Why I can't stand parody films (ESP/ENG)
Hello internet people! You are probably expecting a super long post with technical or complex explanations talking about the characteristics of the cinema and although of course I will explain my point of view with some cinematic language, it will not be a long or complex post, simply express my opinion.
¡Hola, gente de internet! Probablemente se estén esperando un post súper largo con explicaciones técnicas o complejas hablando de características del cine, y si bien claro que expondré mi punto con algo de lenguaje cinéfilo, no será un post largo o complejo, simplemente expresar mi opinión.
When I talk about parody movies, I refer more precisely to those of today, and for me the good parody was lost as a result of Scary Movie. Although by the time the first movie came out it made me laugh (and I admit, certain scenes still make me laugh a little) the saga lost its grace when they included films that didn't even belong to the horror genre.
Cuando hablo de las películas de parodia, me refiero más precisamente a las de hoy en día, y para mí la buena parodia se perdió a raíz de Scary Movie. Si bien para cuando salió la primera película me daba risa (y lo admito, aun me da un poco de risa ciertas escenas) la saga fue perdiendo su gracia cuando fueron incluyendo películas que ni siquiera pertenecían al género terror.
Absurd humour is very good when it is well thought out and distributed in the story of a film, but in this kind of current films there is not even a story, they are simply a succession of events that make the little plot progress and often the way of intermingling the films is ridiculous and poorly thought out, which does not help the good interweaving of the stories. To put it more simply, they make an unfunny and pointless jumble of several plots into one, and as it is not well worked, instead of creating a single timeline they just make a succession of events from beginning to end.
El humor absurdo es muy bueno cuando está bien pensado y distribuido en la historia de una cinta, pero en esta clase de películas actuales ni siquiera hay una historia, simplemente son una sucesión de eventos que hacen que la poca trama avance y muchas veces la forma de entremezclar las películas es ridícula y poco pensada, lo que no ayuda a la buena compenetración de las historias. Para ponerlo más simple, hacen una mezcolanza sin gracia ni sentido de varias tramas en una sola, y como no está bien trabajada, en vez de crear una sola línea temporal solo hacen una sucesión de eventos de principio a fin.
Also, most of these films just take advantage of the fame of the film they are trying to parody, so they don't make an effort to make the characters believable, have the same personality as the originals in order to generate authentic fun with that, but rather all the characters in these films are straight up ridiculous. I think a good thing would be to keep the personalities of the original characters but put them in ridiculous or absurd situations. Putting Severus Snape to dance a cumbia at a party is not funny, as it would be funny to see Severus Snape's reaction in the middle of a party where people are dancing the cumbia.
Además, la mayoría de estas películas solo se aprovechan de la fama de la película que intentan parodiar, así que no se esfuerzan en que los personajes sean creíbles, tengan la misma personalidad de las originales para poder generar gracia autentica con eso, sino que directamente todos los personajes de estas películas son ridículos. Creo que un acierto sería mantener las personalidades de los personajes originales pero ponerlos en situaciones ridículas o absurdas. Poner a Severus Snape a bailar una cumbia en una fiesta no da risa, como sí daría ver la reacción de Severus Snape en medio de una fiesta donde la gente esté bailando la cumbia.
To understand this situation I will give you an example with the same character. The Spanish dubbing actor Carlos Segundo (who gives the voice to Severus Snape, has participated on the radio in a parody section where Professor Snape supposedly teaches a powerful spell to any other famous show or cartoon character. The laughs come because of that each actor of each character (Snape and the guest) do not leave their character and although the supposed spell is quite absurd the fact that each character acts as such is the joke and there is the parody
Para entender esta situación les podré un ejemplo con el mismo personaje. El actor de doblaje en español, Carlos Segundo (quien da la voz a Severus Snape, ha participado en radio en una sección paródica donde supuestamente el profesor Snape enseña un hechizo poderoso a cualquier otro personaje de serie o caricatura famoso. Las risas vienen a causa de que cada actor de cada personaje (Snape y el invitado) no salen de su personaje y aunque el supuesto hechizo es bastante absurdo, el hecho de que cada personaje actúe como tal es el chiste y ahí está la parodia
I think that ridiculing the original characters and also involving them in absurd situations is too much, not to mention that the supposed fun is always based on jokes about falls, blows, sexual situations, flatulence, etc., each and every scene has the same jokes, not to mention that some of them add misogynist, racist or scatological and unpleasant jokes, passing them off as "black humour" when it is only vulgar "humour".
Creo que ridiculizar a los personajes originales y además inmiscuirlos en situaciones absurdas es demasiado, sin contar con que la supuesta gracia se basa siempre en chistes de caídas, golpes, situaciones sexuales, flatulencias, etc, todas y cada una de las escenas tienen los mismos chistes, sin contar con que algunas suman chistes misóginos, racistas o escatológicos y desagradables, haciéndolos pasar por “humor negro” cuando solo es “humor” vulgar.

The American term for this genre is Spoof movie. I'm not a fan of this genre, there are many things that don't make me laugh in this kind of movies, but among the American public they are successful, they like this kind of humor.
I prefer other types of comedy, but Spoof movies have a lot of audience.
