The Sports Streaming Network?

I feel like it was just a couple of days ago that I was ranting on about how it is ridiculous that there are so many streaming services out there. You can read the original post here. It just so happened that one of my favorite teams was playing a game that was only available to stream on the Peacock App.

It wasn't the first time it had happened, but the other game was a preseason cupcake game that I figured would have very little significance.

The sad thing is we know this won't be the last time it happens either. As more and more streaming services pop up. It's going to be hard to watch all of your beloved sports without paying a small fortune.

I was a little encouraged when I saw this article the other day talking about how some of the major networks might be banding together to create one massive sports streaming service.

With names like ESPN, FOX, ABC, BTN, and those random affiliates we see all the March Madness games on, it could be a good start. Depending on the price, I might even think about subscribing to it.

One problem...

CBS and NBC aren't on board. CBS has become a huge sports powerhouse over the years, so I would still need to subscribe to those services.

Want to watch the Olympic games? Those are only available via NBC.

You see the problem here?

It's sad because I think this is a step in the right direction, but it feels like only a partial measure. That game the other night that was on Peacock Network only, still isn't going to be available to me.

Most of the March Madness games. That's a big fat nope unless I am able to get CBS. I'd also miss most of the afternoon football games in the fall and winter.

While my wife might be okay with that. It's kind of a non starter for me.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be able to watch the Tigers again. I haven't been able to watch them since YouTube TV lost the local Fox affiliates, but it is something I have learned to live with.

The article mentions that there isn't a price point available right now. I think that is going to be a sticker for a lot of people as well. Especially if they are already paying for a handful of streaming services. For example, I wouldn't get rid of Hulu or Disney simply because I had sports through the ESPN portion of the sports bundle.

I also wouldn't be getting rid of YouTube TV anytime soon either.

It's a sad say when throwing an antenna on your roof and going old school is the best option.

Better yet, maybe we just all go back to reading books!
