corea del Sur, el bullying y el prejuicio de los chaebols. Por un lado tenemos el lado más oscuro del Bullying (el intento de suicidio) y como una mente débil puede tomar decisiones equivocadas por maltrato, por otro lado tenemos a Jan Di, una chica con mente fuerte que precisamente por ser criada en un entorno donde la vida no es fácil, suele tener mucha más fortaleza y puede enfrentar a sus maltratadores a pesar de tratarse de toda la escuela. Además, tenemos la problemática de los Chebols que ven a las personas que no son de su misma condición como gente con poco valor de la que pueden aprovecharse, y también la horrible tradición o costumbre de manejar la vida de sus hijos como si fuesen peones de ajedrez, utilizándolos para asociar empresas a través de matrimonios arreglados (suena a locura pero a pleno 2023 sigue pasando) Boys Over Flowers fue el primer drama en exponer el otro lado de esta situación, como se sientes los herederos ante las decisiones de sus padres sobre su vida. Vemos por ejemplo como la vida de Jun Pyo es un infierno por culpa de su madre y él se desquita con los demás (típica situación de los bully)
The performances are very good and the scenes are very well done, I like how the actors convey the right emotions. Also the sountrack is very very good, I would say the best of the dramas I've seen.
Las actuaciones son muy buenas y las escenas están muy bien hechas, me gusta como los actores transmiten las emociones correctas. Además el sountrack es muy muy bueno, diría que el mejor de los dramas que he visto.

But in addition to this, she has a double intention, to reveal who really murdered Detective Moon's wife and her father, because what no one knows is that she has the ability to hear through walls and far away after an accident that left her temporarily blind as a child, her hearing will be the weapon she needs to solve the case and help the victims.
Moon Ji Hyuk es un detective del departamento de crímenes violentos que pierde a su esposa cuando es asesinada por un perpetrador misterioso, por su parte Kang Kwon Joo fue la chica que atendió la llamada de auxilio de la esposa del detective, y quien gracias a su jefe fueron los responsables indirectos de la muerta, ya que al caerse la llamada, llamaron de vuelta, delatando la posición de la victima, como si no fuese suficiente, la agente Kang pierde a su padre el mismo día por el mismo perpetrador, al ser testigo del anterior crimen. Durante el juicio inculpan a un joven y le quitan valor al testimonio de la agente kang, que asegura que el acusado no es el verdadero responsable. Después de algunos años, La agente Kang vuelve de Estados Unidos a donde se fue a estudiar perfiles de voz, y llega con un proyecto del 911 llamado "Tiempo de Oro" en el que pretende trabajar en conjunto con Crímenes Violentos para emendar lo que pasó hace años por culpa del departamento del 112, con esto pretende salvar a las victimas. Pero además de esto, ella tiene doble intención, desvelar quien asesinó realmente a la esposa del detective Moon y a su padre, porque lo que nadie sabe es que ella tiene la habilidad de oír a través de las paredes y a mucha distancia tras un accidente que la dejó temporalmente ciega cuando era niña, su oído será el arma que ella necesita para resolver el caso y ayudar a las victimas.
This is without a doubt the best series I've seen, I left it last because of that and because it has nothing to do with romantic comedies. Korea takes the risk of working in a genre in which it barely dabbles and they make a work of art. The plot is very good and gripping, and all the episodes start out as different Goldem Time cases, but both protagonists realise that they are all related in some way to the main case they are interested in, the double murder of their respective relatives. The Drama is called Voice because Agent Kang manages to talk to the killer and remembers his voice perfectly, so once the viewer knows who the killer is, there is a constant thrill or suspense, waiting for the agent to hear the voice of the culprit and realise who it is, after that, the plot now focuses on both protagonists being able to prove the crimes of the killer.
Esta es sin lugar a dudas la mejor serie que he visto, la dejé de último por eso y porque nada tiene que ver con las comedias románticas. Corea se arriesga a trabajar en un género en el que apenas incursiona y hacen una obra de arte. La trama es buenísima y atrapante, además todos los episodios empiezan como casos diferentes del Goldem Time, sin embargo, ambos protagonistas se dan cuenta de que todos están relacionados de alguna manera con el caso principal que a ellos les interesa, el doble asesinato de sus respectivos familiares. El Drama se llama Voice porque la agente Kang logra hablar con el asesino y recuerda perfectamente su voz, así que una vez que el espectador ya sabe quien es el asesino, hay una emoción o suspenso constante, esperando que la agente pueda oír la voz del culpable y se de cuenta de quien es, pasado esto, la trama ahora se enfoca en que ambos protagonistas puedan probar los crímenes del asesino.
As I said, each episode is a different case, and each case is quite creepy, full of tension and suspense. The handling of the suspense is very well achieved, the central resource of the series is the sound, since we almost always see everything through agent Kang, who directs detective Moon with the help of her perfect hearing, the protagonist is always the sound (the experience of watching the series with headphones is another level) since the sound engineer of the series took the job of orienting the sounds towards and as agent Kang hears them. Actually, my favourite episodes are the one where a kid calls to report that his mum stabbed him and is looking for him around the house, another where they drug the hacker Ho to make him look guilty of violence, but it ends up being a very creepy case of Erotomania, and that episode where they call about a fight in a flat between a man and an old woman, and the truth of the whole thing is extremely creepy.
Como dije, cada episodio es una caso diferente, y cada caso es bastante espeluznante, lleno de tensión y suspenso. El manejo del suspenso está muy bien logrado, el recurso central de la serie es el sonido, ya que casi siempre vemos todo a través de la agente Kang, quien va dirigiendo al detective Moon con ayuda de su perfecta audición, el protagonista siempre es el sonido (la experiencia de ver la serie con audífonos es otro nivel) ya que el ingeniero de sonido de la serie se tomó el trabajo de orientar los sonidos hacia y como los escucha la agente Kang. La verdad, mis episodios preferidos son donde llama un niño denunciando que su mamá lo apuñaló y lo está buscando por la casa, otro donde drogan al hacker Ho para hacerlo parecer culpable de violencia, pero termina siendo un caso muy espeluznante de Erotomanía, y ese episodio donde llaman por una pelea en un apartamento entre un hombre y una anciana, y la verdad de todo el asunto es extremadamente creepy.
If I'm not mistaken, the series consists of 14 or 16 chapters and, as I said before, each one of them is extremely catchy, it is highly recommended I swear you will not regret it.
