Hello CineTV. Movies are supposed to widen and broaden our knowledge through the experience of characters in it.
Just yesterday, I heard about a Nigerian movie. The hype was just too much and I went ahead to read a review which inspired me to watch the movie.

The title of my movie is Konge, a Nigerian movie which portrays the marital affairs of two characters. It doesn’t stop there but proves the illness of the society by showing the parts where some characters have made mistakes earlier in their lives and began to backfire when they get married.

Plot of the movie

Tiwalola, a single mother of a young beautiful girl falls in love again after ten years. This time, she falls in love with Afolabi, a single father as well and a patient of testicular cancer.

They began to live together as husband and wife with their two kids until Afolabi lost his only son. That wasn’t all, Tiwalola’s baby father also came to claim his daughter and the couple were left with no kid.

After several attempts to having a child, they both decided to go through the IVF method which later worked. Suddenly, Tiwalola met with Oredun, brought her home to show to her husband and it was revealed that Afolabi and Oredun had some sexual affairs in the past which led to a child without the knowledge of Afolabi.

Then, it got to the stage where Afolabi’s mum kept pestering him to get married to his babymama. Then, there was a disaster.

How does this movie influence me and the people around me?

Let’s get serious. Would you believe that there are so many men who have no knowledge about having a child elsewhere? So many men sleep around that at the end of their lives, they have different children with different women and some ones that they wouldn’t even know.
Maybe this is how some siblings get married because they never knew their father had a child somewhere. I’m not being bias but this happens mostly to men because they have no idea of who might have gotten pregnant for them or not.

This movie has another influence on me and it is based on the things people go through in marriage. Let’s take a look at Tiwalola, she went through the pain of her mother-in-law not loving her like a daughter and also went through the pain of her husband having an affair with his babymama.
Well, marital pain doesn’t center around women alone. It affects the man as well.

Out of all scenes, one scene stood out. There was no much suspense but I love it for the fact that it signaled a message to me.
Oredun is a family to Dunsin, who’s the best friend of Tiwalola.

The scene which stood out is where Dunsin revealed to Afolabi that he has a child with Tiwalola. Don’t you think this is betrayal? Why didn’t Dunsin, tell Tiwalola, her best friend about it? Well, I feel she was trying to get the best for Oredun, who’s her family member. In the end, family is everything.

Another major thing I love about this movie is the use of language. The Yoruba language was fully embraced in this movie that there was no single or other language that was used to make at least, a word.
That’s to show that the actors were trying to embrace the Yoruba heritage.

If you watch this movie, you will fall in love with it. It has three parts which will never make you bored. Many things that may entice you in the movie is the language, storyline and even the camera quality.
I will rate it 9/10. I think you should give it a watch as well and let me see if you will rate it higher or lower.

I have seen this movie and I can tell you for free that wunmi Toriola is good at what she does.

Also in Africa, we blame women for childlessness in marriage while the fault could also be from the man. Weldone

Exactly
When a marriage doesn’t provide a child, most people think the woman is at fault
