Metegol. Película de animación argentina. [ESP-ENG]

Cuando pienso en películas animadas de habla hispanas, no son muchas las que vienen a mi mente que en realidad valga la pena hablar de ellas, ya sea por el tipo de animación u originalidad en la trama. Está película de las que les hablaré hoy es de Argentina y es mi favorita desde el primer momento que la vi, tenía tiempo con ganas de reseñarla pero siempre pasaba algo, hasta en el último mundial cuando casualmente resultó ganador el equipo Argentino tuve ganas de hablar de ella.

Metegol es la primera película argentina en 3D, fue estrenada en las salas de cine en 2013 y si no me equivoco es la película más vista por los argentinos ese año en cine. Fue merecedora del premio Goya en 2014 y su director es Juan José Campanella quien también ganó Óscar por “El secreto de sus ojos” como mejor película internacional en el 2009.

When I think of Spanish-language animated films, not many come to my mind that are really worth talking about, either by the type of animation or originality in the plot. This movie I will talk about today is from Argentina and it is my favorite from the first moment I saw it, I wanted to review it for a long time but something always happened, until the last World Cup when the Argentine team was the winner I felt like talking about it.

Metegol is the first Argentine movie in 3D, it was released in theaters in 2013 and if I am not mistaken it is the most watched movie by Argentines that year in cinema. It won the Goya award in 2014 and its director is Juan José Campanella who also won an Oscar for “The Secret in Their Eyes” as best international film in 2009.

Amadeo es un fanático del juego de mesa Metegol, en el bar del pueblo hay uno con el que juega todos los días y en el que es muy bueno, adoptando el equipo de los rayados como su equipo ganador y al que le ha personalizado la apariencia a cada uno de sus jugadores, Amadeo tiene una mejor amiga llamada Laura de la que siempre ha estado enamorado en secreto. En el pueblo vive otro chico (Ezequiel) caprichoso, envidioso y que se cree el mejor jugador de fútbol, pero es vencido por Amadeo en el Metegol, algo que lo enfurece y jura vengarse.

Los años pasan y Amadeo sigue estando en el bar sin dejar su afición por el Metegol, Laura decide irse a estudiar fuera del país pero en ese momento se forma un alboroto en la plaza del pueblo y llega en un gran helicóptero, Ezequiel, quien ahora es un famoso jugador de fútbol y se hace llamar Grosso. Cómo había jurado vengarse de Amadeo por ganarle en el Metegol y casualmente es la única vez que ha perdido en su vida, Grosso compró todo el pueblo para construir un enorme estadio de fútbol y destruir el bar y el Metegol, borrando todo rastro de su única derrota.

La aventura se llena de magia cuando los jugadores del Metegol cobran vida para ayudar a Amadeo a recuperar a Laura, quien fue secuestrada por Grosso, al resto de los jugadores que se perdieron durante la demolición y buscar la manera de que Grosso les devuelva a su pueblo. La pregunta es ¿será que logran conseguir todos sus objetivos y derrotar a este villano egocentrista?

Amadeo is a fan of the board game Metegol, in the town bar there is one that he plays every day and in which he is very good, adopting the striped team as his winning team and to which he has customized the appearance of each of its players, Amadeo has a best friend named Laura with whom he has always been secretly in love. In the town lives another boy (Ezequiel) who is capricious, envious and thinks he is the best soccer player, but is defeated by Amadeo in Metegol, something that infuriates him and he swears revenge.

Years go by and Amadeo continues to be in the bar without giving up his love for Metegol, Laura decides to go to study outside the country but at that moment a commotion is formed in the town square and arrives in a big helicopter, Ezequiel, who is now a famous soccer player and calls himself Grosso. As he had sworn to take revenge on Amadeo for beating him in Metegol and coincidentally it is the only time he has lost in his life, Grosso bought the whole town to build a huge soccer stadium and destroy the bar and the Metegol, erasing all traces of his only defeat.

The adventure is filled with magic when the Metegol players come to life to help Amadeo recover Laura, who was kidnapped by Grosso, the rest of the players who were lost during the demolition and find a way for Grosso to return them to their town. The question is, will they be able to achieve all their goals and defeat this self-centered villain?

