Hay películas que nos conmueven a través de ciertas escenas específicas en algún punto de la trama. Son esas escenas que nos roban un suspiro, varias lágrimas que fluyen al sentirnos identificados con las emociones de los personajes, generando así una conexión que nos sumerge en una profunda reflexión. Es como si al recordar esa película, automáticamente llega a ti esa escena que simplemente no puedes borrar y que le da un valor más grande a la película y a la historia que se desarrolla de manera general. Estoy seguro que hasta aquí ya estás pensando en esas escenas que te conmovieron y por eso comparto las que en mi particular han generado un gran impacto en mis sentimientos.

"No es tu culpa" (Good Will hunting)

Quien podría imaginar que detrás de una mente brillante puede existir una herida muy arraigada y profunda que nos condicione la vida. Este es el caso de Will, un joven con una capacidad intelectual elevada que lo podría llevar muy lejos y hacia un futuro prometedor. Detrás de una conducta dura y áspera existe una persona herida emocionalmente desde su infancia, y por eso Will no ha podido mirar la grandeza de su potencial. Su relación con Sean no empieza del todo bien, hasta que el tiempo va haciendo su trabajo hasta llegar a la raíz del problema. Cuando Sean confronta a Will y le dice en reiteradas ocasiones "No es tu culpa" es una escena cautivadora en la que Will por fin decide rendirse ante ese dolor que por tanto tiempo le causó mucho daño.

There are films that move us through certain specific scenes at some point in the plot. They are those scenes that steal a sigh, several tears that flow as we feel identified with the emotions of the characters, thus generating a connection that immerses us in a deep reflection. It's as if when you remember that movie, automatically comes to you that scene that you simply can't erase and that gives a greater value to the movie and to the story that unfolds in a general way. I am sure that up to this point you are already thinking about those scenes that moved you and that is why I am sharing the ones that in my particular case have generated a great impact on my feelings.

"It's not your fault" (Good Will hunting).

Who could imagine that behind a brilliant mind there could be a deep-rooted and profound wound that conditions our life. This is the case of Will, a young man with a high intellectual capacity that could take him very far and towards a promising future. Behind a hard and rough behavior there is an emotionally wounded person since his childhood, and that is why Will has not been able to see the greatness of his potential. His relationship with Sean doesn't start off well, until time works its way down to the root of the problem. When Sean confronts Will and repeatedly tells him "It's not your fault" it is a captivating scene in which Will finally decides to surrender to the pain that for so long caused him so much damage.

"Te amo sin saber cómo.." (Patch Adams)

Un hombre que estuvo al borde de la locura y el suicidio logró encontrar en el lugar menos pensado la esperanza y el sentido que en su vida ya había perdido. Patch es un personaje con un alma temeraria para alcanzar su objetivo y ser no solo el mejor médico sino también serlo desde su esencia original. "Nunca es tarde para estudiar, ni tampoco para amar", y es así como Patch también encuentra el amor en Carin. De pronto ambas cosas parecen ir a un mismo ritmo y por buen camino hasta que sucede una de las más grandes perdidas que se puede sufrir, ver a ese ser que amas despedirse en la muerte. Confieso que la escena toma más fuerza con la inclusión de ese poema que Patch había dejado a la mitad y que tuvo que terminar sobre el ataúd de su amada.

"I love you without knowing how..." (Patch Adams)

A man who was on the verge of madness and suicide managed to find in the least thought place the hope and sense that in his life he had already lost. Patch is a character with a reckless soul to reach his goal and be not only the best doctor but also to be so from his original essence. "It is never too late to study, and it is never too late to love", and that is how Patch also finds love in Carin. Suddenly both things seem to be going at the same pace and on the right track until one of the greatest losses you can suffer happens, seeing the one you love say goodbye in death. I confess that the scene takes on more force with the inclusion of that poem that Patch had left in the middle and had to finish on the coffin of his beloved.

"Aquel que salva una vida, salva al mundo entero" (La lista de Schindler)

Hasta en el peor de todos los escenarios el corazón de una persona puede transformarse hasta llegar a ser aquel que haga todo por la vida de alguien más. Oskar Schindler empezó siendo un empresario lleno de ambición, y en tiempos de guerra llegó a conocer la empatía y el verdadero amor hacia un pueblo que estaba siendo perseguido. La escena final sencillamente es conmovedora, ya que vemos a un hombre que a pesar de todo lo que había logrado todavía sentía que necesitaba dar más. Esta es una de esas películas donde vez la transición de alguien a quien al principio solo parece importarle el dinero y los negocios, cosa que al final también termina haciendo para salvar la vida de muchos aunque esto significaba poner la suya misma en completo peligro.

"He who saves one life, saves the whole world" (Schindler's List)

Even in the worst of all scenarios, a person's heart can be transformed to become the one who does everything for someone else's life. Oskar Schindler started out as a businessman full of ambition, and in times of war he came to know empathy and true love for a people who were being persecuted. The final scene is simply moving, as we see a man who despite all he had accomplished still felt he needed to give more. This is one of those movies where you see the transition of someone who at first only seems to care about money and business, which in the end he also ends up doing to save the lives of many even though it meant putting his own life in complete danger.

"El último baile" (Aftersun)

De las últimas películas que ví y por la cual guardé mi opinión de esta escena porque me parece que, aún sin mostrar algo tan claro, nos transmite un mensaje desgarrador. Un padre que prácticamente está dando lo mejor para su hija, quizás sabiendo que aquello sería "su último baile" y sus últimas vacaciones al lado de ella. Es una escena que en retrospectiva muestra el dolor de un hombre y la incapacidad de una niña para captar el desastre existencial que ya cargaba su padre. Es impresionante lo que detrás de una sonrisa o una aparente felicidad se puede ocultar, y como el silencio y el vacío interno pueden acabar con cualquier esperanza y sueño. La historia de Calum parece ser un grito de auxilio por parte de quienes sufren una tormenta voraz día a día muy dentro de sí mismos.

"The Last Dance" (Aftersun)

One of the last films I saw and for which I kept my opinion of this scene because it seems to me that, even without showing something so clear, it conveys a heartbreaking message. A father who is practically doing his best for his daughter, perhaps knowing that this would be "his last dance" and his last vacation with her. It is a scene that in retrospect shows the pain of a man and the inability of a girl to grasp the existential disaster her father was already carrying. It is impressive what can be hidden behind a smile or an apparent happiness, and how silence and inner emptiness can end any hope and dream. Calum's story seems to be a cry for help from those who suffer a voracious storm day by day deep inside themselves.

Recordar estas escenas no solo despiertan mis sentimientos sino que también abren mi mente y mi corazón a esas vidas y esas historias que transcurren allá afuera en el mundo.
