Twisted Metal season 2 review - Better than season 1 [ENG-ESP]
Two years ago I watched the first season of this series and although it wasn’t great it wasn’t terrible either, I was expecting a lot more action and car racing because it was based on a pretty wild video game, but after the last chapter I thought that maybe the intention of that first season was to introduce the main characters and the rest of the characters that would participate in the Twisted Metal tournament. At that time I did not write a review, because the series had not awakened that desire to tell something, either good or bad so I refrained, but this second season is hot, each chapter is loaded with adrenaline and we see tests in which they literally risk their lives, so here I am.
Hace dos años que vi la primera temporada de esta serie y aunque no fue la gran cosa tampoco era terrible, me esperaba mucha más acción y carreras de autos por estar basada en un juego de video bastante salvaje, pero luego del último capítulo pensé que tal vez la intención de esa primera temporada era dar a conocer a los personajes principales y al resto de los personajes que participarían en el torneo de Twisted Metal. En aquella oportunidad no escribí una reseña, pues la serie no había despertado esas ganas de contar algo, ya sea bueno o malo así que me abstuve, pero está segunda temporada es candela, cada capítulo está cargado de adrenalina y vemos pruebas en la que se juegan la vida literalmente, así que aquí estoy.
To bring you more or less up to date, the main character of this series is John Doe, played by Anthony Mackie, a man with no memory of his past who has been surviving in an apocalyptic world since he was a child with his car that he baptized as Evelyn, being a good runner he is dedicated to being a milkman, which is a kind of deliveryman between the big cities, which by the way are closed behind walls and the population is divided between those who are inside who are the good and educated and those who are outside who would be the criminals. So John travels great distances carrying the parcels dodging the dangers of the outside.
He has never been inside the cities, but he is contacted by Raven (Head of one of the cities) to carry a suitcase to the other side of the country and if he does so he earns the right to belong to one of them, so he embarks on this journey where he meets Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz) and other characters that we will see in the second season starting with Sweet Tooth a killer clown, crazy to have admirers because he is very lonely.
Para ponerlos más o menos al corriente, está serie tiene como personaje principal a John Doe, interpretado por Anthony Mackie, un hombre sin recuerdos de su pasado que ha estado sobreviviendo en un mundo apocalíptico desde niño junto a su auto al que bautizo como Evelyn, al ser buen corredor se dedica a ser lechero, que es una especie de repartido entre las grandes ciudades, que por cierto están cerradas tras unas murallas y la población está dividida entre los que están dentro que son los buenos y educados y los que están afuera que serían los criminales. Así que John recorre grandes distancias llevando las encomiendas esquivando los peligros del exterior.
Nunca ha estado dentro de las ciudades, pero es contactado por Raven (Jefa de una de las ciudades) para llevar una maleta hasta el otro lado del país y si lo hace se gana el derecho a pertenecer a una de ellas, de esa manera se embarca en ese viaje donde conoce a Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz) y a otros personajes que veremos en la segunda temporada empezando por Sweet Tooth un payaso asesino, loco por tener admiradores pues está muy solo.
In this second part is where the action begins, we meet again characters from the previous season and we meet new ones, one stranger than the other, I could even say disgusting, also Calypso who would be the creator of the tournament and each of the tests that participants have to overcome to win and get a wish. This season has the essence of a video game, each scene that involves a race is exciting because the characters transmit you that emotion of wanting to win no matter what they have to do, because here there are no rules so the death of an opponent is one of the strategies to win and the scenes outside the tracks also have that charm because each character of those who are left in the tournament has a story to contribute and as I said they are dangerous and cold-blooded killers, with a comic and disgusting air. It’s very interesting, I didn’t imagine I would like it because it’s not the kind of productions I pursue but I’m opening my horizons.
It is a literal explosion of adrenaline that is worth watching if you manage to survive the first season, because I also think that to enjoy this one you need to see the previous one, so if at some point you lose interest and want to leave it, remember that in the second season it gets good. Now we just have to wait for the third season where John and his companions will have a new mission that was already revealed in the last episode of this season.
En esta segunda parte es donde empieza la acción, nos volvemos a encontrar personajes de la temporada anterior y conocemos nuevos, uno más extraño que el otro, hasta podría decir que repugnante, también a Calipso que vendría siendo el creador del torneo y de cada una de las pruebas que los participantes tienen que superar para ganar y obtener un deseo. Esta temporada tiene la esencia de un juego de video, cada escena que involucra una carrera es apasionante pues los personajes te transmiten esa emoción de querer ganar sin importar lo que tengan que hacer, pues aquí no hay reglas así que la muerte de un oponente es una de las estrategias para ganar y las escenas fuera de las pistas también tienen ese encanto pues cada personaje de los que van quedando en el torneo tiene una historia que aportar y como dije son peligrosos y asesinos a sangre fría, con un aire cómico y repugnante. Es muy interesante, no me imaginé que me gustaría porque no es el tipo de producciones que persigo pero estoy abriendo mis horizontes.
Es una explosión literal de adrenalina que vale la pena ver si logras sobrevivir a la primera temporada, porque también creo que para disfrutar de esta necesitas ver la anterior así que si en algún momento pierdes el interés y quieres dejarla recuerda que en la segunda temporada es que se pone buena la cosa. Ahora solo queda esperar la tercera temporada donde John y sus acompañantes tendrán una nueva misión que ya nos la dieron a conocer en el último capítulo de esta temporada.