Amadeo es un hombre tímido pero tendrá que llenarse se valor para salvar lo que quiere, lo bueno es que no está solo y estos personajes quienes han sido sus amigos desde pequeño, aunque nunca se habían movido ni hablado ahora están con él, llenándolo de ánimos y fortalezas ya que son sabios, arriesgados, líderes y también con un poco de ego porque son los mejores en el Metegol y eso los lleva a pensar que pueden hacer lo que sea para ayudar a Amadeo, quien le ha dado tantos momentos de felicidad al equipo.

Esta película aunque es de animación y generalmente este tipo de género es dirigido a los niños, en mi opinión personal los adultos disfrutamos más de los diálogos, la manera que tienen para comunicarse los jugadores del Metegol es única, no puedo dejar de reírme de cada ocurrencia, de cada chiste o simplemente de cada broma que se hacen entre ellos, no importa si son del mismo equipo, aunque se tratan peor con el equipo contrario, a los que llaman Los Lisos. La puedes encontrar doblada en español y también en neutro pero recomiendo mil veces la original que está con el acento argentino, en ella se logran apreciar más fácilmente los chistes.

Amadeo is a shy man but he will have to be full of courage to save what he wants, the good thing is that he is not alone and these characters who have been his friends since he was a child, although they had never moved or spoken are now with him, filling him with encouragement and strength because they are wise, risky, leaders and also with a little ego because they are the best of Metegol and that leads them to think that they can do anything to help Amadeo, who has given so many moments of happiness to the team.

Although this movie is animated and generally this type of genre is aimed at children, in my personal opinion adults enjoy more with the dialogues, the way the Metegol players communicate is unique, I can’t stop laughing with every witticism, every joke or simply every joke they make with each other, no matter if they are from the same team, although they treat each other worse than the opposing team, which they call Los Lisos (The Smooths). You can find it dubbed in Spanish and also in neutral but I recommend a thousand times the original with Argentine accent, in it the jokes are better appreciated.

Sabemos que los argentinos son fanáticos del fútbol, ese es el deporte que predomina en ese país, la cultura de fanatismo se encuentra bien reflejada en esta película, unos de los temas importantes para los fanáticos es la rivalidad y por alguna razón, no sé si lo hicieron de manera intencionada, los personajes principales tienen cierto parecido a los dos mejores futbolistas de la época, que aunque ellos personalmente dicen que no son rivales, los fanáticos de cada uno de ellos si lo son y no pierden la oportunidad de enaltecer o criticar lo que cada uno de ellos hacen. Esa es mi percepción personal, tal vez el diseño de los personajes no tienen nada que ver con estas personas pero igual creo que eso hace que los fanáticos se sientan más identificados con los personajes.

Cómo mencioné, los diálogos y las escenas entre los jugadores del Metegol son lo mejor de la película, ya que la historia fuera de ellos es predecible y tiene mucha ilógica, claro es dirigida a los niños y a ellos no les importa si tiene sentido crear monstruos de la combinación entre un botín y un avestruz u otros argumentos que se desarrollan en la película. Pero realmente, aunque lo comento para que lo tengas en cuenta, para mí eso no ha importado mucho, porque de igual manera siempre me va a gustar está película y esos personajes singulares que son los jugadores del Metegol.

We know that Argentines are soccer fans, that is the sport that dominates in that country, the culture of fanaticism is well reflected in this film, one of the important themes for fans is the rivalry and for some reason, I do not know if they did it intentionally, the main characters have a certain resemblance to the two best soccer players of the time, although they personally say they are not rivals, the fans of each of them are and do not miss the opportunity to praise or criticize what each of them do. That is my personal perception, maybe the design of the characters have nothing to do with these people but I still think that makes the fans feel more identified with the characters.

As I mentioned, the dialogues and scenes between the Metegol players are the best of the movie, since the story outside of them is predictable and has a lot of illogic, of course it is directed to children and they don’t care if it makes sense to create monsters from the combination between a booty and an ostrich or other arguments that develop in the movie. But really, even though I mention it so that you are aware of it, for me it didn’t matter much, because I will always like this movie and those unique characters that are the Metegol players.
