CineTV Contest: The Concern Of A Mother: Because I Said So.
Hello, my amazing friends in CineTV community. I’m sure that we all know how amazing mothers are and I am delighted to be taking part in this contest that tells a movie and shows the importance of mothers in our lives.
Happy Mother’s Day in arrears to all the good women out there who are making efforts to making their home a beautiful one, their kids and everyone around them.
To celebrate the Mother’s Day with you all, I’ll be writing about a movie titled **Because I Said So”. This movie makes me remember the days when my mum used to advice me not to let a man touch me because I was still very young and now, she wants me to bring my husband home as soon as possible because she feels I am due for marriage.
Movie Plot
After Milly, Daphne’s youngest daughter had just suffered a heartbreak from her recent boyfriend, Daphne becomes concerned and tries to find a solution. Out of her three daughters, Maggie, Mae and Milly, Milly is the only one who isn’t married.
As a concerned mum, Daphne decides to place a personal advertisement on behalf of Milly, her daughter. After rejecting so many men, Jason becomes her perfect candidate and she plans a way for the two to meet. All of these happened outside of Milly’s knowledge.
At the same time, Milly had fallen in love with a guitarist, called Johnny. Then, she begins to date the two of them at the same time.
After Jason and Johnny found out that Milly was cheating on them with one another, they distant themselves from her. At the end, Milly worked things out with Johnny who was one of the candidates of the personal ad her mum placed for her.
At last, Daphne realized that Johnny and Milly are meant to be and not Jason.
What do I love and hate about the movie
I love Daphne’s concern. That shows the effect of a true mum in the life or her child. I once suffered multiple heartbreaks too and one day, I was shocked to see my mum break down in tears. That’s how concerned mothers can be. A true mother never wants to see her child cry no matter how little it may be.
Also, what I dislike about the movie is how Daphne places an ad on Milly without her knowledge. As good as our mothers can be, they may be annoying. Why didn’t she talk to Milly about it before doing such thing? That shows how desperate she is to meet her child’s husband.
How did this movie influence me and the people around me?
Firstly, I am just happy that I didn’t watch this movie with my mum. If I actually did, she was going to keep ringing in my ears that I should get married quick.
This movie has an influence on me that mothers are truly concerned. Many times, we feel like our mums are too concerned and maybe getting annoying but the truth is that there is no mother that wants her child to get married late.
Also, there is no mother who won’t feel concerned about her daughter’s relationship life when the lady gets to the stage of getting married or having a man in her life.
What part of it do I find interesting?
The part where Daphne places a secret ad on Milly. While watching, all I could think of is my mum. Once she realizes that I am overdue for marriage, this is something that my mother can do. Especially when she’s desperate and wants you to get married quick, she doesn’t mind if she has to introduce you to every man who comes her way.
That’s how my mum can be and I think Daphne and my mum have something in common.
Why do I think this movie is great and significant?
This movie is very important in the society for every girl child to watch and also every woman. I’ve seen cases where some girls try to create enmity with their mum because they feel pressured that their mums are doing too much. Mother’s never do too much and when it feels like they are complaining too much, just know they want the best for you.
This film deserves a 9/10 and I feel it is a must watch for every girl child.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed my review.
