The fusion of comedy, action, thriller is what makes a great movie for me. I can't really put numbers to how many times I've seen this particular movie, I first saw it when it debuted in 2003 and what enthused me about it was the variation in play on an old story.

You can just imagine at that time, Nollywood had not done much foreign fusion movies, and of cause comedy for that matter, the movie shook the movie industry in Nigeria into producing more talents, the likes of Chinwetalagu.

Osuofia played Nkem Owoh, the Protagonist in this movie not only maintained the arc of the story throughout the movie but added more fuse by his funny and exhilarating character. I don't think any other actor at that time would have pulled it off the way he did. The way he handled his family, and his daily life in the village was something worth seeing.

There was this scene where he had started eating when his friend, or will I say stalker walked into the compound through the back gate, thank heavens he had been shouting 'Osuofia' as he entered. Osuofia quickly washed his hands and pretended to be done eating. This was one of the scenes I couldn't get enough of.

As the story started from a village setting, it went on to carry a certain Nigerian aura throughout the movie. Even the introduction of yet another Nigerian when the movie progressed to more robust setting of London didn't mar the Nigerian aura introduced from onset. Osuofia just went on to portray a Nigerian and village view of everything and everywhere he went.

The scene where he caught a pigeon was hilarious, to say he didn't let go of the bird even when in police custody, showed how determined the character was. He went on to repeat a similar situation by taking bread forcefully from an Indian bread shop.

Osuofia In London remains my favourite Nigerian movie for now till I get captured by another the way it did to me.

Thanks for reading ❤️
