CineTv Contest #16 | | Movie that most represents kindness
Movies tells us a lot about humans and how we behave. Some movies show our strength, courage, fierceness and wit. Others show our empathy, love for humanity and kindness. In all these, we are supposed to learn a thing or two from these movies. What better way to learn how to be kind than watching Kelvin Hart show it in this heart throbbing movie.
The Upside not only shows the viewers what kindness is but it tries to reflect it in its entirety. Also since the movie is based on a true life story it cuts away every notion of fiction and places the viewers in a state of not just being entertained but also inspired. The movie was directed by Neil Burger and was released in the United States on January 11th 2019.
The plot starts with a paroled convict Dell, who is told by his parole officer to get a job or risk going back. Dell's easy going nature helped him enter into an interview for a caregiver job, unknown to him that his benefactor was a paralyzed billionaire, Philip Lacasse. In the interview, Dell was up against caregivers with years of experience and degrees to back it up. All of which he lacked.
Dell managed to secure the job all thanks to Philip's decision to hire him, because of his sincerity and the way he embraced life. He gave Dell a really huge paycheck which Dell was overwhelmed by. One of my best scene is where Dell saw Philip's garage basement, the number of luxurious cars all of whom Philip will not be able to drive again.
The friendship between Dell and Philip started growing as Dell helped Philip to do more and see more despite his predicament. They went out and bought hot dogs together, Philip showing his money power by buying the entire restaurant. Dell also showed Philip the thrill of being chased by cops, as they drove above speed limits in a sports car.
As Dell continued to show Philip the Upside of life, Philip in turn helped Dell accomplish his dream by selling his first painting to a rich pompous neighbor for $50,000. The money which was used in buying Dell's house and upkeep for his son. Dell was surprised at how much rich people spent on art works and was convinced he could do better. The flow between these two characters in this movie was simply superb.
The ending of the movie was just magical from paragliding to sky surfing, and then opera. I couldn't possibly have asked for more. This movie is therapeutic when you're down, it just fills you with good vibes as it shows what kindness really is.

A perfect movie for this week's theme!
Seems like a very positive movie, one who can really uplift when I’m feeling down. Will check it on netflix maybe they have it here.

Strength is a valuable asset and indeed I would love to watch the movie in that regard, I appreciate good movies as I have mentioned before, my favorite ones are Star Wars, Harry Potter and others as well as more philosophically challenging ones such as Inception, Limitless or Lucy. 📽️✨
Mainstream movies nowadays are connected to action scenes and are mostly adaptations (Hello Marvel!) and FX demonstration which while sparks that child essence in me, it also disappoints me to not see more psychological and philosophical themes being on the spotlight as those deep movies portray such deep relation.
