Hey internet people! Today I want to talk to you about "No One Gets Out Alive," a horror movie that, like most these days (unless directed by my favorite directors), ended up disappointing me 😒
¡Hola gente de internet! Hoy quiero hablarles de "No One Gets Out Alive" una película de terror que como la mayoría actualmente (a menos que la dirijan mis directores preferidos) me terminó decepcionando 😒
The premise of the film is good: "an immigrant girl finds a less-than-ideal place to live, but without papers or money, and with her job hanging by a thread, it's her only option." However, something about the old Victorian house where she lives doesn't feel right, especially when strange and inexplicable occurrences begin to happen and the other tenants start to leave. That's when our protagonist begins to investigate and uncovers a very dark secret...
La premisa de la película es buena "una chica inmigrante consigue un lugar poco recomendable donde vivir, pero sin papeles ni dinero y con su trabajo pendiendo de un hilo es la única opción que tiene" Sin embargo, algo en la antigua casa victoriana dónde vive no le encaja ,menos aún cuando empiezan a haber apariciones extrañas y sin explicación las demás inquilinas empiezan a "marcharse" del lugar, es cuando nuestra protagonista empieza a investigar y destapa un secreto muy turbio...
Reading the summary like this makes it quite captivating, as it has a mystery behind it; however, the ending was the most anticlimactic and predictable part of the whole movie.
Leyendo el resumen así atrapa bastante, ya que tiene un misterio detrás, sin embargo el final fue lo más anticlimático y predecible de toda la película.
Let's talk about the structure first... A nightmare, the film repeatedly uses paranormal events to scare the viewer, only to reveal that it was a nightmare of the protagonist, and that's fine, as it confuses the viewer about what is real and what is not, or makes them wonder if the protagonist is crazy, but when this device is overused it loses its impact.
Hablemos primero de la estructura... Una pesadilla, la película recurre una y otra vez a generar susto en el espectador con algún evento paranormal para después mostrarnos que era una pesadilla de la protagonista, y está bien, ya que eso confunde al espectador sobre que es real y que no, o lo hace preguntarse si la protagonista está loca, pero cuando se abusa de este recurso pierde impacto.
Although the overall handling of horror was decent, there were times when they resorted to jump scares, something heavily criticized in this genre, because it becomes a weak device and for me (who has been watching and judging horror for years) even that doesn't work anymore
Aunque en líneas generales el manejo del terror estuvo decente, habían veces es que recurrían a los jump scare, algo muy criticado en este tipo de género, debido a que se torna como un recurso flojo y para mí (que llevo años mirando y juzgando terror) ni siquiera eso surte efecto ya
The performances were good; everyone maintained the narrative where they were going, and their emotions and expressions represented each character's role very well, as well as what they had in common within the story.
Las actuaciones estuvieron bien, cada quien mantuvo la narrativa donde iba y sus emociones y expresión representaban muy bien el papel de cada uno, y lo que tenían en común dentro de la historia.
The cinematography was decent too, although nothing special. At least I can applaud the lighting and post-production team because despite the lack of light in the environment, everything was perfectly visible, everything that was happening on screen.
La fotografía estuvo decente también aunque nada del otro mundo, al menos puedo aplaudir al equipo de iluminación y post producción porque pese a la falta de luz en el ambiente, se veía todo perfectamente, todo lo que iba ocurriendo en pantalla.
The ending... To wrap things up, let's talk about the ending, and it was tremendously disappointing. Just when you thought it was going to be somewhere between a thriller and paranormal horror, they came out with something that seemed more like science fiction than anything else, and it was a letdown, very anticlimactic in my opinion.
El final... Ya para cerrar hablaremos del final y es que fue tremendamente decepcionante, cuando creías que la cosa iba entre un thriller y terror paranormal, salieron con algo que parecía más a ciencia ficción que otra cosa y fue un bajón, muy anticlimático en mi opinión.
