The basement with a secret - Zach Cregger's Barbarian

Hi friends! Due to my busy schedule I have absolutely no time for blogging, but the other day I saw a great movie Barbarian and I can't help but share my impressions.

It is noteworthy that director and screenwriter Zach Cregger has worked on simple comedies before, but with this film he can easily join the ranks of acknowledged masters of new horror Ari Aster and Jordan Peele.

So the story unfolds in a cabin in an abandoned suburb of Detroit. Young girl Tess (Georgina Campbell) arrives for an interview to get a job on the crew of a new film by a famous documentary filmmaker and rents a place through Airbnb. To her surprise, the house turns out to be rented to another tenant, Keith (Bill Skarsgård), who seems like a nice guy...

To tell you more about the plot would spoil your viewing experience, but I will say this - Zack masterfully, like the legendary Hitchcock, builds up the suspense, plays with genres, switching from hard-hitting thriller to hilarious comedy (yes, there are a lot of really funny moments) and just like Jordan Peele goes through social criticism, making fun of Hollywood, celebrities and police work.

I confess, I was very pleased with what I saw and I think this movie is a real new classic of the genre and all the clichés are played very cleverly, and it's impossible to predict what will happen in the next scene, which for me, as a film buff, is pure pleasure and the most pleasant discovery of the year.
