Opinion on the first season of Pluribus [ENG-ESP]

The first season of Pluribus has ended. To be honest, I didn’t expect them to wrap up the story in just one season, given the huge buzz caused by the ingenious central theme of the story. It was also clear that the idea for the season finale was for the only two people in the world who are against the union to meet. It took nine episodes to get to this point, after a great odyssey on the part of Manousos, where he risks his life to get to where Carol is and finally achieves his goal.

I think I started from the end, but my idea is not to tell the story but to comment on some points that I found interesting. The central idea is great. In the first few episodes, we don’t know what has happened to humanity. Are they zombies? Aliens? Or is it a virus that makes people behave in this strange way? Carol acts as anyone would in search of answers. In fact, I thought it was very smart of her to try to get as much information as possible at any cost. It seemed to me that she was manipulating the system, but it turns out that from the beginning, she was the one being manipulated.

La primera temporada de Pluribus ha terminado. Para ser sincero, no esperaba que concluyeran la historia en solo una temporada, dado el gran revuelo causado por el ingenioso tema central de la historia. También estaba claro que la idea para el final de temporada era que se reunieran las dos únicas personas del mundo que se oponen a la unión. Se necesitaron nueve episodios para llegar a este punto, tras una gran odisea por parte de Manousos, en la que arriesga su vida para llegar hasta donde está Carol y finalmente logra su objetivo.

Creo que he empezado por el final, pero mi idea no es contar la historia, sino comentar algunos puntos que me han parecido interesantes. La idea central es genial. En los primeros episodios, no sabemos qué le ha pasado a la humanidad. ¿Son zombis? ¿Extraterrestres? ¿O es un virus lo que hace que la gente se comporte de esta manera tan extraña? Carol actúa como cualquiera lo haría en busca de respuestas. De hecho, me pareció muy inteligente por su parte intentar obtener toda la información posible a cualquier precio. Me dio la impresión de que estaba manipulando el sistema, pero resulta que, desde el principio, era ella la que estaba siendo manipulada.

This is where the second season will be based, as combining all the previous research Carol did to get to know the others, plus the research Manousos did without talking to anyone, just listening to electromagnetic pulses, will be a great mix, which got off to a bad start.

Debería haber sospechado que no se quedarían de brazos cruzados cuando se enteró de la investigación para contactar con otros en el espacio porque, de alguna manera, compartirían lo que se les había dado. Aquí es donde se basará la segunda temporada, ya que la combinación de toda la investigación previa que Carol hizo para conocer a los demás, más la investigación que Manousos hizo sin hablar con nadie, solo escuchando pulsos electromagnéticos, será una gran mezcla, que tuvo un mal comienzo.

I have read complaints that the series began by providing information in each episode and then stagnated (for about three episodes) without contributing anything new, but those were the episodes in which Carol gave up and began to accept her new reality, while Manousos, true to his character from the beginning, remained detached from the world, but with the goal of reaching the only person who gave him a glimmer of hope. Perhaps these episodes became a little slow and even tedious, but I imagine that it was important for the creators to show everything that a person without help has to go through to get from Paraguay to the United States by land, and the most difficult stretch, which would be the border between Colombia and Panama, was very well illustrated. Now we have to wait for the new season to find out what these two can do with the information they have managed to gather and if the others continue with the same friendly attitude.

He leído quejas de que la serie comenzó proporcionando información en cada episodio y luego se estancó (durante unos tres episodios) sin aportar nada nuevo, pero esos fueron los episodios en los que Carol se rindió y comenzó a aceptar su nueva realidad, mientras que Manousos, fiel a su carácter desde el principio, permaneció alejado del mundo, pero con el objetivo de llegar a la única persona que le daba un atisbo de esperanza. Quizás estos episodios se volvieron un poco lentos e incluso tediosos, pero imagino que para los creadores era importante mostrar todo lo que una persona sin ayuda tiene que pasar para llegar desde Paraguay a Estados Unidos por tierra, y el tramo más difícil, que sería la frontera entre Colombia y Panamá, quedó muy bien ilustrado. Ahora hay que esperar a la nueva temporada para saber qué pueden hacer estos dos con la información que han conseguido reunir y si los otros siguen con la misma actitud amistosa.
