Recommendation of the day: Swan Song

While browsing the various streaming apps, I came across a movie that I initially put on just to see what it was like. The brief synopsis was about a man who was going to have a clone, but behind that new being lay a story that ended up melting my heart, because it speaks of love in its purest form: the love of an enamored and self-sacrificing husband, the love of a caring and providing father—a love, as we’d say in my neck of the woods, that you rarely see, a love straight out of a novel.

At first, I noticed the movie was going for the science fiction genre; obviously, just the mention of human clones already pointed that way. It’s not one of my favorite genres, but I have to say that in this case it blew me away, because I immediately connected with the entire plot, clone and all, ha, ha, ha. Because it showcases the purest emotions and feelings, both positive and negative, giving it a humanity that, within the futuristic context in which the story unfolds, conveys the message that no matter what era we’re in, our humanity will always be present, even in the most implausible scenarios.

The clone’s origin stemmed from the protagonist’s incurable illness, which somehow required his help to perpetuate his life in him... This “solution” was presented to him by his attending physician, who already had this clone project in secret. At first, I was just like the protagonist, reluctant to let him hand over his position to that clone, because it seems so unnatural to me, and this plot raised so many questions, such as: does a clone have a soul? Because no matter how much it has what it takes to be just like us, is it really human?

All of this was going thru my mind as I became fully immersed in the story’s plot, which, despite all my questions, was drawing me in like a bee to honey. The scenes had everything: sadness, joy, drama, laughter, and with each one, the protagonist’s need to be there for his family in the face of his fatal medical diagnosis became increasingly evident.

And so the protagonist went thru many stages of grief in his life, which really broke my heart, especially in the final scenes when he went home for the last time to say goodbye to his loved ones. Those scenes are truly quite poignant; your eyes blur as you watch them, and although the ending is somewhat predictable, each stage of the film surprises you and even makes you consider possible alternative endings... so it keeps you in constant anticipation from beginning to end.

That’s why I recommend this movie to you; I assure you that you’ll be entertained and that it’s full of gems for the attentive viewer. I hope you like it. Greetings, my dear friends!

Buscando qué ver en las diferentes aplicaciones, me topé con una película que al principio la puse para ver qué tal sería. La pequeña sinopsis hablaba de un hombre quien iba a tener un clon, pero que tras ese nuevo ser, iba una historia que termino derritiéndome, porque habla del amor en su más pura expresión; el del amor de un esposo enamorado y abnegado, el de un padre amoroso y proveedor, un amor como diríamos por mis tierras de esos que poco se ven, un amor de novela.

Al inicio noté que la película iba por el género de la ciencia ficción, obviamente nada más hablar de clones humanos ya la cosa dictaba por ahí, no es uno de los géneros que más me llamen del cine, pero debo decir que en este caso, me cerró la boca, porque de una vez conecte con toda la trama, con todo y clon ja, ja, ja. Porque en ella se muestran las más puras emociones y sentimientos, tanto los positivos como los negativos, dándole una humanidad que, en todo el contexto futurista donde se desarrolla la historia, da el mensaje de que estemos en la época en que estemos, nuestra humanidad siempre estará presente, incluso en los escenarios más inverosímiles.

El origen del clon, nació debido a una enfermedad incurable del protagonista, quien, de alguna forma, necesitaba de su ayuda, para poder de alguna forma perpetuar su vida en él... Esta "solución" se la presentó su doctora tratante, quien tenía ya este proyecto de clones en secreto. Al principio, yo estaba igual que el protagonista reacia a que él le cediera su puesto a ese clon, porque me parece tan antinatural y ante esta trama se me presentaron tantas preguntas, como: ¿un clon tendrá alma?, porque por mucho que tenga, lo necesario para ser igual a nosotros, ¿es humano realmente?

Todo esto pasaba por mi mente, mientras me iba metiendo de lleno en la trama de la historia, que a pesar de todas mis preguntas me iba atrayendo como abeja a la miel. En las escenas hubo de todo, desde tristezas, alegrías, dramas, risas y, con cada una de esas escenas, se fue poniendo más en evidencia la necesidad del protagonista de no faltarle a su familia ante su mortal dictamen médico.

Y así el protagonista fue pasando por muchas etapas de duelo en vida, fue algo que me arrugó el corazón, sobre todo en las últimas escenas, donde él fue por última vez a su hogar a despedirse de sus seres queridos. Esas escenas en verdad son bastante sensibles, se nubla la vista mientras se miran y aunque en cierta forma es predecible el final, cada etapa de la película te sorprende e incluso te lleva a pensar en posibles finales diferentes... así que siempre te mantiene en constante expectación, desde el principio hasta el final.

Es por ello que, les recomiendo esta película, les aseguro que se van a entretener y que no tiene desperdicios para el espectador atento. Espero que les guste. ¡Saludos, mis queridos amigos!
