Review of the film The Rip [ENG-ESP]

Lately, we’ve seen a lot of movies that combine action and comedy, and they’ve become quite popular on streaming platforms. I’m not saying I don’t like them—I actually enjoy them quite a bit—but there’s always a need for those action movies where the protagonists find themselves in increasingly intense and dangerous situations. I had been hearing about this movie for days, and what caught my attention the most was seeing Matt Damon and Ben Affleck together again. It’s no secret that when two friends get together, great things happen. I imagine that half the population who has seen the movie was thinking the same thing I was.

Últimamente encontramos muchas películas que combinan el género de acción con el de comedia y se han hecho bastantes populares en las plataformas de streaming, no digo que no me gustan, la verdad las disfruto bastante, pero siempre hacen falta esas películas de acción en los que los protagonistas se encuentran en una situación cada vez más intensa y peligrosa. Tenía días escuchando de esta película y lo que más me llamaba la atención era ver a Matt Damon y a Ben Affleck juntos nuevamente y es que no es un secreto que cuando dos amigos se reúnen salen cosas muy buenas, me imagino que así como yo estaba pensando estaría media población que ha visto la película.

A group of Miami police officers responsible for seizing products and money from cartels are being investigated for the death of their captain. The new captain receives an anonymous call to go to a house where there is supposedly a large amount of money. When they arrive, they realice that there is more than they expected and that this could become a problem. Following protocol, they must wait to count the money, but while that is happening, the members of the group begin to behave suspiciously; they are not used to finding so much money. What do they do? Do they remain the good guys or do they get carried away? This is where the mistrust between the members begins.

It’s an entertaining film that has action, mystery, betrayal, conspiracy, and a trap included. Just having these two actors together in the lead roles, Damon as the new leader of the group, Lieutenant Dane Dumars, and Ben Affleck as Sergeant J.D., is a surefire way to keep you hooked on the film from start to finish. You spend the whole movie trying to figure out who the traitor is, jumping from one side to the other. Little by little, they give you clues, and just when you think you’ve figured it out, there’s a twist. I like it when movies do that; it makes them more appealing, especially when they’re purely for entertainment, thus fulfilling their purpose.

Un grupo de policías de Miami encargados de la incautación de productos y dinero de los carteles, están siendo investigados por la muerte de su capitana. El nuevo capitán recibe un llamado anónimo para una casa donde supuestamente hay una cantidad de dinero, al llegar se dan cuenta que es más de lo que esperaban y que eso se convertiría en un problema. Siguiendo el protocolo deben esperar contar el dinero, pero mientras eso ocurre los integrantes del grupo empiezan a comportarse de manera sospechosa, no están acostumbrados a encontrar tanto dinero ¿Qué hacen? Siguen siendo los buenos o se dejan llevar, aquí es donde empieza la desconfianza entre los miembros.

Es una película entretenida que tiene acción, misterio, traición, conspiración y una trampa incluida. Solo el hecho de tener a estos dos actores juntos en los personajes principales, Damon como el nuevo encargado del grupo, el teniente Dane Dumars y Ben Affleck como el sargento J.D es un acierto para no perder ni un momento de la película. Te pasas toda la película descubriendo quien es el traidor y saltando de un lado para el otro, poco a poco te van dando pista y cuando crees haberlo descubierto viene el giro, me gusta cuando las películas se comportan de esa manera, las hace más llamativas y mas cuando son películas como esta de meramente entretenimiento, cumpliendo de esta manera su cometido.

It's a movie I recommend for a Sunday afternoon. I love watching Matt Damon in any movie, and I know that when they come together on a project, it's because it's worth it. I saw that he made statements about how action movies are made today on streaming platforms and how they try to keep viewers entertained and interested. Things have changed, and now movies must have action within minutes, when before they were just beginning to tell a story. They must also repeat information in various parts of the movie so that viewers don't get lost. The same thing happens to me in the classroom. if I talk too much and don't show any action, the students quickly lose interest, so now everything is against the clock. Well, with this movie, there's no problem. There's no boredom here, and it keeps you attentive and interested in how things will turn out for this group of police officers.

Es una película que recomiendo para un domingo en la tarde, me encanta ver a Matt Damon en cualquier película y se que cuando se unen en un proyecto es porque vale la pena. Ví que salió a dar declaraciones sobre como se hacen películas de acción en la actualidad en la plataformas de Streaming y la manera en la que se busca mantener entretenido e interesado al espectador, las cosas han cambiado y así como ahora las películas deben tener acción en minutos en los que antes apenas se estaba empezando a contar una historia y además deben dar información repetidas en varias partes de la película para que el televidente no se pierda, lo mismo me pasa en el aula de clases, si me pongo a hablar mucho y no muestro acción, rápidamente los estudiantes pierden el interés, así que ahora todo es contra reloj. Bueno, con esta película no hay problema, aquí no hay aburrimiento y te mantiene atento e interesado por cómo van a terminar las cosas para este grupo de policías.
